This is promising for Annalisa in particular: in her previous Sanremo appearances she was padticularly criticized by the press...

I have my own opinion on the press room rankings. In the top positions:

1. A historic artist who is trying to relaunch herself even though her voice is no longer there. Her only strength is her extravagance, that somewhat Rock behavior (career vote). Voting first for an icon who clearly won't win Sanremo has the only value of keeping the best all grouped behind and the race becomes more interesting.

2. A singer who by virtue of her "disposable" Pop mainstream successes needs a boost since the song is weak. From the title of the song competing in Sanremo I glimpse another honeyed, deep and sweet ballad without strength (the one that Annalisa has accustomed us to always listen in this competition).

3. The daughter of a famous deceased singer and, if I'm not mistaken, "unexpected" winner of an Italian talent show. How many of her votes are hers and how many are her father's who is no longer with us? I don't know... I feel some "Michielin vibes". She might get to the Top 10 but she won't win.

4. A singer whose opportunity to compete at the ESC was taken away by Covid. Good, in my opinion, but any song by him, at least at ESC, will be compared to "Fai Rumore". He will do well but he won't win.

5. A singer who brought a revolution in the past with "Soldi" and cleared the Trap/Urban R&B genre but who is in a declining phase. The press room's vote seems to me to be a vote for an already established artist rather than the value of the song from which I don't expect anything to read the title.

Dargen D'Amico sixth, Negramaro seventh gives me hope and the splash in the press room by Irama, La Sad and other young artists gives me even more hope. In my opinion, the match will be played there. Few points for the best so Sanremo, I repeat, will be more interesting. That's where the Press room knows the monster fandom votes are.

A note for Geolier. The failure of a song in the Neapolitan language in the press room is a condemnation. If the press room does not reward such a song, the public, apart from the Neapolitans and their well-known diaspora, has no chance of victory. Why should a Venetian and a Lombard vote for a Neapolitan song? It can happen but it should be a masterpiece that is written once every 50 years.

My ideas are these. In response to Nudiecrudi telling BernadetteCydonia he wanted to fight, please don't come looking for me. I don't feel like fighting 😄 In the end it will be the Italians and not me who will crown their winner. I can only speculate how it will end.

None is going to fight.
In your last message you forgot to analyze a very small small thing. THE SONGS.
You made any possible strategy why those artists were the most preferred ones forgetting those little things called songs.
Did it pass in your mind the idea that maybe the critics simply liked their songs mostly? Is this a possibility?

We have always criticized juries, even at the ESC. Often some votes are incomprehensible. As far as I want to accept rewarding Annalisa who, perhaps, brought an interesting song, I can't see any conspiracy behind Bertè's first place... she is no longer the Bertè "Queen of Rock" of the past. She no longer has a voice... she just screams. However, it seems like a slightly constructed Top 5 to me. Strangely, Mango's daughter, Diodato who missed the ESC, Mahmood who is established in the music scene and Annalisa who is filling her concerts with fifteen year olds, jumped up. Any other singer in the Top 5 would have surprised me, not these 5. Then, hey, mine can be nonsense. Let's see how it turns out in a month.

Last"s year top 5 by the journalists first listening was
1 Mengoni
2 Lazza
3 Colapesce Di Martino
4 Coma Cose
5 Madame
I'm not saying that Loredana Berte is going to win, but if she has a good song she may get a top 5 result as in 2019.
Just to remind you that an old rock group won in 2016 with Un giorno mi dirai.
I don't think she is going to win because does not have that huge fan base to vote for her but since Annalisa and Angelina are appreciated mostly as well I have the feeling that these two artists, with Geolier, will share the top 3.
Another question.
There isn't any compact jury. There are only experts, journalists, radio and TV hosts, critics ect that aren't chosen by RAI and don't work for it.
In the past the jury was composed by 15-20 persons but nowadays the components are almost a thousand, more then in ESC.

work in progress inside the theater (can you see the video for those outside Italy? thx)

The city is transforming these days, large stages and walkways will transform the city, it will be a big party that will last a week, in addition to the cruise ship off the coast of Sanremo!

This is the result of 42 different journalist that gave their votes to Sanremo songs. What to say... Loredana is first, I don't think she'll win but in the best scenario she can get the podium she was robbed of in 2019. Those high votes aren't really a surprise since in 2019 the Press Jury put Loredana on the first place; will she get the favour of the public? We'll see.
Angelina has a powerful song that unexpectedly got a lot of great votes by the journalist (usually, singers who come from Amici get really bad ratings at their first Sanremo, even powerful ones such as Irama and Sangiovanni).
In my opinion, the favourites to win are either Annalisa or Negramaro: Annalisa got awesome ratings, Negramaro are really liked by the press and the older public. Others who are really likely to finish in the top 5 are Geolier, Alessandra Amoroso and Il Volo, but I think juries won't let them win.

About Negroamaro i don't think they are contenders. They will have the same result as Colapesce Di Martino.
You have to consider which ones are the televote killers, the ones with strong fanbase.
Yes Negroamaro are famous but they have been far from the music scene in the last years and they are almost 50 years old and don't have a transversal public.
On the other hand Annalisa, Angelina, Geolier and The Kolors will be real televote killers, they have literally exploded with huge hits last year.
Mahmood and Diodato could get a chance to enter in the top 5.
The others are chanceless

Well... you can't compare Negramaro and Colapesce Dimartino. Negramaro have a really estabilished career, lots of hits, and a great fanbase that supports them at their concerts. They have a lot of respect (such as Mengoni last year); if the song is good and they don't mess live (Giuliano Sangiorgi lately hasn't performed great) they could really landslide.
It's not just about recent hits, but also about having respect coming from a large audience. Sanremo is followed by youngsters, adults and older people. It's really easy for Angelina or The Kolors to bring the "wrong song" and to go back in irrelevance.
In my opinion, to reach the top 5 will be Annalisa, Negramaro, Geolier, Alessandra Amoroso and Il Volo, they have the biggest fanbases for sure.

You forgot Mahmood... He will be in the top 5, as always. He is the sweetheart of the press and that won't change ever, even though I hope he doesn't win this time.

I was just comparing similar situations not the artists. I like Negroamaro, they have written some masterpieces but I have the feeling that the televoting might be concentrated around Annalisa Angelina, The Kolors, Geolier, Mahmoud and Alessandra. Since most of them have got high appreciations by the press I think they might have more possibilities to enter in top 5.
This year the jury system is more balanced towards streamings, sellings, rankings.

As per tradition, the official photo of the scenography, you like it?
the set designer strongly wanted the non-use of ledwalls, it's all "artisanal" and material scenography, the play of light created by the projectors will replace the backdrop made of LED walls

I would like the Eurovision Song Contest to "steal" the idea of the Sanremo covers evening. For three reasons:
  • Makes the race more intriguing. The vote of the cover evening affects the final ranking.
  • Optional, you may decide to sing a song or with an artist who were former ESC participant. This way we won't always have to put up with the useless presence of Måns.
  • Would make ESC more important. Competing on the covers evening, if a former participant of the contest is not chosen, international stars could sing. Imagine Madonna singing with a Lithuanian singer, Pitbull with a Spanish group and Rage Against the Machine together with a Bulgarian band giving life to incandescent Rock... 🤩 More and more great artists would approach the contest, especially the European ones would decide to participate.

Ok... I got too excited... I started a political rally... Now my impressions of the participants of the Sanremo covers evening:
  • Alessandra Amoroso with BoomDaBash - Medley:
We will witness an atmosphere with the Latin American/Caribbean sounds so dear to Amoroso too.

  • Alfa with Roberto Vecchioni - "Sogna ragazzo sogna" by Roberto Vecchioni:
Intellectual ballad.

  • Angelina Mango with the string quartet of the Orchestra of Rome - "La rondine" by Mango:
profound and classy piece. She will also get friendly points in memory of her father.

  • Annalisa with La Rappresentante di Lista and the Artemia choir - "Sweet dreams (Are made of this)" by Eurythmics:
Annalisa in her latest diva guise. Intense and provocative sound.

  • BigMama with Gaia, La Niña and Sissi - "Lady Marmalade" by Labelle:
Even more intense and provocative sound by Annalisa and LRDL. Explosion of energy on stage and "Girl Power" atmosphere.

  • Bnkr44 with Pino D'Angiò - "Ma Quale Idea" by Pino D'Angiò:
Crazy! Pino D'Angiò! I listened to his "Ma Quale Idea" years ago and loved it. Disco track, seductive and with an engaging sound.

  • Clara with Ivana Spagna and the children's choir of the Teatro Regio of Turin - "Il Cerchio della Vita" by Ivana Spagna:
Mmm... If I remember correctly, "Il Cerchio della Vita" is the cover of an Elton John song . Deep song. Power Ballad coming soon.

  • Dargen D'Amico with BabelNova Orchestra - Homage to Ennio Morricone: “Modigliani” on the notes of The Crisis:
Great Dargen... Homage to an immense artist like Morricone. Adding more would be useless. We all know what awaits us.

  • Diodato with Jack Savoretti - "Amore che vieni, amore che vai" by Fabrizio De André:
I love De André. He is very close to that French "cursed chanson". Here we are at the level of poetry that goes beyond music.

  • Emma with Bresh - Medley by Tiziano Ferro:
Well... Tiziano Ferro is a great artist but I think we will see a performance of Mainstream Pop and that's it.

  • Fiorella Mannoia with Francesco Gabbani - "Che sia benedetta" by Fiorella Mannoia and "Occidentali's Karma" by Francesco Gabbani:
I'm tepidly happy for "Occidentali's Karma" but I'm in tears for "Che Sia Benedetta"! What a wonderful song! He could have even won the ESC!

  • Fred De Palma with Eiffel 65 - Eiffel 65 Medley:
Pure and hard disco music. I am happy. I will enjoy the performance.

  • Gazzelle with Fulminacci - "Notte prima degli Esami" by Antonello Venditti:
I remember that Fulminacci, if I'm not mistaken, made an excellent Sanremo some time ago. We have before us a song "for young", full of feeling, love, friendship and hope for the future.

  • Geolier with Guè, Luchè and Gigi D'Alessio - Medley entitled "Strade":
Mmm... definitely a quality song. We will witness a solo of Neapolitan culture.

  • Ghali with Ratchopper - Medley entitled "Italiano Vero":
Toto Cutugno's song in Trap form? Haha.

  • Il Tre with Fabrizio Moro - Medley by Fabrizio Moro:
With Moro's presence I'm sure we'll have goosebumps.

  • Il Volo with Stef Burns - "Who wants to live forever" by Queen:
WOOOOOW!!! If Il Volo can handle this Queen masterpiece, like Mengoni managed "Let It Be" last year, we have a winner!

  • Irama with Riccardo Cocciante - "Quando finisce un amore" by Riccardo Cocciante:
Power Ballad in its pure state.

  • La Sad with Donatella Rettore - "Lamette" by Donatella Rettore:
This will make all lovers of excess in Europe drool.

  • Loredana Bertè with Venerus - "Ragazzo mio" by Luigi Tenco with arrangement by Ivano Fossati:
A little disappointed. Tenco was like Endrigo and De André a poet. The Bertè of the past would have surprised us with an impactful refresh while now... maybe I'm the one who isn't very confident. We'll see.

  • Mahmood with Bitti's Tenores - "Come è profondo il mare" by Lucio Dalla:
Curious to see Mahmood rehearse with Lucio Dalla. Dalla was also a poet but compared to other poets also a musical experimenter.

  • Maninni with Ermal Meta - "Non mi avete fatto niente " by Ermal Meta:
Wow! Right song for the moment we are living in. An anthem against violence. One of the most striking "robbed ESC songs".

  • Mr. Rain with Gemelli Diversi - "Mary" of Gemelli Diversi:
I'm fainting... Gemelli Diversi! If I remember correctly they are a kind of Backstreet Boys in Italian R&B form. "Mary", if memory serves, is about a girl mistreated by an abusive father. Song that will touch our hearts.

  • Negramaro with Malika Ayane - "La Canzone del Sole" by Lucio Battisti:
One of the most profitable Italian musical partnerships returns alive. Happy! "La Canzone del Sole" then... masterpiece. Will they be able to interpret it properly? Battisti is not easy to sing.

  • Renga Nek - Medley of their hits:
Two great artists singing their hits. I expect "Angelo" and "Laura Non C'è" for sure.

  • Ricchi e Poveri with Paola & Chiara - Medley of "Sarà Perché Ti Amo" and "Mamma Maria" by Ricchi e Poveri:
The "Italian ABBA" of the two queens will present us with a sound that will make us dance and at the same time feel good.

  • Rose Villain with Gianna Nannini - Medley:
Certainly a series of powerful and quite shouty songs.

  • Sangiovanni with Aitana - Medley of "Farfalle" and "Mariposas" by Sangiovanni:
Mmm... risk-free choice for Sangiovanni. Disappointed. However, I like "Farfalle".

  • Santi Francesi with Skin - "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen:
Somebody give me the oxygen tank! Skin and Cohen's "Hallelujah"! I'm impatient! Here's who could compete for victory!

  • The Kolors with Umberto Tozzi - Medley of Umberto Tozzi's hits:
Incredible... Tozzi! A hero also in the hispano-hablantes market. With Umberto Tozzi The Kolors have made an excellent choice. Are there still those here who are crying for "Gente di Mare"?

Now I have to go to rest... Too many emotions all at once. An epic Sanremo Festival awaits us! Amadeus should not leave command. Or he could come to Spain. Watch out Italy! We'll steal it from you! 😏😄

"The holy week" is near to come.
We have to face endless evenings with a lot of music, talks, guest, conversations and commercials.
But I'm here for it. As always.
Some indications for the newcomers:
- Sanremo isn't a national selection so do not expect something similar to Melfest&Friends.
- If you are used to watch a fast-pass spectacle like ESC, don't start watching Sanremo. It will last min 5 hours/nigh and will be completely in italian.
- If you're not used to the italian culture&music but want to listen the songs, don't watch Sanremo. 10 min after a song will be presented on the stage, the studio version and the Sanremo performance will be available on YT.
- The most thrilling night is the grand finale but you have to face, at your own risk, a 7 to 8 hours marathon. Strong drinks are recommended.
- If you decide to sacrifice your sleeping, a 5 nights watch is recommended. The sanremese songs aren't easy at the firs listening. After the first night you'll say "why I waisted my time watching it" but at the end of the week you'll have 15 preferred songs.
For the rest, just enjoy. ❤️
