Is it about rankings or is it about performing the song you love the most? If he really was dead set on it and couldn't love it more than other songs in his head, there wouldn't be this doubt. Sorry but who cares about getting 7th place or whatever
You know very well the difference between Sanremo and ESC.
It's not a question of rankings or a love about a song. Obviously he loves Due Vite, he is a co-writter but it's a song not written for ESC, the length shows it.
On the other hand he has been in ESC years ago and knows very well what songs are suited for ESC. He also knows that ESC could be a possibility for his career. These are the reasons why he is poundering his decision.

I don’t know if he isn’t content with the current song. If not, then in makes sense of course to exchange it. I‘m sure he will come top 10 with whatever song. ;)

I thought I read he considered changing it because it would be too generic to get a top spot.

So I was dragged in here by the Italians for saying it when Marco actually agrees

I don't know if I am the minority here (didn't bother reading the pages before), but I actually prefer this entry to the 2021 and 2022's Italian entries. So Marco, just do what you do best, just look pretty and sings your heart out. At this rate and how dire the quality the selected songs is so far, this is looking like a guaranteed top 3 entry.

Forget to give the score previously, I am giving this a :8: (my highest this season for now) with the potential to grow.

I'm noticing that the heavy stagings are becoming predominant in this edition.
Sweden, Serbia, Croatia, Finland, Norway, Germany, Spain, Ukraine and others are going to come.
Hope Marco keeps it as simple as possible, but charming, just to be distinguished amongst too much dancers, wigs, sandwiched screens, space costumes, choreographies.

I think many are underrating Marco's capacity to eat the stage.
By now is the only esc artist to make concerts in stadiums with 80.000 people and not only once. San Siro. Olimpico and this year Circo Massimo which contains around 100. 000.
Putting shows like those need high stage performering ability.
Just curious to know who is going to prepare his staging this year.

Maybe not as much experience as Marco, but Lord of the Lost has experience too. They toured with Iron Maiden last year and Iron Maiden booked them again for June in the UK this year. ;)

I think Italy is going to do very well with him. It's not in my Top 5 but I can see it beeing a Top 5 entry, especially with the juries. This year has a lot of bops, loud and experimental songs. This will stick out in a positive way imo. Right now it's the only ballad in the GF. Maybe Estonia too after the SFs.

Exactly. A totally different scenario from 2013, a year dominated by ballads (great ballads, I must say... I love 2013). I think our song isn't a top 5 entry, but won't be that far from being one in the end: it is a little underrated by the bubble, because the bubble is usually more into bops, but that doesn't mean it will fail in Eurovision. Marco is talented and has lots of experience, he will deliver, for sure. I just hope RAI didn't mess his chances with nonsensical staging ideas: keep it simple and focus on the singer and the song.

I dont think Rai is involved with the staging. The artist, in accordance with its discografic label, decides what direction to give and how much to spend for the staging. Marco has a very important recording company after, so i think they have all the budget for a good staging. Marco has declared that ESC2013 has been very helpful for his carrier out of Italy and he travelled a lot throughout Europe, so I'm sure he isn't going to loose this possibility to increase his popularity abroad.
@mauve I know that LOTL are able to put a good show, I love them. But they have an advantage because they are a group and have a certain defined style, easier for them to make the stage busy. Being alone in front of 80.000 people needs a certain ability otherwise that huge stage will eat you. He is one of the few italian artists to organize open arena tours and as I said some messages ago, he is going to sing in Circo Massimo, which has a huge capacity, up to 250.000.

With the quality we are getting this year, I can see this winning the jury vote or at the very least top 3 in the jury voting. There is no way the jury will not respect this. We just need a simple staging that will just focus on Marco's beautiful voice + his smouldering looks and a good running order, Italy should have another top 10 or even top 5 placement locked in.

Italy will definitely be Top 10 with this song, probably even Top 5. Guess you underestimate the number of people watching from the older generation who would always vote for a typical Italian ballad. I almost know none people who don’t like Italian songs like this one. I even think he‘s doing better with the public than the juries. Juries tanked Italy a lot in the last years whereas the public has always had a soft spot for Italy. There‘s nothing more European than an Italian pop song/ballad.

While personally I'm not a fan of the song, I think it could be a dark horse.

Unless it's given a death slot in the running order, I can see it getting a decent televote - a handsome guy, singing a ballad in Italian. Jury may also like it (won't win the jury vote but I wouldn't be shocked if it came in top 5)

Will it get enough to win? Probably not, but I think it could be a surprise top 5 finisher.
