Ho sognato di volare con te
Su una bici di diamanti
Mi hai detto: "Sei cambiato, non vedo
Più la luce nei tuoi occhi"

La tua paura cos'è?
Un mare dove non tocchi mai
Anche se il sesso non è
La via di fuga dal fondo

Dai, non scappare da qui
Non lasciarmi così
Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

E tu, sei come un pugile all'angolo

Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

Dimmi che non ho ragione
E vivo dentro una prigione
E provo a restarti vicino

Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

It's an intriguing act. Two men standing on stage singing allegedly about their respective ex's (so I was told) but looking at each other at the line "e ti vorrei amare".
Musically it's not hitting me a hundred 100%, but it's mostly pleasant to listen to. I'm only really really really tired of male falsetto. We had such a vague of this in recent years in Eurovision, that this is really spoiling it for me a bit.
This could go either way with me. I'm curious to see how it develops with a few more listenings.

Not as good as Soldi, but quite nice. Top 10 place sure in Eurovision. I give this 7, because this is not my kind of song.

Ernest Clayton "Clay" Walker Jr. (American actor and singer, country music exponent who has sold over 11 million records in his career) commented on M&B's "Brividi" on YT! This is what he wrote "Such a beautiful song! Keep on singing 🙌🏻" xfaint

Great analysis. I guess Blanco was chosen by Mahmood to compensate for that distinctive falsetto of him. We must consider, no one said it, that the song has numerous vocal nuances within. The song, beyond sound and meaning, has an almost jazzy construction; it almost follows a free pattern that goes well with the freedom of thrills and feeling. Technically, the song can like it or not, we are at a very high level.

I really like Mahmood, he released very good tracks after Soldi: Rapide, Barrio, Dorado to name a few…

But Brividi is very generic and nothing new.

At least it’s much better than zitti e buoni, and I like the chemistry between the two. It’s a good step for a conservative country like Italy to choose a gay romance song from a traditional music fest.

:5: for now, might upgrade to :6: if Italian fans don’t kill my mood with their bs

I will give a decent 5 pts ... I am sad since Italy is one of my fave ESC countries in the past years. But I am hoping again for next year! xup

You and Mahmood won´t be friends in this lifetime anymore right?? ;)

Anyway, I don´t need to write a whole novel to describe what I think of this song. Take all my :12: :it: ,you´re my new number one right now!! xheartxcry

The song is truly wonderful. I like it better than Soldi or Zitti e buoni. When my eyes get wet, when I listen to a song, it's a great sign.

I suppose Italy will get a lot of love from juries this year.

Elisa risked winning this year and LRDL and Emma were very strong. It's not a gender issue but women's songs still can't be too strong to grab victory. In televoting, I would like to point out, women also vote. M&B won by national choice. Before concluding the message, do you want to know when the last female artist in Sanremo won? Last year. Victoria of the Måneskin. In conclusion, first you talk to me about the opening of conservative Italy towards free love and then you talk to me about patriarchy ... isn't the reasoning a little illogical? Are we avant-garde or retrograde? Modeling one's reasoning to model one's ideas is never a winning move. The fallacies are immediately felt.

Can't say we didn't see this coming. While I am happy Mahmood is back, but just disappointed it's with this song. I don't get the hype over it. Thought it's just alright. Perhaps it will grow on me as this year's contest progresses. As of now, I am giving it a :5:.

I was shocked by the poor quality of many of the acts in Sanremo. Many songs were really hard to sit through. The entire show is hard to sit through.

The song is alright, but I really love to watch them performing on stage. I give my first 12 points in this season.

Most People here hate every Sweden sends, just because its Sweden.
Not sure about that: to me it's more people being tired of Sweden always sending safe pop songs years after years (and having good results because of the production value more than the songs themselves).

I also feel that esc fans really like Italy but to me it's more diverse and enjoyable than the 5 latest Swedish entries. Maybe it's just a normal thing, like there are always trends and Sweden's formula may be a little out of breath while I think Italy may be an esc winner again in the next years.

L'essenziale is very much a ballad, not a pop song.
Even Mengoni himself described it as a ballad
In the end we always talk about style variations. You can never really say today that a genre is pure. There are many contaminations. On the song sheet you can read Pop genre then Mengoni's song can have its roots in the Ballad. I criticize the basic concept, or rather two concepts: the first is the one that sees the Ballad demonized (especially when Italy brings it - phrases like "usual Italian Ballad" are almost on the agenda); the second is that all Ballads are thought to be equal. The contaminations and even more the fusion of genres, as I wrote a few lines above, do not bring them all to the same level. That's all. The truth is always somewhere in between.

I love the melody but I don't like their voices, it kinda ruins the beautiful melody the song has, and despite it starts strong, once they start to sing on duet it breaks my inmersion into the song. A 4 for me.

I agree. Sweden, whose value I do not discuss, has for years now made its production "industrial". Good sounds but with little variation. It was a winning concept but in the end the mine ends up running out. However, Sweden has a big festival and with the right accommodations it can still dictate the ESC. Perhaps the resentment of some Eurofans is due to the great favor of the jury who, as I explained to Filip in another thread, helped Sweden (together with the solid Scandinavian alliance) several times to make up for a scarce televoting.
