Literally crying cuz "Eden" would be my TOP-1 of the whole year. Instead they send generic ballad which could probably finish at TOP15 max...It's not that bad, but I'm sad. Strange they didn't learn from last year.

My favourites vs National preselections:

"Fai Rumore" is the kind of entry that I'd be very happy to see from the UK but it doesn't have the same kind of strength that most Italian entries have had in the last decade. By no means a bad song, but it's no "Soldi"

Maybe when I'm over the loss of "Eden" I'll be able to judge this entry more fairly 😢

I liked lots of songs in San Remo this year (especially Elodie), so I am a bit disappointed, that none of them won here. Especially Elodie - Andromeda was a masterpiece.

Didn't follow San Remo, so this is the only song i know of. Italy remains my favorite country in Eurovision, there's not a song i dislike coming from them. Fai Rumore is no exception. I don't think i like it as much as previous entries (at least the 3 last ones), but then again i only heard it once and the chorus got instantly stuck in my head.

I'll give it a 10 for now as there are still way too many songs to be revealed.

Elodie would have been different, but still very Italian. The song they chose is a good song, but I feel like I've heard it before.

As for Diodato... it's there. There are a few nice touches to the production here and there but ultimately it's just another Sanremo ballad that people will pretend to like because they think it makes them seem sophisticated.

Imagine choosing what you listen to just as an attempt to make yourself look more sophisticated. Couldn't be me. Doesn't need to be me *unwraps Ferrero Rocher*. Some people just naturally ooze that je ne sais quoi.

I couldn't follow the festival this year, since I didn't have seven hours to spare every night this week. So I'm discovering Diodato's song and... for now I'm on the fence.

It's a very classic San Remo sound (like Ultimo last year) and there's nothing wrong with that, for it makes sense within the context of the festival. But right now, I fail to connect to it: the melody, the voice, the arrangements aren't giving me special feelings.

Maybe it'll grow on me over time like some of their past entries - like I grew to like "No Degree Of Separation" and "Soldi" - but I'm not sure this one will become a banger in my book. It sounds a tad too classic and expected to me.

I'll give this effort six points for now, with potential to grow or fade on me.

With that being said, it'll have its supporters in Eurovision and probably will do better than most people expect: Italy does receive at least decent support for doing them, and it's no La Mia Città, so they can never go wrong with a classic ballad in their mother tongue.

Hidden camera evidence from last night of the refined, cosmopolitan Ms Woods voting for "that nice young man from the Mediterranean", she can't remember which one.

When we send il volo , the dance song wins, when we send gabbani pop the Portuguese ballad wins, then we try mahmood dance and the Dutch ballad wins, this year we send the Italian ballad and the techno song will surely win
It is useless to chase the victory, it will never come!
Italy has always sent different styles but has never won, and will never win

After sleeping on it, I think my feelings for Fai rumore are still the same. I'm at 8-ish, 10-ish (will stick to the latter). It's a lovely piece of music that's going down a road we've travelled before but it has elements here that appeal to me very much personally. The Angelo Badalamenti Twin Peaks-esque synths and sense of mystery. This really could be your high school dance song from the very early 90s.

I think Diodato himself is the barrier here that stops me from going full on with my support. Bless his heart but he doesn't particularly thrill me too hard, something which I can say the opposite for when it comes to all the singers that made my legendary top 9 at this Sanremo. That's not to say he doesn't have his charms though as he really does. Wonderful gentleman with a powerful voice, but I miss a particular spark. I want to rough him up a bit almost, but then again his pureness ultimately perhaps does when thinking about it deeper add something to Fai rumore. I did describe the song as being that brief moment of rest as someone is being murdered outside (my Twin Peaks fantasy), so we need an angel to make us feel comforted if just for a moment as we cry into the shoulder of our lover whilst slow dancing.
