Please keep discussion in this thread specific to Eden Golan and her song, Israel's (potential) participation in Eurovision 2024 and discussions or remarks from other countries and organisations about Israel's participation.

Any further discussion of a political or humanitarian nature not relating to specifically Israel in Eurovision 2024 needs to go into the politics sub-forum. Thank you!

In the second episode of HaKokhav Haba, the following three contestants were chosen to go to the next round.

1. Moriah (age 26)
2. Yonathan Biton (age 28)
3. Arik Sinai (age 74)

HaKokhav Haba will continue with more auditions in the next episode, but no one knows when the episode will be aired.

To be honest, politics aside, I don't know if Israel participating this year is a very good choice. A huge arena with the Israeli delegation and Isreali fans just screams "Hamas, bomb me!". Like I said, it has nothing to do with politics, I'm just worried about the security. Especially since Sweden has a lot of issues with jihadists at the moment.

I know that similar things were being said two years ago, because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but the jihadists threat is much more serious and realistic in my opinion. I just don't want Eurovision to turn into a centre of a terrorist attack.
Sorry but this comment is so lame. None gonna scream Hamas bomb me as we respect the contest unlike others.

During the audition of Noya Shram in the fourth episode of HaKokhav Haba, the judges had a debate about what kind of song Israel should send to ESC 2024. This disagreement was due to the song Noya chose: "We're Good" by Dua Lipa. The judges disagreed on whether the song was appropriate during a difficult time for Israel. Despite this, Noya received 70% positive votes from the judges and the audience.

The article below includes a video of Noya's audition.

It doesn't matter which song Israel will choose. You will always have to face stubborn fans who claim it is a very political entry even though they might be just aiming about their own mother with literally no references to peace or war in the lyrics...

Can work in the opposite too. Israel can win the televote or juryvote for the wrong reasons.

In fact,

The results will be politically charged no matter what, you vote for flags at display.

Will we see another drugged ESC edition? Overwhelming political victory and fight for second place for co-hosting?

I see no way, with the current mood in Europe, which turns more and more against Israel, for Israel to get significant support (ie Ukraine 2022). With the current situation, Israel can only receive the opposite reception, televote wise. But May is still far, if situation calms down soon (until May, who knows) people will forget about the conflict and, if Israel sends a good song, people will support it. Let's not forget Israel won by landslide/televote in 2018 and last year did great in televote, too.

I can agree. However, the European non-vote for Israel dictated by the opposite effect you speak of will create a paradox. On the political benches, the West supports Israel but popular thought is clearly pro-Palestinian and anti-Semitic (today it is easy to be considered as such, it is enough to also open a critical dialogue towards Israel's actions). Given the European response towards Ukraine, one cannot help but think that Israel's non-victory would not be correct (unless wars are also fashionable). Drugged victory but European unity and condemnation to the massacre of innocents. Otherwise it is a victory for Hamas which with its attack has placed Israel at a disadvantage towards its geopolitical allies.
