Re: ISRAEL 2019

Let it be a bidding war between :se::uk::de::ru:
Would be fun with some excitment!
No let's be serious, i'm sure Israel will solve this somehow.:)

If it is between those 4 countries fighting then I think Sweden will probably win.. I think looking at the last 10 years Sweden, Germany and Russia have hosted and the UK have hosted Congratulations. Russia will put the most money in (obviously) UK and Germany would be the obvious options for the EBU with them being in the big 5 and therefore would get preferential treatment, however I think Sweden will win overall because Sweden will because the EBU love them.

Anyway... I want Israel to host! Failing that Cyprus to host with Netta and Eleni hosts

Re: ISRAEL 2019

i dont think there would be a bid. ebu has a plan b already and discussed it with one or the other country. the only thing i can say about Austria as a possible host is that ORF could fix the financial issues within a couple of days. there are at least two cities who would love to host and take over the majority of the costs. vienna will host europride in 2019, so together with the life ball and the esc this would be perfect for vienna tourism. but i guess it is more likely that Germany would make it. however, in my opinion the ebu should go for plan b in case isreal will not be able to solve everything tomorrow. this is just getting too political.

Exactly. In case I don't see any financial problems for ORF. The city marketing departments of Vienna, Graz or Innsbruck are eager to finance such an event. In 2015 there was no problem too for ORF, because the City of Vienna paid the majority of the costs.

oe24.at is quoting Martin Biedermann, the spokesperson of ORF: "The EBU was very impressed by the 2015 event". oe24.at interpretation of the statement " ORF indicates interest"

http://m.oe24.at/kultur/song-contes...e-wieder-in-Oesterreich-stattfinden/344715136

But I'm convinced that in a few hours all problems will be solved in Israel.

Tel Aviv mayor says municipality will pay for Eurovision song contest venue

Mayor Ron Huldai says event will showcase Israel, no matter which city it's held in;

Mayor Ron Huldai on Monday said the Tel Aviv municipality would absorb part of the cost of staging the 2019 Eurovision song contest , adding to confusion surrounding the question of whether Israel will be forced to pull out of hosting the annual music extravaganza due to a financial spat between the public broadcaster and the government over the funding of the event.

“The Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality is ready to join the national effort and absorb the costs of the venue – a central cost of the event,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “Maybe it will help those who are still climbing trees instead of finding solutions.”

"Once again there is no responsible adult — just as they drove Messi out of Israel, now they are driving away the Eurovision Song Contest,” wrote Huldai, in reference to Argentina pulling out of a pre-World Cup warm-up soccer game with Israel amid intense protests and threats from the Palestinians after it was decided to move the game from Haifa to the capital, Jerusalem.

Huldai, who is standing for re-election for a possible fifth term in October on behalf of the opposition Labor party, took aim at the fighting between the national political leadership of the country and the public broadcasting corporation, which has thrown Israel’s hosting duties into jeopardy.

i also think that this will be the solution. the city will take over parts of the costs and the esc will be held in Israel. in Austria this is a big issue in all major newspapers. the daily newspaper kurier says that there havent been any talks between ebu and orf so far.

Re: ISRAEL 2019

According to the Austrian Press Agency, ORF would only be host if the EBU or Israel take full responsibility for the finances, what is, according to ORF, very unlikely.
With other words, ORF will not do it.

If everything falls apart, I think next adress would be ARD.

Lol I don't believe it. Orf is desperate to host again. They have pockets full of money and 2015 was very expensive but paid off. Probably the city of Vienna would not sponsor it because they are in debt and at odds with the federal government . But Salzburg, Graz and Innsbruck have bigger arenas anyway and povkets full of money too. I would love to have it in Linz but there is no money and no arena.

However, Austria really should not host it because it would draw a lot of jealousy from fans. We would look like the spoilt lovechild of EBU just like Sweden and Australia. The jury win was already coldly received by fans.

I would give the hosting gig to Italy in case of an Israeli default. Italy was the second runner up in televote. They were a massive favourite last year and they are the biggest televoting winner ever in 2015. Eurovision in Italy is overdue and that would be a huge consolation prize for Eurofans who still hate the 2015 result.
1991 though was a terrible show that the Italians delivered.

Sweden as a host comes with an enormous price tag for delegations. Nordic countries are not preferred in general because costs are exploding for the participants. And I would not be able to stand another awkwardly scripted show by Ed áf Sillen. The 2016 jury voting is an utter cringe fest.

UK as a host would be an inspiration for BBC to try harder and send better entries in the future.

I love Spain but they RTVe doesn't deserve it. It is a corrupt institution and ESC would be very awkward and cringey.

ORF is playing the chicken game too. There are no dummies at Küniglberg.

Re: ISRAEL 2019

According to Haaretz:
Financial solution found in Israel – Eurovision planning can continue.

https://www.haaretz.co.il/gallery/music/eurovision2018/1.6382012

KAN will take a loan and the government guarantees the loan.

It is not offical yet.
On Tuesday afternoon, a KAN spokeswoman said that it has not yet signed any deal

The whole thing is very confusing.

Re: ISRAEL 2019

Members of the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC) accepted on Tuesday the outline proposed by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon confirming that the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Israel next year as planned.

"The IPBC believes that the Israeli government will do its utmost to ensure the Eurovision in Israel next year will be conducted respectfully.”

Re: ISRAEL 2019

:at: won the jury vote. A win is a win.
How the hell winning the jury vote is equal to winning the whole ESC? The EBU calls those who have money first, not some "winners".

In 2015 the city of Vienna supported the ESC with 17 million Euros (The venues, marketing budget, public transport...).
In 2015 the city of Vienna weren't supposed to pay the bail  Only in the EBU's sick world the broadcasters have to pay the bail xfacepalm. If somebody screws up it will result in a court case and all the money will be arrested/frozen for everyone anyway so the bail is absolutely useless.

a contest, in which almost half of the competing countries are withdrawing from it solely based on whether they agree with the Israeli politics.
Who has already withdrawn? A half? Where? :?:

I have to feel a bit sad for :il:, which surely won't be able to host this fabulous contest next year.

QuestionableDelectableKinkajou-max-1mb.gif

"on the one hand[...]on the other hand". Two opposite states of mind, I guess...

None of the countries, which took part last year. However, it's already been proved that few of them might tend to do so, as :is: intended to participate at first sight before some of Icelandic people decided to sign a petition and sending it to the government. Moreover, this is even not the only country, in which some protests were going on against the host country (here israel): ireland, sweden, the uk.

Indeed, I exaggerated regarding the number of withdrawing countries, but some may not agree with the fact that :il: is hosting the ESC next year. :?

It is not. You put the posting out of context.

Of course calls the EBU those first who have the money and the expierence. So they wouldn't call Cyprus. The only way Cyprus could ever host the ESC is when they win the whole thing. Then there wouldn't be a way out for the EBU if they meet the requirements.

Finally , the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel was held as planned, a compromise was created between the Israel Broadcasting Corporation and the Ministry of Finance. The corporation received a loan from the Ministry of Finance worth NIS 50 million
