That's it, ditch The Late Late Show for god's sake! I'd love Ireland send something similar to 2014 with super Irish vibes and a good female vocalist. If Norway did well this year with viking vibe, why can't Ireland do the same with their roots? I'm sure it'd be received well in ESC.

Since Sweden is about to catch up with Ireland for the record number of wins, RTE needs to wake the hell up and select a song with winner potential next year, please.

Yes it's gotta shake them up :LOL:

I'd take this 100%! Something like Celtic Woman I would absolutely adore going for Ireland at Eurovision.

because rte did such a good job with that 2016 - 2021
Which is why I don’t want to hear a dicky bird about funding. If funding is the big issue for this delegation (which it must be given it’s the only thing Michael Kealy ever talks about) then surely our internal selections would be strong as the issue with funding is removed from the equation?

I have only brought up funding about there not being a dedicated tv show not about staging / the act itself

Nothing is going to change

I don't mind Jedward too much (well Waterline was utter rubbish, but I enjoyed Lipstick). I don't think going back and picking an artist from 10 years ago that's been able to qualify then, is the answer to turning Ireland's failure around though. Yes Ireland came top 10 in 2011 with Jedward but 2012 was hardly a roaring success. It's not like they're the 'Irish Loreen' that guarantees success. Time for RTE to look forward and pick another artist with vocal prowess and a good song. The suggestion that some in media have made of a 'Johnny Logan return' is ludicrous - I like Johnny a lot but he's had his time at Eurovision and his formula will not necessarily work again, anyway I don't think he'd agree to do it, reminds me of when UK picked Bonnie Tyler and Englebert Humperdinck and both flopped.

Loreen's victory equalising the irish records of double winner and most wins might wake RTE up (really doubt it though RTE has next to no funding for one)

Oh yeah, I imagine that everyone in the RTE offices seeing Sweden win immediately tried to run for cover: I imagine hot phones looking for artists in search of European glory, who could once again give prestige to the good name of good ole Ireland.

I imagine speeches like: "Guys, Sweden has reached us! We have to react! Defrost Westlife!" or something similar.

Ireland sent a fabulous song to the last jESC, maybe they could learn something from that?
They definitely should! That's precisely what I meant in my previous post. Sophie Lennon's song was stunning and should have won last JESC.
