1 - Here I Am (after first listening I thought it was ok, now I'm loving it! xmusic)
2 - Mistaken. Maria's voice xheart but the song is not as strong as her voice.
___

Don't like the rest but my ranking is

3 - Waterline
4 - Mercy
5 - Language of Love

Re: IRELAND 2012

My review:

01. Maria McCool - Mistaken
No doubt, that woman can sing however the song itself is anti climatic and never really manages to catch my full attention leaving me unsatisfied.

02. Donna MacCaul - Mercy
It's chart friendly and quite catchy, definitely a lot better than expected considering Donna was one half of the "Love" Disaster in 2005. I wish her well, her song has potential.

03. Andrew Mann - Here I am
That song stands out by a mile over the rest. It has these rock elements I really enjoy and the melodic chorus just really gets to me. With a proper live performance this could score big.

04. Una Gibney & David Shannon
Cute song & nice message. I feel there is something missing and I can't really figure out what it is but I appreciate a good duet so thumbs up from me.

05. Jedward - Waterline
I had low expectations and they still disappointed me. An incredibly dull boyband song, nothing memorable and I have no idea how Jedward can pull it off this time. They are performers, not singers and Lipstick had energy and excitement which is definitely not the case with this song.

Overall not a bad group of song. As a matter of fact I think three of these songs would be deserving to go to Baku IMHO. I'm worried (just like a lot of people here) that the whole NF is a farce and Jedward already won the ticket but there is always hope.

Ranking

01. Andrew Mann - Here I am
02. Donna MacCAul - Mercy
03. Una Gibney & David Shannon - Language of love

04. Maria McCool - Mistaken

05. Jedward - Waterline

Massively relieved to find Waterline's not a patch on Lipstick (a Jed win would be a disaster for ESC's reputation over here). Lipstick played perfectly to Jedward's strengths. This song appears designed to expose their weaknesses.

Re: IRELAND 2012

Hmm, the songs in the Irish NF is all decent.

Jedward - Much, much weaker song this year. I hope they don't win honestly.
Una Gibney & David Shannon - a typical ballad, not too interesting really. A good live performance can help this one.
Andrew Mann - I like this song, it has something that interests me.
Donna MacCaul - I like this song as well, with a good performance it can place in the top 3.
Maria McCool - Interesting song, but I sort of feel that it just never goes anywhere. Still it is a very nice ballad.

Mercy has to win this! I've not heard such a perfectly crafted pop song since "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha - and I know I've seen people comparing this track to that Ke$ha song, but this has more bite to it, I adore the beat, and I adore Donna's attitude in the vocals. Stunning track - my favourite from all of the national finals I've looked at!

Jedward's track will sink at Eurovision - it doesn't have that instant hook that Lipstick had. Andrew Mann would be a fair alternative to Donna in my opinion though - his track is nice.

As for the others - Mistaken is just terrible, such a blatant pastiche of all those faceless Irish songs from the mid-90's that I never ever saw the appeal of. And Language Of Love - well, that's obviously just trying to do a parody of countless Scandinavian power-pop tracks from the early 2000 (and failing miserably!)

DONNA FOR IRELAND!!!

Everything except Jedward will be ok, but "Mistaken" and "Language of love" are only ok and "Mercy" and "Here I am" are good! :D Donna is my number 1, although I'm not fan of this music style, her song is cool and catchy :)

Re: IRELAND 2012

1. Maria McCool - Mistaken - I just love Irish ethno music. Music, her voice... everything is just perfect. This is the first song from Ireland in last few years in which I fall in love on first sign. My absolutely and untouchable number one on irish nf this year.

2. Andrew Mann - Here I am - Reminds me a bit on Tom Dice, melody is ok, lyrics is ok. Good song

3. Una Gibney & David Shannon - Language of Love - I don't know, I can listen it and I can live without it. Indifferent

4. Donna MacCaul - Mercy - its to repeating for my taste, and music is too monotonous. After two listening its boring to death

5. Jedward - Waterline - this is totally fault. There is no chance for Jedward to win with this. Lipstick was catchy and fun, this is horrible.

Agree!

However if comments in here is an indication of the outcome, then none of us will be lucky this time :(

Re: IRELAND 2012

I actually like Andrew Mann's song as well. Language of Love is pretty harmless.

Jedward isn't so bad but I think Lipstick suited their whole persona a lot better than Waterline does.
I think they'll be in for a more disappointing result with it.
