I guess I'm being unreasonably optimistic. But leave me in my "happy place" :D

I shall join you in that happy place. I still hold some hope that Jedward will fall, probably by the hands of Donna.

I think Lipstick was better than Waterline and I see the twins winning again since the other songs are really bad.

Waterline should win, it is the best song and I actually prefer it to Lipstick. I remember when Lipstick was first chosen most people (except Jedward fans) hated it, and that's certainly not the reaction to Waterline.

Re: IRELAND 2012

I can only compare Jedward's second attempt to taht of Lena last year (since it's the most recent and therefore probably still the most relevant comparison). She won in 2010, and then only just managed to scrape a 10th place finish last year with the final country's vote. Jedward got 8th last year, so I can only expect that they'd struggle to make the top 15 this year (if they even advance from the semi). Gimmicks don't last for long - you need more than some bouncing around and ridiculous hair to have success.

If Ireland wants all of Europe to roll their eyes, put Jedward through.
If Ireland wants Europe to be captivated by a modern and unique composition, put Andrew Mann through (his track has grown on me immensely).
If Ireland wants to live in the past, put Celtic Whispers ft. Maria McCool or Una & David through.
And if Ireland wants to embrace a classic pure-pop anthem, Donna is the only choice.

DONNA or ANDREW for Baku!! :)

Re: IRELAND 2012

My thoughts:

Una Gibney & David Shannon - The composition of it quite surprised me and it's quite alright but I can't believe the cheesiness of it, especially the lyrics. Shina a light, language of love? Seriously? It's like they've tried to throw every love song cliché into it...
Andrew Mann - This song is kinda boring and "Here I Am" is such an overused song title :L
Donna McCaul - Typical pop song but it's one of the better choices on offer here :)
Maria McCool - Ireland's token Celtic sounding downtempo song  This is boring as hell and so old fashioned. Please Ireland don't choose this.
Jedward - I really dislike it when an artist from the previous year comes back but I think it's for the best this time. I'm definitely feeling the Busted vibes other people have suggested and it's different from Lipstick which helps

My ranking:
1. Jedward
2. Una Gibney & David Shannon
3. Donna McCaul
4. Andrew Mann
5. Maria McCool

So yeah...Jedward to Baku please... :/ xD

I think people who are on about the Jedward gimmick too are ignoring the fact that Waterline is actually the best song here too!

Re: IRELAND 2012

I'm really worried that Jedward will actually win it, despite the meagreness of their song. I saw about 20 Jedheads out on O'Connell Street there over the weekend in a big group trying to garner support, and it's that mobilised force that will swing it for them. Even though Donna has a better song, her voting clout has diminished severely since 2005. Back then her uncle draped a large banner asking people to vote for herself and her brother over his pub in the middle of their town, but now his pub has closed down and I don't think many people know she's going for it outside of a few circles. So then I think that the majority watching the Late Late, which probably will consist of the elderly here as they tend to be the main audience for it, might vote for Maria McCool or possibly Language of Love, and then the Jedward Army, who are bloody terrifying btw, will vote en masse for Jedward and then we'll be left with a disappointing result in Baku because of a) a weak song and b) the lack of countries that normally vote for us in our Semi.
Oh well.

Lipstick was much better than this one. Let's see if Jedward are popular enough to make it to Baku without help of a great song.

You opinion does not make it a fact. I personally think it's the weakest song. I'm not denying that they will win this cause of the product that they are but don't throw the word "fact" around when there is no such thing in a subjective world.

^ Oh, no. If he says it it's fact. The queen says so.

Andrew Mann is by far my favorite, and I hope he can surprise with a win.

I used fact as a figure of speech. I dont tend to take things people write so literally but you know...

Re: IRELAND 2012

Jedward have the best song here imo, and I find it much better than the annoying "Lipstick" entry, but I think they will get nowhere with that song in case they win, and that can be said for other songs here as well.

I expected stronger entries, but I have to say it is quite a weak NF, unfortunately :( And also, I see none of these entries doing well in Baku.

Re: IRELAND 2012

Last year, I didn't like Jedward's song. This year I like their song and from all the Irish songs this year, Jedward's one is the best.

Re: IRELAND 2012

I actually think the songs this year for Ireland are very good. Bit of a variety going on. Some of the songs would have won hands down 10-15 years ago its just a shame as to what Europe will like in 2012. I like Mercy by Donna. It's a get up and dance type of song and would be a crowd pleaser. Waterline will get through just because of Jedward's fanbase. I prefer to last year's song but I think it will have Lena's downfall like last year. Language of Love is very very cheesy but has the right message. Here I am would have been good years back but I don't think there is an appeal for this type of song this year. As for Mistaken....mystical, cultural and is actually quite good! For me this song might have appeal that people would appreciate as is going back to their celtic roots. I'd be happy with Mercy, Mistaken or maybe even Jedward's.
