^ lol We say that in Greek too. (γουρούνι στο σακί) even though it means that you buy something and you don't know what's inside it but then you have to keep all of it so I guess the meaning is kinda the same.

I love "Det gör ont"! WAAAAAAAY better in swedish! But luckily Lena did good in ESC as well. :)

Well it won't work if I'm the only one who sends the mail. :p

Re: ICELAND 2012 - Gréta Salóme & Jónsi - Mundu eftir mér

I strongly agree that Mundu eftir mer should definitely stay in Icelandic - it just sounds right with the almost folky-style melodies and the instrumentation, has a very mystical feel like it's from an old Icelandic legend or fairytale.

As for the changing native language songs into English after their selection for Eurovision, I don't really agree with it for all of the reasons that Sean and A-lister have highlighted. But having said that, I don't believe I would have loved Euroband's 2008 entry if it hadn't been translated into English. Some songs suit it more than others. But as for Mundu eftir mer, Icelandic all the way (although we have to go away to 1997 with Paul Oscar's entry for the last Icelandic entry that was sung at Eurovision in it's native language - every entry since then has been translated into English!)

Yes, leave it in Icelandic, if it was up to me, I'd cancel the "sing in any language you want" rule.

It's pretty obvious when you think about it, A-lister.

Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins is an Icelandic song contest in and of itself and really has nothing to do with ESC. However (obviously), the contest is also use to choose the Icelandic Eurovision entry each year.
So the logic behind this is: "Söngvakeppni is an Icelandic competition for the Icelandic public and should therefore be in Icelandic. ESC is international so the Icelandic entry can be in any language the artists/composers see fit.

Also, making up a rule that songs chosen in national finals would have to stay in their original language in Eurovision as well is pretty silly.
Remember that a song isn't a Eurovision entry until the broadcaster officially enters it to the EBU. The EBU has (and will have) no say in how the entries are chosen - that is at the full discretion of the broadcaster.
The EBU doesn't care if the song was performed in English or Icelandic or Chinese in the national final - because it's not a Eurovision entry until it has been officially entered by the broadcaster. Whatever happens in between is up to the broadcaster.

‎"'Mundu eftir mér' vil blive oversat til engelsk til Eurovision Song Contest i Baku, og får efter sigende titlen 'Remember Me'."

I hope the link above works for you guys! We asked Greta to keep the song in icelandic and then we had a conversation (not with her) about the language and the posts stating that the song will be translated/performed in english and she just replied this:

I don´t know where you got this information about the song title but there is nothing certain and no statements have been made about this.

So we can hope... :)

It's Greta's fb profile. I guess you have to be her friend to see this maybe? Try this one https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=640790445

Anyway she replied again and she said they're working on english lyrics for the song. She gave us quite a big reply. I can quote it if you want.

Translating her response, she seems to be quite annoyed at people for asking her to keep it in Icelandic. She doesn't seem to understand that some songs do not work in English. She needs to get a grip before she blows her chances of winning.

Maybe they should do like 50/50 with language.
But before not listening I don't know to tell does it works.

Maybe it is time for Island to win the contest. I think they earned it and this song would be a good winner. But who knows. After last year everything is uncertain.
