I am not a big fan of how the Raab comeback went so far.
But course, this is very exciting, and might mean that we finally get something different.

Yeah, color me excited but suspicious for the same reasons as you all. He might have reached his prime just like Ralph Siegel, who he was always mocking during his successful era. Plus its RTL.
But nevertheless, these are the exciting news were were hoping to hear for more than a decade now so I will not complain! (Plus it could be worse if the collab would be with Sat.1 xlmao)
I hope it will not only be a casting-show-ripp off like Unser Star was (the days these shows worked are finished) but I would rather see something Bundesvision-Song-Contest-inspired where established yet unknown bands represent a federal state or region. On Pro Sieben this format has been worn off over the years because it were always the same established / boring faces competing (Free European SC).

I would just like Raab to search for indie and underground artists that would work at esc, Germany has so many of these.

But, please, as you said, no more people from the voice and things like that. Search for artists not for singers.

By the way, more details coming on Thursday officially. I am still sceptical because I hope Raab knows that we have 2024/5, his musical taste sometimes seems like he is still in the 2000's, but let's see what he got for us. Positively, he has many music connections and let's hope there are some bigger names!

I think it would be really cool if Raab found a way into the Ayliva, Berq, JEREMIAS, Nina Chuba, Provinz etc world, a.k.a German acts younger people actually listen to on Spotify. We'll see what kind of people he can bring together, probably noone too famous interested but I think a call from Raab might be more persuasive than a call from some of the NDR people. After all, he did get someone like Ski Aggu for a collab already lol.

In general, I'm not that worried about his personal taste or whether or not he's out of touch with ESC music. Mainly because no matter what happens, it literally cannot get worse LOL but also because I don't think he's going to write the song himself (at least I hope so). I just think it's cool it looks like we get an actual national final next year, with multiple shows and maybe a little more professionalism than these insanely cringey, half-assed 10.30pm ARD shows of the past few years.

Hope it won't be a casting format a la Unster Star für Oslo though. I'd be really here for something more BuViSoCo inspired. That was never overly diverse genre-wise, but at least he wasn't opposed to music in German lol.

Oh :(

Well high five 'cause I also caught a cold in the past few days
OFFTOPIC

I listen constantly to a Japanese song recently and want to share it with you as you could like it. His singing skills are beyond everything --- I would wish someone like this for the German ESC - especially with 71 Mio streams. xlmao

As long as we won't be getting some embarrassing "talent show" format on RTL's streaming platform "RTL+", I'm cautiously optimistic.

It's nice to see Raab coming back as well as getting another broadcaster involved. This makes the whole "selecting a song for Eurovision" a broader approach... like it's something the nation could really care about.
At least, ESC got a lot of exposure these days (it's crazy to think that even news outlets talked about Raab's participation in our national final!).

Ooooh görls, I'm kinda optimistic about this!
Raab is not really in tune with the zeitgeist but he doesn't have to be really, since he's not the star, but the producer. And he knows how to produce a national selection and his name will attract talented people.
Also RTL is a great partner for this, decades of experience with producing live shows with pop music. And I think their target audience is important to make such a selection generally more relevant again with the broader general public. RTL reaches people like my mother and step father who used to watch every contest but stopped due to our flop era.

So far, on paper, this all sounds very good. Everyone involved has experience with these things and have been doing it well in the past. Raab has also been very experimental with these shows (see the format change of 2012) so I doubt he wouldn't try something interesting for a comeback.
When no one fucks it up, we will have something that will reach Melodifestivalen quality in terms of show production but hopefully a fresher sound musically.

I am cautiously optimistic. Never have been a true Raab-Fan, but it is a change and hopefully a fresh one. I am excited to hear what kind of news we will be getting tomorrow. I am HOPING that Raab knows what he is doing!
