haha - wow - (I'm not laughing at her being sick) she had the one and only decent and competitive song in this bunch of non-eventful songs! Actually, I think she would have been even slightly better than most of the NF songs.

I literally just discovered that Bodine Monet is Dutch? Tears Like Rain is great, and she sounds good live too (even prefer the live to the studio version). I would have been satisfied with that representing the Netherlands haha

These two have a cool style and I like them - I just wished they had applied with a different song. "Tanzen 1-8" is so much better then "Katze", and I like some of their other stuff too.

As for Bibiane: ........ but ofc we Lose the one decent song in that line up. I wish her a speedy recovery and the german audience the 1 braincell to know that Luca (who's a shoe-in for the NF now) would 100% be last in Malmö too. I guess congrats to Max Mutzke tho, who now won't have the worst song in the NF!

So Bibiane apparently asked the NDR to find an alternative solution, maybe put on a rehearsal or just audio or whatever and the NDR just declined? Rough tbh. I get that they didn't let Frida Gold compete but this is just a pre NF. Not that I think she's going to do anything but still. We saw Bibiane perform live already, and - if elected - she still would have gone through the live challenge next week. I saw quite a bit of outrage on instagram, even Poulish Kid Paul expressed his disapproval. Just one more headscratch moment from NDR imo. What happens if an actual good/favored artist gets sick, we just let the chance slide and settle for worse options....

Yes, she said in her insta story that she had hope for an alternative solution but it wasn't possible according to NDR...

On paper I should like his music but there's something about him that bores me to no end. I already had that feeling in 2018. He feels like an A-grade student that does everything more than well but there's so much X factor missing. I sense why last time he got the last votes by the public hence it would be a big televote flop to send him.

No idea how he would do with the televoters at ESC, but I think he would receive Juries votes, especially in the pool of so many uptempo songs this year. And should he do worse at ESC, it wouldn't matter to me - I love his song, just as I loved LOTL last year. Better drowning with a fantastic song than anything else. Which other choice do we have? The other songs are definitely bottom 5 guaranteed.

I don't think people would really care much. Especially people in the west and north have close ties to the Netherlands, we don't view you as "foreign"... also let's be honest, she is blonde and white, she won't trigger the xenophobic germans as well

My issue would be that I don't think her song is really competitive. It's a nice radio song but not really an event.

Given the long history - not only but also in ESC - of foreign singers and entertainer (especially dutch ones) embraced in german industry this couldn't be further from the truth.

Yeah I am aware of that though! I feel like it's somewhat the same vice versa - Germany and German artists influencing our (creative) industry just as much, and I think most Dutchmen wouldn't care that much about someone German representing the Netherlands in Eurovision, but I meant that there will always be people that will feel like their representant should be native, despite the close ties our countries have.

Very true. I think people in eastern parts of the Netherlands just feel as close to Germany.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that, based on the media coverage Bodine got in the Netherlands and her being Dutch, there is a good chance she would get our 12 televoting points (or at least 10, like Stefania in 2021) if she were to go to Malmö. I can even see the jury giving her 12/10/8 points haha. This is your chance to guarantee avoiding last place Germany!!!!
