I was hard on Ryk but if the Germans genuinely like him then he must represent you and I think he will do well. If you choose Ryk as a lifesaver you might get burned. You have to be convinced of it emotionally and not rationally because ballads will enter the ESC that will take away points (everyone will have their favorite ballad). At the moment, do you feel like saying that Ryk would have an easy time against Slimane and St.Pedro?
I for example never regretted that we sent Lord of the Lost last year even though they finished last place. I loved the song and we couldn't have been better represented.
I feel the same about Ryk. One of the best songs we had in years! Yes, I do expect a better placing with him, and I hope that he will have a better staging. Will Ryk be better than Slimane or St. Pedro? I don't know. And you don't know as well. ;)

Bodine sounds great live. Her voice is beautiful, she seems to feel secure on stage, and I find her very sweet and charismatic.

But tbh I'm a little reluctant to send a song and artist with basically no ties to Germany? Bodine is dutch, and the song writing team includes no Germans either as far as I could see. I know this isn't unusual in ESC, and I'm normally indifferent to it. But with our situation right now, with Germany being last/second-to-last so often, and the question being "what does Germany need to do to not end up last?" - I don't want the answer to be "send something completely unrelated to Germany". I'm probably bring dramatic, but that feels like admiting defeat xD

Again, I really like Bodine though. I wouldn't mind hearing more from her and she's not generally a bad pick for ESC.
Live Bodine sounds really good. But somehow the power was missing in the performance. I hope she will fix that. I have no problem Bodine representing us, but my main focus is Ryk as I think that his song is the best we had in years. It would be a shame if we ended up with Marie, Max or actually even Bodine. But I almost fear that we end up with something and see ourselves at the bottom again.

NDR can get everything wrong but you can't say that he doesn't put passion and commitment into what he does. The best choice, in my opinion, is to accept your limits, choose a precise format and have patience. Furthermore, no to international jurors and voting.

NDR isn't a single person tho, and I'd *very much* deny that the people calling the shots care about ESC all together. The actual "executioners" like Alex Wolflast do, but I think people don't specifically mean them when they (rightfully) complain. Alex Wolflast also just has to work with the dumb limits she has.
I swear if Stefan Raab just randomly decides to crawl back into the spotlight again the ESC in Germany would do a 180°. He had what's basically a German ESC going on here for years with the german states going up against each other, and it was big and people loved it. Many Germans still love the ESC. NDR is just putting a damper on anything for years.

At the moment, do you feel like saying that Ryk would have an easy time against Slimane and St.Pedro?

No idea about "easy time", but personally I find "Oh boy" miles better then the predicteable clichee that is "Mon amour" or the absolute staging desaster St. Pedro has going on right now. I didn't find St. Pedro all that impressive vocally either, nor the song anything special.

And honestly, if it's 3 male ballads in 26 Songs, how is that that bad? Does Kaleens + Nutsas presense mean we shouldn't send Marie? I'd think Max would be the same area as Ryk = bad choice because Slimane and probably St. Pedro. Maybe even Isaak, he's vocally closer to Slimane then Ryk is IMO. Bodine will likely not stand out between Sweden and any girl BOP either if you categorize it like that. Leona is also a ballad. I'd say like this we're left with Katze =D

And I don't think many people would expect Ryk to do all that well with the televote anyway. It's the juries who most think would give him enough points to drag us out of the bottom 5. And the juries can absolutely reward more then one ballad at a time.

Bodine's performance is nice but I don't see how people in May would get excited by it to vote for it. Cause... I'm not getting excited by it either. It's pleasant. Hurts nobody. It's fine.

Super late to the party but I finally watched the Ich will zum ESC! episodes. Even though it was utterly useless in finding anything suitable for Eurovision, I didn't mind watching. It gave me some early days Popstars vibes, especially that one episode in which the candidates sang cover songs in groups with the lyrics sheets still in their hands lol. And since both of our wins basically came from random girls from the street, I don't mind in theory having that lane still open into our national final. The downside is that 'characters' like Poulish Kid or Apollson fall flat in that casting show model, because their voices and styles aren't suitable for cover songs and Rea Garvey song samples. But honestly, these are the kind of acts the NDR should pick directly anyway.

Ultimately however, the end results are pretty atrocious lmao. Like, if you do this with more or less newcomers, at least invest in the quality of the songs and buy something somewhere, a la Violent Thing or Standing Still or whatever. Don't do these horrendous things.

I think Bibiane has an amazing voice. Watching her do the songwriting session with Rea was like nails on a chalkboard - so uncomfortable LMAO. I kind of find it hilarious that she said on her youtube channel she totally wrote the end result on her own because she didn't like what they came up with in the show lol.

Anne Im's song sounds like a reject of a reject of a Taylor Swift song. I kind of want her to win the ticket because she's such a Eurovision dork and none of these songs will do anything.

Luca is charismatic, at least he brings some flavour into the selection with his Peter Maffayish musical random Italian screams song. I think he might win (the WC round). But it also sounds totally chaotic and random and pointless.

And Flo definitely has the weakest, laziest song of them all.

Niiiice! I hope this will give us a good impression on how "Oh boy" might be performed in the NF xheart
My mood is quite low right now. Just finished listening to the ESC Kompakt live. The bloggers believe that Luca will win IWZE AND the NF and will go to Malmö. Not because his song is well done, but just because of Conchita. Of course I have the fear also, just hope that this is not gonna happen. I would be crushed. I hope the Juries will do their job and place him low. :(

That would be super bad, given how weak Lucas song is. Guaranteed last place. But I don't yet feel like that is really gonna happen. The ESC Kompakt guys are cool and I like them, but they also thought last year that Ikke would 100% win no questions whatsoever. They can be wrong :)

And we don't even have stagings yet. I hope Ryk has a plan and will have a good staging. He seems very prepared.

I don't see this happening. He's not a very outstanding singer and his song won't appeal to the majority of the german audience. Everything about "Farben aller Tage" sounds just sooooo cringe to me. Even Jendrik and Sisters had better songs in my opinion...

"Constractual obligations" to who? I hope he still gets to Release it before the NF :(
It can only be meant NDR. I guess that the performance in this video is pretty much the same for the NF next week, so NDR probably forbid Ryk to reveal it beforehand. But why can Bodine have her live performance whereas Ryk can't? (She said though that her performance will be different than in the live video.)

This will be the reason. She was just performing in a talk show with no creative control, she just stood there and sang, so it doesn't give away anything. Ryk presents a whole production that shows how song this will probably be staged.

Even if Ryks live Video gives away how his song will be staged (although we know it won't exactly be the same, he'll be alone on the NF stage), won't the same apply to some degree to the wildcard? They get to perform their Songs live before the NF too. And most others do have music Videos that can be similar to their stagings later too. If this is the reason, it's a bloody stupid one.

Why didn‘t I realize what a great entry „always on the run“ is actually? I mean - I liked it at the first listening but recently I listened to it again and thought „wow - that voice!“ The chorus lacks something, but still it‘s ine of my favs in this selection so far.

It's nothin' but the average
Even though it's special to some
We can't refuse, we're going under
No one gives a shit about what's soon to come
