Here´s my ranking, it took quite a while to put my feelings regarding the songs in words.

1st place - Ryk with "Oh Boy": I´m actually suprised too since I wasn´t a big fan of Ryk before but this song has grown a lot for me. I listened to all songs again when I ranked them and "Oh Boy" was the only one I listened twice because it touched me so much, I also kinda like his voice now.

2nd place - Bodine Monet with "Tears like Rain": A very nice summer vibe in this song, I also really like the sound of her voice. Maybe not the most competitive song but I still enjoy it a lot.

3rd place - Isaak with "Always on the Run": A great voice as well and while I like the song too there are a bit too many "ohooos" for me in the chorus, in German this could´ve been sung by Max Giesinger as well. I still wouldn´t mind seeing this in Malmö even though the result would most likely be like Malik.

Well, now it goes really downhill for me. :(

4th place - NinetyNine with "Love on a Budget": This really reminds me of German singer Kamrad whose songs are on the radio everywhere, and that´s not a compliment. The verses are very short and after the second chorus the song is already over. It just feels kinda "empty" for me, it quickly fades from my mind as well.

5th place - Max Mutzke with "Forever Strong": Such a gifted singer with loads of charisma but his songs so far are pretty dull, with his entry from 2004 the only positive exception for me. His entry is veeery boring and monotonous and gets only carried by his voice, only at the end it gets a bit more powerful but then I already lost any interest.

6th place - Leona with "Undream You": She seems likable and has a nice voice. That´s all the positive things I can say, the song is dull Easy Listening stuff that´s forgotten very quickly.

7th place - Marie Reim with "Naiv": This song got inspired a lot by "Flowers" of Miley Cyrus, I always expect the lawyers to appear around the corner and sue her. For me the whole entry just sounds incredibly cheap, her voice which she inherited by her mother isn´t my cup of tea at all and I generally find her really unlikable and fake. It was really hard for me not to turn off the son
g.

8th place - Galant with "Katze": This entry is just a giant WTF for me, and not in a good way. It´s just very uneventful and boring for me and her sluggish style of singing is also very off putting for me. Nope, don´t like that at all!!

I am really in love with "Oh Boy". But as I know we will choose the wrong option and will land at the bottom again.

Here's a great reaction video of Ryk's song:

I'm surprised about myself. I really liked "Undream you" on the first listening. Up to last year or so this kind of song would have make me press the skip button after a fraction of a second. But all of a sudden - I find myself liking that stuff.

Second song I immediately liked - mainly because of his voice - "Always on the run". But the verses here are stronger than the chorus.

Ryk, who get's praised here a lot didn't touch me. Gonna give that one a second listening soon though.

Not surprising since you didn´t like :ch: 2020 and 2021.

Yeah, probably. These depressed young men and their "Weltschmerz" don't really appeal to me. But hey - I didn't expect my taste to turn towards Billie Eilish vibes and yet... So maybe that'll change also.

I'd say Leona is much more Olivia Rodrigo than Billie ;)

It seems the target group of Germany’s selection could be the parents of the target group of UMK …

My first impression: No Eurovision winners in there, and no wild experiments either. I like the cat song because I like cats. 😆

I must say I'm still pretty happy with the selection since all the rumored acts got included except you-know-who. Notably the diversity is lower than the year before, but on the plus side we don't get the same unnerving controversy as with Lord of the Lost and Ikke. The overall quality of the songs is at least on par with the last years. And we still have to wait for the selection of the wildcard entry.
I'm not going to rank the entries beforehand as my personal experience from last year was that some of them underachieved and some exceeded the expectations when they were live on stage. So here are my first thoughts, and since the negatives have already been discussed at length, I will focus on the positives. In alphabetic order:

Bodine Monet – Tears Like Rain: Powerful, expressive and interesting voice with a good range. She dances in the video and seems to enjoy the song to it's full extent, which can be contagious. The song itself is quite catchy.
GALANT – Katze: Brings some diversity into the selection with an electronic and minimalistic style. Could be mesmerising to watch, just as it could be a unique performance on stage and has the potential to stand out from the competition. The first of only two songs written in German for this competition so far.
ISAAK - Always On The Run: In my eyes the vocal powerhouse in the preselection. His pop song thrives on this energy. Expect some true emotions on stage!
Leona – Undream You: A voice as delicate as a frozen rose and a song about love and longing. What else could you wish for? Contrasts the other loud songs pretty good and therefore stands out, especially with a suitable staging.
Max Mutzke – Forever Strong: Max Mutzke returns to the contest after 20 years, bringing with him all the experience and talent it takes. The song gives him enough room to play with his voice and to express his feelings. The title of the song says it all.
Marie Reim – Naiv: Time to put German Schlager on the eurovision stage. Unique in the preselection and a decent representative of the genre. "Naiv" carries a lot of energy and has a driving rhythm. The second entry in German.
NinetyNine – Love On A Budget: Casual and modern love song. Strong rythm, a nice flow and some catchy parts. Shows great vocal skills without overdoing it.
Ryk – Oh Boy: Returns to the preselection after five years, not without good reason, to say the least. The siren-like sound effects are cool and Ryk's voice with the high notes gives a nice contrast to them. It's an epic, emotional and yet mysterious song which he sings from his heart.

Congrats German neighbours, you have a good selection this year. Looking forward to this NF.

My faves are: Tears like Rain, Oh Boy, Always on the Run, Katze and Naiv. For different reasons.

Voted there too. But it is just the opinion of the ESC Kompakt bubble. I rather think that Max or Marie will make it in February. Their fanbase is quite huge. I keep my fingers crossed for Ryk though.

I think it's my 2nd favourite now.

It's too late for an exorcist unless they are a böse Katze.
