Yes, he is. He had already reviewed Ryk's song a month ago, saying that it could win the whole ESC. :(
I don't think it could have won (unless staged really, really well), but I'm happy when others say it =D
I've seen some comments on Twitter too, that Germany had the choice between 1st and last - and picked wrong. Mostly from Swedish Fans too I think

And I hope Ryk can see the positive comments he got. He said the pressure really got to him, and that's understandable IMO. But that pressure also came from a lot of fans really loving him :)

I mean.... it was a joke.
But what is "edgy" in regards to "Oh Boy"? And in terms of quality I've seen several weaker songs in Melodifestivalen this year xshrug
- The many unusual key changes (it‘s not - as in mainstream music the tonic-dominant-subdominant scheme with at best a change to a higher register with the same scheme)
- The (from a melodic point of view) minimalistic chorus
- The lack of certein mainstream structure elements (for instance I didn‘t notice a bridge and the song is not built towards a big finale)
- his own description of his music as „pop music with a twist“

In my opinion she didn´t sing well. And what do you wanna do now?? xshrug

Receptive amusia does exist for a reason (y) I love how you ignore the rest of the comment which addresses the whole issue I have with you here. No opinions allowed on the show except if they align with your own preferences. Stay negative I guess.

Unpopular: Ryk wouldn't have been anywhere close to a top 10 in May. The right choice for Germany would have been Marie, since schlager always works in Eurovision even if it's bad schlager.

Isaak song is not that bad like a lot of people here Is saying: it's tame, but tame doesn't mean bad. It will be a bottom five finisher and probably will come last in the televote, but won't be last with the juries.

He sounded good, but the song is just so meh. I wonder what Germany needs to do. They took risk last year but wasn't rewarded. So they are back giving us song in another shade of beige. Giving this a :5:.

GERMANY 2024 - Marie Reim - Naiv

Justice for our barefoot songstress who served pure c*nt, drama, vocals & could easily be on the Real Housewives of Hamburg if they ever made one - she gave the gays everything they wanted AND MORE. A pure act of homophobia by the German people and jury I feel x

None of that has anything to do with being edgy to me. It's not mainstream, sure, and has some more experimental elements. But edgy is just not the word for it (though given most usages of it, the word lost most meaning anyway I guess). Tho this is also semantics.

Ryk definitely doesn't fit the usual swedish contestant, I agree about that part. But honestly, I'd trust Sweden to be willing to try something new more then ARD or German audiences to remotely learn what works at ESC.

Ryk finished #5 in the international jury voting - the Betting Odds were totally mad/crazy lately.
Of course, we would be dealing with different people in May but there would be the likes of Cesar Sampson, Luca Hänni as well - it would probably not be ranked high by the juries in May, either.

So I guess it would have been "20th place" anyway - With Isaak, Ryk or Max :D

You’re right, there has been an artificial odds hype around Ryk. It was a chance for top 20 but I don’t think THAT strong jury support for top 10 would haben been very realistic. Well possible but not a safe bet.

Anyway, the biggest two problems are the NF jury and in general the rigged/ fishy voting system. The juries seem to vote purely on personal taste, maybe radio friendliness, I don’t know? At least they are not voting based on what is the song with the best chances. I mean last year they voted for that Will Church song?!? For two years now the :de: jury voting in general is all over the place. The jury result therefore is always quite close. So please, if you want juries then make some changes, get people that make more sense. I don’t know, just look at other countries and take some notes.

And second, it’s a joke that you transfer the jury points into a 1-12 system. It’s actually really an active way of rigging the outcome! And of course it’s totally crazy to leave the lines open until the jury voting has been announced. Well good for NDR/ ARD to get some additional money from the calls but come on… In my opinion Isaak was only 1st in the televoting ranking due to that fact. It was quite pointless now to vote for Ryk now for example.
