I don't think it could have won (unless staged really, really well), but I'm happy when others say it =DYes, he is. He had already reviewed Ryk's song a month ago, saying that it could win the whole ESC.![]()
You honestly think Melfest would take an artist like him? Was there ever a song there that was closely as edgy as Ryks? That guy is swedish, isn't he? The swedish Jury gave Ryk 12 points, Edward af Sillén loved him... at least Sweden loves Ryk. Maybe he should really apply for Melodifestivalen xD
I mean.... it was a joke. You honestly think Melfest would take an artist like him? Was there ever a song there that was closely as edgy as Ryks?
- The many unusual key changes (it‘s not - as in mainstream music the tonic-dominant-subdominant scheme with at best a change to a higher register with the same scheme)I mean.... it was a joke.
But what is "edgy" in regards to "Oh Boy"? And in terms of quality I've seen several weaker songs in Melodifestivalen this year![]()
In my opinion she didn´t sing well. And what do you wanna do now??![]()
- The many unusual key changes (it‘s not - as in mainstream music the tonic-dominant-subdominant scheme with at best a change to a higher register with the same scheme)
- The (from a melodic point of view) minimalistic chorus
- The lack of certein mainstream structure elements (for instance I didn‘t notice a bridge and the song is not built towards a big finale)
- his own description of his music as „pop music with a twist“
This is so sad. Finally back in the odds where we belong. 20th place.
None of that has anything to do with being edgy to me. It's not mainstream, sure, and has some more experimental elements. But edgy is just not the word for it (though given most usages of it, the word lost most meaning anyway I guess). Tho this is also semantics.
Ryk definitely doesn't fit the usual swedish contestant, I agree about that part. But honestly, I'd trust Sweden to be willing to try something new more then ARD or German audiences to remotely learn what works at ESC.
Highly doubt that. but yes, in this aspect we have different opinions.Ryk finished #5 in the international jury voting - the Betting Odds were totally mad/crazy lately.
Of course, we would be dealing with different people in May but there would be the likes of Cesar Sampson, Luca Hänni as well - it would probably not be ranked high by the juries in May, either.
So I guess it would have been "20th place" anyway - With Isaak, Ryk or Max![]()
With Marie we would at least get a song in German and a rare representative of genre that a lot of people in Germany hate, but also love very much.So I guess it would have been "20th place" anyway - With Isaak, Ryk or Max![]()
