Germany really needs to normalize inviting artists a second time to the NF, like Sweden and other countries do it. I hope we see Patty again, too. And Trong with a better song. He is super talented. Give him a good bop and watch him slay the competition. It's too early to talk about next year but my dream is that we get a bigger NF. Maybe with two SFs and a final.
Ikke announced he wants to try again next year....... be careful what you wish for

Not my type of music but it looks like it is going to have an interesting stage performance

First time in many years that I’m happy with our song. Finally something interesting and not “radio friendly”. Guess it will be the first time in years we don’t need to be afraid to get a big zero from the audience ! And even if the result won’t be good it’s nice to see there are finally people really supporting our entry here...

Well, that was an entry of good and bad, for sure.

The good being, Germany finally sending something daring, and many other small things about the song - the scream parts, some of the riffs and even the backing melody in the calm parts, sort of.

The bad being, the overall structure of the song, and the vocals. I'm hoping this was just an unusally bad night for him - and somehow they managed to win anyway - because he really wasn't carrying those low parts at all, his voice sounded very thin and almost toneless. If that is what he always sounds like, i don't get why such a professional band would choose such a weak singer, but maybe it's all about his stage antics.

Also the song consists of too many short parts with no real relation or transition between them, having the calm parts and the different riffs are fine, but they shouldn't have gone back-and-forth so many times. Most of all, the chorus is really forgettable, just a bad Ghost ripoff and ironically the worst part of the song.

That being said, Germany is almost surely in top 20 this year, which is progress, and it's good to see old crazy Eurovision entries back as they should be. I just don't see this as one of the standout songs this year.

It is interesting that you mention his voice. Many (and I do mean MANY) Youtubers especially put emphasis on how fantastic he sounds live. So maybe you are in the minority here?

Re: us in the odds

Do we have any German company that offers Eurovision bets ? I don’t think so, do we? Bwin doesn’t offer Eurovision any longer. I think if it was easier for Germans to bet on themselves we would be higher now ;)

Chris has a wonderful voice. So deep and warm and soothing. But I agree his voice sounded a little flat on Friday. I hope he sings the slow piano part not too fast and with a cat‘s purr in May.

Our laws prevent us from betting on such events. It´s even forbidden in Germany and thus, German fans/viewers can´t bet on their own entries unlike British/Irish fans (bookies are quite popular there... that´s the reason why the UK usually gets decent betting odds at the beginning despite flopping throughout the last decade).

While the sound mixing wasn't amazing, his vocals sound great to me? It's almost exactly like the studio version and one of the best vocal performances that night.

Edit: But to emphasize... I'm not trying to blindly defend them here, but to me the main issue was basically the sound mixing and all, rather than his voice/vocal abilities but I could be wrong.

That will be a big reason currently and our reputation is probably also dragging us down. But it's still weird to see us below countries like Ireland. Who's betting on them?

That’s why I can’t bet any more. The last time I did was 2019 I think. I always searched and searched and didn’t find anything. Stupid me didn’t get it.

Not the fanboys going: „stop attacking me for my opinion *cry emoji*“ while, you guessed it, attacking others for not liking the song. Some people are wild. o_O

It doesn’t get any better if you repeat it multiple times. I didn’t read anyone here attacking others for not liking Blood & Glitter.

Let's all wash off the clown makeup and just move on. It's cringe to get too defensive, but it's also clownery to be overly harsh about songs to force a reaction and then act surprised when people respond.

Always a good time on the internet (Oh Oh -- Uh - Oh Oh)

(I'm probably not completely innocent of similar behaviour by the way. But I also don't take myself seriously at all and don't care anymore after 10 minutes)

Well it’s a discussion forum. What do you expect?
People are asked to give their opinions in here.
Some just in general need to take a chill pill. It’s not that deep.

That’s the thing though: people do shit and call others out for the exact same behaviour.
Maybe just idk let people give their opinions and chill. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think thats quite a good entry for Germany this year. Most metal fans will dislike it though and the juries will not have it on top of their list I think. Maybe they will make it to the left hand side of the score board. but this is not a top 10 entry.

I agree but I honestly read no one here that attacked someone harshly "Why don’t you like Blood & Glitter?" (Or I must have missed it.)

I'm truly surprised that of all threads this one was mentioned because I believe we're all very well aware that Germany will not suddenly be top contender or Blood & Glitter is THE BESTEST of best songs. On the contrary, some of us, including me, even said it isn’t even LOTL's best song. I think we‘re Germans are very modest when it comes to our song, after all the disasters in the last years. We‘re just happy and celebrating LOTL was chosen.
