juries don’t give a fuck about betting odds

lol juries basically chose their top 10 in the past years almost ONLY based on the top 10 betting odds!

Of course they are massively influenced by the betting odds.

If you compare the jury and the televote of the past ten years then - with a few (!) exceptions - the jury sticked way closer to the betting odds than the audience.

They are playing safe, of course. How can the jurors explain why they voted for a song way down in the odds, especially with their names being published? People would accuse them of manipulation for not voting for the favourites. They are much too afraid to vote for anything far beyond the top ten, with EXCEPTIONS of course if a song is especially jury friendly, like North Macedonia for example.

There's still a clear influence for me, especially last year and before. But opinions may vary :)
Well I’m glad you already have prepared something to blame if Germany doesn’t do well. Correlation isn’t causality. I’ve presented some arguments based on facts, seems like you can’t go anywhere from ”well it’s my opinion so I’m right”

ESCunited has become such tinfoil hat territory. Explain:
- Belgium 2010
- France 2011 (1st in odds)
- Italy 2011
- Albania 2012
- Italy 2012 (2nd in odds)
- Austria 2014 (the juries ranked her 1st on a Wednesday night, Conchita wasn’t a favorite until after semi 2)
- Latvia 2015
- Italy 2017 (1st/2nd in odds)
- Austria 2018
- North Macedonia 2019

Since you want to talk jury rigging with odds, was Poland, San Marino, Romania, Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Romania some favorites to win in 2022 then? lol

I always find it funny how these right wingers think they're in the position to judge what is and is not normal aka should be accepted or not. As if they own the society. If these people are the norm then I rather be not normal. This makes me love them even more!
Especially when they decide to clutch their pearls over something that has been around for decades.

Whoo. One example per year. That changes everything. /s

That’s the exception I was talking about. Each year juries vote for that one "artistic" "sophisticated" song the audience didn’t care for.

But other than than, juries vote safely. Or do you think juries would vote for a song that is dead last in the odds? (exceptions see above) How will they justify this? People would scream "rigged" "manipulation".

I think last year was an exception. Maybe a step in the right direction. Maybe the won’t do it anymore. I hope so.

Happy they uploaded it but at the same time it’s just ridiculous how small the stage is and how it affects the visuals. This will look much much better on a bigger stage but for now, seeing Chris almost jumping at one point only, is so sad! Not the very best promo for them, but hey. They will rock this in May.

Gotta love people who come to a public (DISCUSSION) forum and then get butthurt over someone not liking their faves. A classic that never gets old.

Yes, one example per year. Because each year there is one jury winner and one betting odds winner, dumbass. I can't highlight 16 jury winners or that a song that was 17th in the odds got 14th with the juries. I'd like to see you come up with ONE example of the juries not liking a song in a semi and then suddenly liking it because it got better odds before the finale

Seems legit to insult people for having their own opinion. Very grown.

Wish I was here to live comment on the whole nf but I watched it with friends and Twitter was more comfortable to use while watching. Some tweets even got some small traction 💅

Anyway. I'm sooo happy that LOTL won, but that's no secret. And I don't think there were big surprises in the results after watching every performance. Before the show I thought René would be the jury darling but Will was the stronger vocalist so it does make sense. I'm happy the jury gave Anica her flowers.
What surprised me a bit was that Trong wasn't last in the public vote. The song is just so meh and that german phrase was C R I N G E as fuck, I almost spat out my Coca Cola. But I guess it had more appeal than the ballads. The public made it very very clear: Germany is TIRED of sending ballads or mid-tempo pop.

And the elephant in the room: My gal and queen Patty Gurdy shares a similar fate as Benjamin and became last. Why is one of my Top 2 favs always ending up last?! But her performance just wasn't giving, it makes sense, sadly. The nerves got to her and they gave her the absolute worst snippet in the recap, that was the nail in the coffin. But she wasn't ready so it's for the better.
I hope she returns one day with an even stronger song and just stays true to herself. What we saw on Friday wasn't the Patty Gurdy I fell in love with.

Now, what's worrying me is that we are DROPPING in the betting odds. Doesn't mean much yet. Michael Schulte dropped in the odds as well until the rehearsals. I don't think Germany will get many jury points this year though, so it will all depend on the televote in May to prevent a last place. But LOTL has an international fanbase, so maybe that'll prevent the worst. And after the tweet of that ex AfD c*nt we really have to get some points just out of spite.

I'm not blaming anyone and I didn't even say I'm right. To me the influence between juries and odds is apparently clear considering the final results from the past 2 years. You're the one getting personal which is just annoying.

The Eurovision line up this year is such a manifest of Planet Jupiter in Aries. Many songs this year are so loud, chaotic and seizure-inducing, others are more juvenile and carefree, which is also a good fit. But almost every song aims for the punch line, except for Albania, Belgium and Ukraine, who all chose under the Pisces Jupiter.

It's really interesting to watch from this perspective.

Germany really needs to normalize inviting artists a second time to the NF, like Sweden and other countries do it. I hope we see Patty again, too. And Trong with a better song. He is super talented. Give him a good bop and watch him slay the competition. It's too early to talk about next year but my dream is that we get a bigger NF. Maybe with two SFs and a final.
