I'm worrying about the jury in may. It annoys me so much that they put rock/metal songs dead last all the time

We haven´t got many generic radio-friendly pop songs or ballads this year, though and juries will have to vote for some entries.

The most radio-friendly pop song is probably :pl: but I don´t think it will be qualifying 100% :D

Yeah, that's pretty much how it always goes when an artist you like eventually makes it to Eurovision or comes back even. I have it with Voyager this year and most of my 2020 faves returning with weaker songs in 2021 for example. When these artists we are familiar with get the special ticket to Eurovision it's usually with not one of their best. On the one hand we are fans and so have expectations the average person won't have.

I think your entry could grow on me and even if not it still looks to be pretty much a shoe-in for my top 10 at this point (it's already sitting there) as I don't expect much better to come now. Blood & Glitter is fine, could be heavier, yes.. but eh. You get to enjoy an entry from your own country for the first time in years xmetal

I really want to get the song title of the song which Lord Of the Lost submitted to our broadcaster last year! (and if it´s a more hard-hitting/better song) - I still had to give them the :12: , though.
Voyager, btw, are growing on me as well - it´s not another "Dreamer" (and probably won´t turn into one) but it´s a good entry, nonetheless...

and I can´t wait for Voyager to meet Lord Of The Lost in May.
I can totally see them hanging out, beeing goofy and getting along very well.. especially, since the Australian lead singer is German :D They will be having so much fun together!!

139 pages, wooow Germany you are the ultimate winner!

Really strange for me, to see this schlager rock song, a good old school festival songs I like/love..
After many years :de: sounds more European than :us: lol
And this is the closest sounding song to :fi: Lordi schlager in ESC, since then.. :D

:10: in the poll

Lord Of The Lost have been one of my favourite German artists for years now (together with Beyond The Black, Faun and Powerwolf)!
I love all of these bands too! But on a funny note, Powerwulf have been giving me the best lyrical earworms ever! Their lyrics are just epic. Just recently I was singing „we are the werewolves of Armenia" all week long, driving my husband crazy! :ROFLMAO:

Formed in 2009, Lord of the Lost is a five-member band from Hamburg St. Pauli, that is made up of singer Chris Harms, guitarist Pi Stoffers, bassist Klaas Helmecke, multi-instrumentalist Gared Dirge and drummer Niklas Kahl.

With a sound that has settled somewhere between rock, metal, glam, wave and pop, Lord of The Lost has performed at many German and international festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, M'era Luna and Summer Breeze Festival. In addition to this, they have staged their own tours on big stages in over 30 countries.

The band win Unser Lied für Liverpool with the title track of their new studio album Blood & Glitter. This album immediately hit number 1 in the German charts at the beginning of January after only 6 days of pre-sales.

I know that "being well-established and successful" doesn´t mean that they will automatically be "successful at Eurovision" but oh boy.. when there we album to come up with such a great "press text" for eurovision.tv?

It´s too good to be true!

So happy about our entry, my favvorite German song since 2006 (!)
The camera work during the show was a bit weird as the studio was too small... Barbara confused as always ("The piano boy that won in 2018" or "Get well soon, Frida", but the variety of songs and ofc LOTL winning really are what matters in the end...12 points :-)

Haha! I know! - Powerwolf´s are even "cheesier" in terms of lyrics and melodies than Lord Of The Lost (more epic, though)-

They even re-recorded this song together:

Been out all night so no chance to follow this show tonight, but what happened to Patty Gurdy? I thought she was a fan favourite along with LOTL, but she finished last?

Unfortunately, she had the worst (vocal) performance of the night.
She looked very insecure on stage (like she didn´t know how to perform or what to do).

Actually, I was shocked at how lacklustre her performance was + how mediocre/bad her vocals were.

She was last with the juries but still #3 in the televoting/online vote.

This was probably the best song that germany could have chosen. I do feel bad for Anica cause in my opinion, she had the best staging and vocals of the night. I also cannot believe that will church won the jury vote, he definitely was not the best jury bait of the night.

Unfortunately she was so nervous and an emotional wreck tonight so she didn’t hit a lot of notes, her voice skipped a few times since she almost cried. So sorry for her! :-(

I just listened to it. Yeah, there were vocal problems indeed. Sometimes I wonder if the people behind the song know from the outset that the chosen singer is going to have trouble with the song. Like with 'Freya' in Norway where the composers must have regarded the song as a very strong entry and then at some point found out that Maria Celin wasn't quite in control.

Both songs are demanding btw.

Quite often the way with pre-show favourites, shame.

"Blood and glitter, Sweden bitter ..." ;) No, I don't think Sweden has reason to be afraid of the German entry. Neither has Finland. But on the other hand, I'm sure Germany will get more than zero points this year. ;)

It's a 5 from me for now.

The song could be elevated a bit by adding some more backing vocals to the chorus in the last part, maybe even some gospel stuff. I'm not saying it's necessarily in accordance with the band's image in general, but I think it would appeal to more people (like with Finland's entry that gets "softer" and more melodic towards the end).

Press conference after their victory:

next plans:
- LOTL will go on vacation (German coast; Baltic Sea) as a band
- touring around the UK, South America

regarding Eurovision:
- they want to improve the staging
- Chris would like to include some "red (pyro) rain" for the performance in May

btw I'll hold off my real thoughts on this for now b/c all I want is to ask where the hell is Ringdalen right now? He must be so overjoyed at the rock-adjacency in this year's Eurovision, the one that exploded 2 years after Maneskin win. I hope he's doing well
