My heart hates current pop from Germany - those pretentious songs about Wunder, Parler francais and Royals & Kings make me want to swim to Alaska and never return.

But there is a song that I totally love and that makes my geese bump:


Such a good, lovely and unpretentious pop song with an emotional emphasis.

And I also love Die Fantastischen Vier - Zusammen, really nice.

Drangsal seems to be the first competitor for Germany 2019. Saw him as an opening act of my favorite band Kraftklub some time ago and quite enjoyed it :-)

(really really off-topic but it's funny you mentioned Kraftklub cause I've been OBSESSED with them this past week!!! I can't believe I hadn't listened to them earlier, I love their lyrics, so reckless, clever and witty xheart I love that there are ESC fans who love them as well xlove)

Great, that there is a Spanish fan of Kraftklub :-) If you ever get the chance to see them in concert, take it, they are even better live than on CD.

Probably not. They released their latest album early this year and I think it will take time for them to write new songs

The CDU / CSU parliamentary group wishes more songs in German language. At the Eurovision Song Contest, for example, the German contribution should be sung in German, the cultural-political spokeswoman for the group, Elisabeth Motschmann, demanded.

"We should use our beautiful language more confidently and emphasize its importance as the key to a good community life in our society," said Motschmann on Friday. "Many music interpreters in our country sing successfully German and are thus important language ambassadors."

Jokes aside, this is not the political forum. Of course it would be nice if we send songs in german sometimes, that our last songs in german were from 2007, '03 and '02 are not a good sign. And two of them were not even really good imo. More than the beautiful language I would prefer beautiful/good songs. Thinking of german pop songs I'm pretty sure our entry would sound like this Wincent Weiss/Lea/Mark Forster/Adel Tawil blandness. I don't need that!

This. I'm all in for a song only in German but NOT those generic wannabe-cool hipster pop songs like the ones mentioned above.

Wow, this is incredible. Didn't like his entry in the NF but this one is so much better! I would love to see such a pure simple ballad with a great voice, maybe sung even in German, in the ESC final.
