Re: GERMANY 2019
Sorry, but i don't think that will evey happen. She did an Interview on n-tv and said this:
Question: Sowohl Fahrenhaidt als auch dein Produzent Nicolas Rebscher haben sich schon mal beim Eurovision Song Contest engagiert. Deutschland hat mit Levina gerade erst eine junge Künstlerin nominiert, die in Kiew antreten wird. Wäre der ESC für dich grundsätzlich auch vorstellbar?
Answer: Nein.
Translation: At the ESC, its not about song and music. Its about show. Or its about sending something extremely quirky or absurd... like Russia sending six Granmas on the stage.I want to be successful because of the songs. I am a songwriter and I want to touch the people with the songs. ESC has an other policy.
Still such an old fashioned viewpoint...
I'm afraid she is right about that. Netta is proof that it is still like that.
You know that a clucking chick won this year, right?
I agree with you partly. But I think there are still entries here and there that don't care much for such a thing. And some musicians still can write songs for themselves. Netta was a sad situation. And getting to know the real circumstances after the ESC made it only worser. :?
Of course, there are some good entries these days that bring quality to Eurovision. The sad thing is that these quality songs might flop while a clucking chicken wins the televote for making the audience laugh. Even many jury members rather attach themselves to a political message instead of voting for the quality of the songs. If even many jury members fail to take Eurovision seriously as a song contest, I can understand that many musicians are reluctant to enter the contest. As long as musicians have to assume that a quality entry they might choose will be disregarded in favor of a freak show that happens to entertain the audience at home, I can't blame them for staying away from Eurovision. This freak show image is the reason why the UK, for example, keeps sending such weak entries. None of their successful acts would want to appear on a show that is not taken seriously as a song contest but that is rather just focused on entertaining the audience with crazy stuff. Having a winner like Netta just confirmed this negative stereotype and did great damage to the contest. It's just not possible to build a good reputation if the trash is allowed to win. Quite sad, really, because Eurovision could be a much better contest.
I completely understand about what you say since I feel the same way. Let's face it: even the Jury members don't vote for quality songs anymore. This year was proof for it, but also years before. I was also disappointed and somewhat shocked that Netta really made it this year. But then again when you look at last year's winner, it was a quality song, not a song that reminded us of a freak show. So my hope is that maybe next year things will be better again. Nevertheless I am of the opinion that the Jury has too much popwer. But that was discussed already in the Jury-Hate-thread. And not everyone is of that opinion. Some people think that it is good that the Jury exists. But when I look at the German Jury with two so young unmature persons ... Additionally, they all loved the same entry. Well, talking about not influencing each other ... But coming back to the topic, yes, I can understand that some musicians are sceptical and don't take part in ESC. Sadly.
if that's her point of view then she can stay the fuck out whoever she is. we don't need her and nobody with this point of view has ever been that good of an artist anyway.Sorry, but i don't think that will evey happen. She did an Interview on n-tv and said this:

The best thing that can happen now is that among all those joke entry copycats that we will probably see next year a serious song will be able to stand out and be the winner. I think many countries will send something "fun and crazy" next year. I'd say we need the juries because the televote alone would make things even worse but the juries should be required to follow strict criteria. Currently they just vote for whatever they like for whatever reason, often even without any proper expertise to judge the songs.

Im wondering if they will take part again?
