Why was Unheilig's second song the one chosen? I didn't quite get how it worked. Did they choose themselves or was it the song with the most votes from it's particular round?

I say this because i'm kind of surprised really that their second one went through to the super final. "Als Wär's Das Erste Mal" had all the markings of a winners song. The second one was solid but lacked something in comparison.

They better reveal the detailed votes for every round.

Wait, did my long lost twin hack your account or something?

Sure, you make it all sound so much effortlessly less dramatic than I do... but nevertheless I'm surprised by your undertone being similar to what I'm saying aswell

Was not expecting Elaiza to win. The song is a big meh, but it was growing on me lately.

5 points for now.

I am in favor of 100% transparency and I'm dying to find out if Unheilig was the favorite until it became a popularity contest by having a Super Final.

Not just the transparency comment, but you seem rather pissed at the results in general ... I like that spirit ! xyes

the songs should be what's important and whether they are representative of the countries they represent or not xshrug

That's for the "Song" and the "Eurovision", in "Eurovision Song Contest". I understand your point of view on this and for me, you're perfectly in line with Marcel Bezençon.

But I also admit the "Contest" part biases a lot of thing. It has become the most important part of the ESC. A lot of broadcasters and artists admit it : they want to win or at least, have a good placing. Even I tend to reconsider my appreciation of certain songs, according to their result.

But but but... at the end, it's also the "Contest" part who makes the ESC so unique and thrilling... To understand it, I recommand you to listen to the first Contest, its 1956 edition. There was no vote, no suspense. Rolf Liebermann came on stage and simply announced the winner. It's so anti-climatic... it's not the ESC !

Dear fans, thank you for your great support today and in the past few days. It was great in the Eurovision Song Contest preliminary decision to participate. Many great moments, which we will keep forever. I wish you much success in Copenhagen winner Elaiza and firmly press the thumb. I embrace you, your count

Oh believe me, I've been watching this contest since I was a little kid...

Yes it's a contest, but imo it's a contest between entries representing their countries... not a contest of just music in general... which is what makes Eurovision unique amongst music competition shows out there.

The public chose it

Well they chose wrong xqueenbitch

Actually the public probably didn't chose it. It was done in rounds wasn't it? And each round you are voting for the artist to advance. So if you like the artist, you are going to vote for them regardless of the other song they have if you like one. Unheilig fans probably voted stronger in the second round to push them to the super final and then that song was chosen as a result and fell flat next to "Is It Right". By comparison Elaiza's second song wasn't very good so the votes obviously didn't come in so thick for them there and their best song went forward.

I am pissed off. I could have lived with the fact Germany picking a Bottom 5 song if that's what people wanted but it became a "Oh, let's vote for anything but Unheilig" debacle. The fact it was booed is not cool and immature. I feel like "my people" did not represent us well tonight.

Except Barbara, she was awesome!

I bet this will be in top 5. The singer has that something in her, people will remember her. And the song is catchy too.
