Well, I'll be all for a people's revolution in ESC bringing the end of juries' dictatorship, lack of transparency and stupid voting system to an end!!!

Don't you get bored of this?

Everyone has their own reasons for supporting a song. You often support based on language or whether you consider it "fresh". Personally, It's a good song but not great. It'll easily get in my top 10...with a few listen maybe top 5.

Trust me, I only support songs I like... if they happen to be "fresh" and in native language then sure it's a plus... but I would never support a song based on those aspects alone, it has to be a good song aswell.

I feel like the booing in the German selection and the obsession with "fresh young faces" are quite telling about the X-Factor-influenced ageist fast-phased culture we're living in where we get tired of something so quickly... it's a syndrome of our times rather than a good thing I'd say.

I think Oceana should have sung: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is, a NF of the seasoooon", it fits perfectly, you can try! :D

I agree with you this time 100%, but I'm afraid if for example big famous favs weren't singing in German and lost you wouldn't react like this.. :?

6 points. The lyrics are ok, but the instrumentals really bring it down for me. Overall, a very middle-of-the-road song is what we have here.

So it's a personality contest then? xshrug

Definitely not what I meant (though it may have been the thought process of the German voters). I do think that it's good to show that new talent can have a chance against established acts, and I'm in no way blaming Elaiza for their win, but I would certainly have preferred something else. Specifically, 14 other something elses.

Söhne Mannheims were by far the bigger name in the final last year.

come on. Men wimpering like girls for the sell out of manhood?

They are even more pathetic than unheilig. German can be nice and interesting, but both groups are not able to present a good written text. This is all on a very low level.
Herbert Grönemeyer has good songs (ok, he is too old now), but his songs are too German. We would end up on the last place.

No I mean do you like the song or do you think they deserved to win because they are young and new?

If you like the song then good for you you, fair enough... but only supporting something based on whether it's someone new or not?

Yes, I like the song. But you'll have to forgive me (you know, I'm human after all... ;)) : I tend to support the "new" acts and artists.

And if you think in "historical" terms, it's one of the biggest "trick" of the Eurovision : a young unknow act who came on stage and become a global star in 3 minutes. A lot of winners followed that road, from Gigliola Cinquetti to Loreen.

No.

I reckon you won't join the revolution then... well establishment support to the left...

I'm just tired of every one of your posts being about this concept of people lavishly masturbating over Disney ballads and Americanised pop when in reality, people like what they like and hardly anyone cares about the language.

Love this, one of my favorites so far. And the girls are just adorable. That was a satisfying surprise win. :D

I wanted to like Unheilig, because it's too bad about the lack of national languages, but I just did not find their song or act all that interesting :(

I don't care if they are established or not, but I hate this envy-under-dog-looser-mob-mentality and also the constant dissing of everything German in Germany...

For me "Cutton Candy Hurricane" was the best song. MarieMarie was really great.
Congrats to Elaiza - I never thought, that they could win against all the wellknown acts. But I´m not sure about a good result in Copenhagen.

Yes, I'm still under this hurricane of NF, so I don't know what I'm speaking, 2nd entry!

RainyWoods

I agree 100000%! :(

Yo will get ValenTROLLa tomorrow!

Yeah, at least I have Valentina and no one can take her away from me. I'll have Elaiza as well once I get over the disappointment as "Is It Right" is wonderful. I'll say this right now, I think they could win Eurovision this year for Germany.

Everything has gone wrong for me this year. Good start with Albania picking my favourite song but it's still nothing to get too excited for, just a nice song to listen to. So many countries have let me down. For a while "Cake To Bake" was my favourite song which really says it all. "Undo" is probably my favourite at the moment but it really shouldn't be. Moldova who I was relying on have been disgraceful tonight and everything now rests in Donita's hands but the odds are against her.

Loreen wasn't unknown. She was on one of those Pop Idol shows and already had a somewhat big following from her 2011 effort.

booing :?

I didn't find the booing funny? I found it funny that Matt pointed out that the majority of the 12's on here are from Germans, which is the same for the UK thread with the majority of 12's being from the British people?

edit: I cant even see where you got that I was laughing at the booing?

Compare the jury results with the public results... the public certainly aren't masturbating over relic Disney ballads in English... that's why I'd say power to the people!
