According to "Le Parisien", Eurovision France will take place in january with 12 songs (still planned in a french city and hosted by Stéphane Bern).

12 is a good number, enough to have a wide selection while preventing an overload of fillers. Now I just hope they will offer us a nice diversity of genres and artists.

Exactly. At the beginning I thought it was a bit too much (I'd have preferred 10, 8 or even less songs) but the show must last around 2h and a half. So I prefer 12 new songs rather than just 8 or 10 songs with each artist making a cover of another song. Without covers, it will probably look like a real national final.

It wasn't addressed to me but as a French I'll answer : yes, I know and hope to see almost all of them but I have no hope. Maëlle might be the biggest chance, as she was a The Voice winner and French NF tend to showcase artists from talent shows but I'm not sure. The others can be crossed over : either they're not the type to be interested in such a contest (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), or their career is doing well enough to not being interested (in the case of Louane).

Personally I would love to see VIDEOCLUB, their indie electro-pop style is just so French it would be amazing to have it on the ESC scene. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

Alizée hasn't had a new song out for about 6 or so years, so, that would've been a real surprise? I feel a little disappointed with Louane, I absolutely adore her voice but I can't really connect to her own music that isn't a cover. and 2. start debating whether you'd rather host in Nantes or Toulouse.

Maelle : She is the singer all french eurofans agree on, she has everything : dancing skills, voice, emotion, beauty, charisma. But I don't think she could make it now, but we never know. She is currently writing her next album and she said she wants to make it all alone, so we never know;
Pomme : She is not very popular but her audience is very loyal, I think. Don't know at all if she could make it.
Yseult : When I think of her personality, she would probably think "Eurovision ? I'm better than that shitty contest, I'm better than that" and not even joking, maybe she has changed but 2 or 3 years ago, she was in rebel mode like "musical industry is cruel, I'll make it on my own", etc.
Videoclub : I don't know them much (just their name) and I don't know them enough to give an opinion of if they could make it or not.
Alizee : She hasn't made music for a few years, now, so no chance I'd say.
Clio : Don't even know them by name, sorry.
Louane : She already said she would love to make it but she now has a baby and she just released her album, I don't think.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind 12 debuting singers from The Voice like Emmy Liyana, etc. I just want singers with amazing songs. A friend of mine told me a few days ago that he saw a story on Instagram from Léa Castel where she said something like "working for Euro..." but she cancelled her story less than 5 minutes after, was it related to Eurovision France ? Don't know but she could absolutely make it, she was very popular a decade ago but she isn't anymore today, excepted her song "Abimée". Slimane recorded a version with his voice and it was a huge success on radios. This song gives me chills everytime, it has an amazing piano-pop melody, very melancholic and nostalgic, and it would be an amazing ESC song, I think :
