A lot of you are really ridiculous in their thoughts. Really, we dont know the song and some people say it will already be a flop. just WAIT and WAIT. We dont have ANY news ok ? He is not well known and ? He does folk songs and ? It doesnt matter, song will not be from him. Just wait.

Amir wasn't known too before his participation to the contest, neither Alma, Duncan, etc. It's basically the most spread criticism about french contestant every year from french people and the one who makes literally no sense, you're disappointing me, lol.LOL, not even official and he's not even well-known in. I do hope that he isn't the one that FTV selected, otherwise France is cancelled.
He isn't even confirmed as the entrant as well

This is beyond the ridiculous. You are fed up and disgusted by a non official choice and without even know the song. And this is the last part which is the worst thing in my opinion. You already say it's bad or disappointing without even know any detail. You have absolutely 0 idea of what the song will be and you already react like its bad:
If you are fed up with France choice, me i am fed up with these kinds of reactions because i dont think it is fair to draw conclusions like this with such a lack of additional details and informations.

I don't mean to be petty, but if Tom Leeb is confirmed, it's more likely than not that I won't like our entry (again). His musical genre doesn't interest me at all and he himself is nothing special imo. These rumours are going in a direction I'm not here for.
Of course the selected entry can always be surprising - and I'd be delighted to eat my words - but at this point the name neither gets me hyped, nor fills me with confidence.
It's been 84 years since I rooted for my country, I wish I could get behind what we send once in a while.

I'm not being funny our anything, but people are entitled to form their own opinion based on what is on offer and what may likely happen. I think you should chill a bit, because the great thing about forums is that they're a place for everyone to post their opinions based on the current topic and then discuss with other people. Not only that, but people CAN actually change their opinion. What would be wrong would be to hate on the entry (if it is him) regardless of whether they like the song and just use it as a basis to hate, and considering John is French I hardly doubt he does because he hates France. So what is on offer and in discussion at the moment? A male guitar indie artist (based on what i've watched) so we can assume hes not likely to enter with a pop banger or some trash metal song. Quite possibly he will may enter with some slow indie guitar ballad in English as he seems to have a lot of songs like it (for me as a Brit the thought sends shivers down my spine because that sort of music is rammed down our throats here, not to mention that it's not to my taste). Anyway, people who are really not thrilled at the idea of that sort of artist going to ESC are hardly going to be cheering right now at this rumour. Perhaps they are a little premature in their comments to assume it is him and speak as if hes been confirmed but their posts are hardly so out there and offensive that they become so grossly unfair to France and this guy that is rumoured. It's eye roll worthy to say wait for the song or more details because literally every single person knows that, but if we all kept quiet on our thoughts then this forum would be dead.

@AshleyWright You know, I suspect that the good sis @John1 isn't really French: he's probably Elina Nechayeva in the daytime and Gabriela Gunčíková at night. That's how I see him: mysterious with dual nationality.

If some people are excited about this, they do them, that's great. But others (me included) should be allowed to think otherwise based on the elements we have. We all have different standards and expectations, especially when it comes to our own country, so both ends of the spectrum will always be represented. It's inevitable.
Reacting, even negatively, means caring, otherwise we wouldn't bother posting here. So why put John1 to the torch?
