The staging looks beyond desperate. I like his new wig though. There’s that at least. Bilal looks fabulous.

He definitely improved vocally, I'm pleasantly surprised. Plus, he looks better with this wig and suit.
However I'm not convinced by the staging, I expected something more... explosive. Right now it's quite dull (the color theme doesn't help).

I want something original to win and many top favourites fail in terms of originality.

I not only want originality, I want affirmation, empowerment, elevation, inspiration.

Bilal can do it! Take the crown, I already see myself being totally flabbergasted and giving away all my televotes to France, although it wasn't in my Top 3 recently.

Quand je rêve, je m'incline au Roi Bilal xrose

France taking note from us, I see (wording and subtitles) :p
I don't know what to say just yet. I think it's okay overall, maybe too much trying to bring a diversity message

Staging is an absolute joke. Press centre favourite that won't translate beyond that. And he still has awful vocals.

:fr: would've done way better with Seemone, that's a fact. xshrug The staging looks quite stunning though.

His vocals improved much more than I even dared to think about Bilal before. Anyway, the staging is still better than MM's.

I think Conchita looked better as a woman. :)
I understand that the song is about being who you want to be but I'm not a fan of the look he chose. Mixing two languages can be strange too. He wants to sing in French because he represents France but also in English to make his message better understood. Maybe in this context mixing two languages can be seen as representing two sides, just like a man dressing up as a woman but I'm rather critical of mixing languages just because it's Eurovision.
The song itself I like. I give it 8 points.

I don't think that Bilal is representing a woman. So I don't need to compare him to Conchita.

It is an anti-bullying manifesto that he sings with 100% credibility as a young muslim man who likes make-up and wigs.

There is no law that requires a gender for entitlements to make-up and platinum wigs.

Actually, I believe the reason why he's singing in both French and English is because that's the way he usually speaks. In his Youtube videos, he apparently has always thrown random sentences in English while talking; even his album is built that way from start to finish. It has nothing to do with being understood better (unlike with Amir and Alma...)

Oddly enough, that's probably the most "sincere feature" of the whole package to me, because he seems to switch languages naturally in real life.

That's interesting information. Has changing languages in Eurovision ever been natural instead of a calculated move?

I feel like it always tends to be a calculated move, if you ask me. But then again, I don't know people's personal lives to judge.

The backdrop looks good (but there are better this year). Bilal seems to have improved his vocals (but the starting point was quite bad, still he is among the bottom half of the vocalists in this field). And that's just about the only positive things I have to say about this entry...
His message is so in-your-face obvious that it all becomes just a big cliche. I find this more laughable than touching.

Am I a cold and heartless soul for thinking so? I dont think so... Tamara is giving us a song about another related topic as far as I'm concerned. Tamara is alone on stage singing her heart out for all her fellow girls and females telling them to be proud- and I get deeply touched. What works for me is combination of the melody, the lyrics and foremost Tamara powerful voice and stage presence. For me what Tamara presents on stage is miles above what Bilal is serving us...

His whole album is in french and english. It's not a calculated move, just the way he is, the way he talks.

I think it was a very smart idea to make the message of the song more universal but just only about him and his story :D

7th now, and about to pass Italy and Malta. This might be one the first time we don't disappoint with our staging!
