Yeah :-)
"Allez Ola Ole" was awesome... should have ended at least in Top 10.

I must admit that shaking 'dat ass was hypnotizing

Anyway. 2012. I hope that it will be the NF, like they planned. Wondering about French televoters' current preferences.

Re: FRANCE 2012

France have done very well the last three years anyway. Patricia Kaas and Amaury Vassili were both amazing entries. Jessy Matador with "Allez Ola Ole" was a fun entry. All three of them won France respectable points. Internal Selection has done them well the last few years but it will be interesting to see what the French public would put in. Who knows? They could win again (finally) soon. Like I said, they are doing well at the moment and I hope that their entry for 2012 will be no exception.

I definately hope they stick to singing in French (or if they do choose to have a bit of English, make bilingual) because French is a beautiful language and they are very loyal to their native tongue.

They do this that thing twice: in 2001 / 2002 and they got the highers positions of the Decade of 00s.

A song from France in English wouldn't appeal to the audience anyway, look at 2007 or 2008. "Divine" was a very very catchy song, but it would have scored better with another country than France IMO.

Why should it make any difference?

I think that France was criminally underrated with non-english songs several times.

It has indeed.
France is IMO one of those countries that should really stick to its national language (or regional ones). In the English-fest that the Contest has become, France would be absolutely unremarkable if it sent something in English. And it has a free ticket to the final, so why not? Semi-finals tend to eliminate all songs not in English (look at "Na Inat", "Jestem" in 2011, or "Lako je sve" and "Työlki Ella" in 2010).

I totally agree with you and I am very satisfied with French broadcaster's attitude concerning this issue. But at the same time I also want Iceland and Belarus to sing in their languages. Strange that whenever a non-English entry fails reason is the language. Last places in this year's semi-finals and final all were English ones. How comes no one makes the language responsible here?

Re: FRANCE 2012

My favourite Eurovision song of all time was sung in French and I'm pleased that France say they will never send in another entry in English.

I do think that singing in a different language does help the song stand out rather than diminish its chances when you consider all the other songs are usually sung at least partly in English these days, so France should definately play that to their advantage and continue in sending in songs that sound beautiful (or just fun and simple) so you don't really need to understand the words. I will admit though that France are probably at more of an advantage than other countries that sing in their own language. Even though French isn't as widely spoken as English, it is still widely spoken. English is my first language and it is the only language I speak fluently but I can understand French well enough to get the feel of a song. I'd definately appreciate a song sung in French more than, say, a song sung in Polish because I simply don't understand a word of Polish. Then again I don't understand a word of Corsican yet I adored France's entry this year. So while I think understanding a language can be important, the beauty of a song can see it through.

I really do think that if France continue the way they are now by sending in great artists and songs, they could very well win it again soon. They are in a better position than any of the other Big Five. I don't expect Germany will win it again any time soon as they can be far too touch and go (and they can't keep ending Lena it every year ;)), Italy are close but don't really want it enough, Spain... well, are Spain, and the UK are a bit too touch and go - like Germany - and it might be a couple of years before we have enough good entries behind us to be credible again.

France has had a few low scorers over the past ten years but they generally get it right most of the time, which is more than can be said for Germany, Spain and the UK who have sent in some proper stinkers. Then again maybe I just think that France are way too underrated and deserve a win sooner rather than later!

Re: FRANCE 2012

It really is amazing that France hasn't won since 1977, yet remains one of the most succesful ESC countries ever! They deserve winning again (even though they'll brag about it for five years xD).
