Re: FRANCE 2012 - Anggun

Natasha Saint-Pier performed part of her song in English and this certainly helped her to touch people with words they can understand. I consider she was right.

Ehm ok, a bit delusion maybe? Saint-Pier performed just a small part in English (which destroyed the whole impression of it) and I highly doubt she (Saint-Pier) got all those votes based on that small part, rather I'm pretty sure she attracted alot of votes for it being a typically FRENCH Eurovision (Celine-esque) ballad in FRENCH.

But YAY even more English in Eurovision *irony*

Anyways... I hope the song will be good though, I have no opinion really on her previous works. Haven't heard that much, what I heard sounds quite good though but I am not sure how well it will translate onto Eurovision though.

I like this song by her:

Her latest album is pretty good, will they pick the entry from this one? Sort of how they picked Patricia Kaas' entry... If so then one of these songs (partly in English) will become the French entry 2012:

Couldn't agree more. It was a great song and I felt like the language switch destroyed the atmosphere of the performance.

Anyways, I like Anggun's voice, hopefully she finds a good song.

France keeps surprising me each and every year. And every year they are different than the year before. :D That is what I really value.

I can't say more before I hear the entry, but I am really satisfied with this choice!

That much is true. France likes to send very different entries each year, and I commend them for that.

I don't give a F if it's peace and love song and I would never rated language higher than the lyrics. Language doesn't matter for me. At all.

Maybe it'll be the second coming of Insieme :p

I hate songs with a peace message, but the message won't be the deciding factor.

I don't care much about language either. It's just I'd rather it be in a language I don't understand than have bad lyrics in English.

As usual France will send a strong entry.

As usual? Anyways, I do have big hopes on this one though. Her last album (French version) was really great and reading about the song it seems very promising.

Je hope so.^^ And I insist upon sending NO cheese. But I still trust in France.

What's the "cheese" you refer to?

I found their popera in 2011 really cheesy, I don't understand why people loved it so much.

I'm wondering if her song will have some success in France, cause she's not popular anymore here.

Unifying message, work title 'Europa', bilingual version and so on.

I do not see what was cheesy about Sognu though. From a negative point of view one could argue it was arty-farty, snoozy, pretentious, dated or whatever, maybe kitschy but not that there were cheesy elements. Austria was cheesy (so much it was almost good – but only if you look at it as a parody ).
