1/8 finals of Serbian Cup

Radnički Niš 0:3 Partizan

Much easier victory and qualification to the 1/4 finals of the Serbian cup than generally expected against a tough and good team on their stadium, where we already lost points in the league before (it was 0:0 against them in the league match in the 2nd round, to remind), but I can, for the first time maybe say that I am satisfied with both the play and the result. The approach of the players was on a very high leveland the play, although still far from what it should be for a club like Partizan was actually good yesterday. We had some problems in the defense, especially during the breaks, but Radnički Niš i sa team that is very good in this segment as they have two high defenders that are tough to guard and that have a great jump and play with their heads and since we sold Ivanov earlier this season, we are much weaker in defending the breaks. However, we entered the match with enough aggression and scored in the first 10 minutes which made the home team open themselves more and it was, psychologically much easier for us to cope with the situation like this. Ninkovic also played a great match yesterday and with the cheered creator like him, it is much easier to create and get into the scoring chances.

A victory like this serves great to one team and it is good that we won like this before the most important match in the season for us. Now, we must prepare in peace for the biggest match of Serbian football, the match of all matches - 145th eternal derby against Crvena Zvezda in 2 days!

I will later analyze the upcoming derby more further just like the team of our biggest rival......

Full results of 1/8 finals of the Serbian cup (bolded ones are the teams that advanced to the next round):

Before I analyze what I expect from tomorrow's 145th eternal derby (both tactically and otherwise), some statistics of the previous duels of two biggest Serbian clubs, Partizan and Crvena Zvezda:

144 matches of these two clubs have been played so far in the league

59 victories of Crvena Zvezda
43 matches that ended as ties.
42 victories of Partizan
211 -177 goal-difference for Crvena Zvezda

Also, the referee of tomorrow's derby will once again be Milorad Mazic, the best Serbian referee :D

In less than 3 hours the biggest match of Serbian football and one of the biggest derbies in the world will begin! The tension is felt in the whole country and even though both of the eternal rivals are, objectively, never worse and weaker, derby is always a derby and it can never be boring and non-exciting.

Just like always, objectively, derby is a specific match and there are no favorites. The position on the table and the current form don't play any role here. Maybe Zvezda has bigger chances on the paper since the match is played on their stadium, in front of their audience, but we are Partizan, 6-time champion in a row, and we are certainly coming to their stadium to defeat them in front of their audience! We are "persona non grata" on their field, but all that will make things much more exciting in case of our victory, and as their players are afraid of defeat and there is a huge pressure on them before this match, we will try to use this to our advantage. All of Partizan fans and everyone who likes Partizan should unite in this special day when we face our biggest rival and push the team to victory.

From the tactical side - both us and Zvezda have bad defense. Zvezda's one is even worse than our defense, and by pressing them, there will be a whole bunch of mistakes that we can use and turn to our goals. The middle of the field is equal. Zvezda has two experienced players Ninkovic and Milijas, while we are relying on our legend Sasa Ilic (36 years old atm) as well as Milos Jojic, Andrija Zivkovic and Predrag Luka. Jojic, Zivkovic and Luka can all become match-winners for us today because they are fast, piercing and can be greatly used in the counter attacks. The attack is where Zvezda has advantage. Abiola Dauda, their first attacker is in a great form atm, and is the biggest danger for our goal. Also, Nejc Pecnik could be very dangerous as well, and he is especially dangerous when he joins the attack from the second plan. Mrdja is not what he used to be, but he is always tricky. And also a huge danger is Filip Kasalica. Kasalica plays great against Partizan and the derby carries him all the time, so special attention should be devoted to him. He musn't be allowed to get a pass to the empty space where he could use his speed and create an ideal scoring chance. Also, Milijas is dangerous in the breaks so there should be as little fouls near the 16 m as possible. We shouldn't allow many air balls either as Zvezda is better in air duels and they could score from those positions.

As for our tactics - we musn't attack from the start. Zvezda is the one who must win, as they are falling behind 4 points, and even a tie is a good result for us. They will certainly attack us from the start, because the fanks will make them do it, if the coach doesn't. We should close their left and right flanks since that is where they are most dangerous and all of their attacks go this way (they don't know to push through the middle), and we should simply let them carry the ball and attack, but we should stay on our half, close the other entrances to our goal and wait for the counter attacks. Since we have fast players on both sides, this is ideal for us. If we manage to score great, if not, life goes on. In the second half we should move all of the lines of team (except the defense which should stand on 20 meters from the goal all the time) slowly and slowly closer to their half and in the last stage of the match we should strike with high pressing. This is something that will certainly work. And in the attack I would add Kojic as a sole attacker because he knows how to score against Zvezda, he did it many times as a player of Rad. He could easily use mistakes of the two catastrophic defenders of Zvezda and, since he also easily gets into chances, could make himself famous tonight.

That's it for now, may the better one wins..........may Partizan win!

As you can see, it's really anybody's game. It's a weird year. Lot of tied games! I like the current top2. Turnovo can hopefully jump to third and Renova stay 4th maybe. Metalurg isn't a team that does well in Europe (they have yet to win a game), so I don't really want them around the top3.

Crvena Zvezda 1-0 Partizan

I have to say that Zvezda won deserved, so congratulations to them. Even though we lost the derby by an own-goal from a situation that was not dangerous at all (and it was scored by one of the 3 best players and the most experienced one, which is a shock.........but it happens. He was one of the rare positive things from us on the field so far and deserves support, because he is the one who feels the worst in the end), the players of our biggest rival wanted victory more than us from the start, they were much more aggresive and concrete during the whole 90+ minutes and they were rewarded for that this way. This loss and especially this way just shows how completely catastrophic we are from the first match against :am: Shirak until this defeat in the eternal derby.

Overall, this is the weakest and worst derby ever so far! It is a shame that two biggest :rs: clubs are on this low level and what was seen on Saturday was a real decadence and demonstration of anti-football. Both teams literally showed nothing. It was like "retard #1 vs. retard #2". The scouts from other teams literally had face reactions like "WTF am I doing here?" If it wasn't for this own-goal none of the teams would have scored until judgment day. Zvezda had two scoring chances and we had only one half-chance. The incidents that supporters of both teams created have threw everything else to the shadow, and that speaks enough about the quality of football on this last derby.

As for us, to conclude - We didn't shoot on the goal against the weakest defenders in Zvezda's history and defenders that half of the league is mocking with (at least), and they didn't conceive a goal only from teams that didn't want to score or that didn't come out to the field. Now, we are actually the only team along with Spartak that didn't score against them, and it speaks enough how miserable we are. This is a clear picture of us.

As for the coach, our "general".........this line-up that he played in the derby with is something that no sane person would play with. He said he is preparing a tactical surprise for Zvezda, and in the end he surprised himself as well. I was in a complete shock when I saw the line-up just like everyone. By leaving two of our most experienced players on the bench (Ilic and Djemba Djemba) he showed once again that the level of retardism in him is on a very high level. Ilic is the only player that can connect the lines of our team, and it was seen all the time, that we have no one to stand on the ball, and that we can't connect 3 correct passes......the ball was in the air constantly and there were a lot of improvised attempts to create something with long balls.........no concept at all.

I don't even hope for this idiot to fly off the bench anymore as he will obviously be here until he destroys us completely together with the management. They are on a good way to do it..........

The Norwegian season is now over, and nothing was decided before the last matchday (except that Haugesund had won the bronze). Strømsgodset had a 1 point lead on Rosenborg, and at half time, Rosenborg was leading their match 2-0 away against Lillestrøm, while Strømsgodset was still at 0-0 at home against bronze medal winner Haugesund. In the end Strømsgodset won 4-0, Rosenborg's 3-0 victory meant nothing, and Strømsgodset won the league for the first time in 43 years. :D

My team, Vålerenga, celebrated 100 years this season, and I went to see the anniversary match against Sarpsborg 08 on their 100th birthday in July. I drove 900 km for that match... The season didn't go as hoped tho, we were knocked out of the cup by Rosenborg in the quarter final (also a match I attended, as Rosenborg had the home advantage, and I live in Rosenborg's city). Rosenborg will be playing against Molde in the cupfinal. Vålerenga also struggled in the league, and we realized early in the season that things weren't going to go our way, and before the last match, we were actually in danger of ending on the playoff spot, where we would have to play against a team from the division below to keep our place in the top division. 6 teams were fighting for survival, Vålerenga, Sogndal and Sandnes Ulf all had 33 points, Sarpsborg 08 had 31, and Tromsø and Hønefoss were last with 29 points. 5 of the 6 teams lost their last match (Vålerenga won against Sandnes Ulf), so Tromsø, who's currently playing in the Europa League group stage against Tottenham, Anzhi and Sheriff, is relegated after 10 years in the top division. Hønefoss also got relegated, after 2 or 3 years in the top. Sarpsborg 08 will have to play against Ranheim to avoid relegation. However, Ranheim is from Trondheim (just as Rosenborg), and it's become my local team, so I hope Ranheim will win the matches, and be promoted. We'll know in about a week... Bodø/Glimt and Stabæk have already been promoted.

The draw for 1/4 finals of the Serbian cup:

Jagodina - Donji Srem

Spartak - Partizan

Crvena zvezda - Vojvodina

Sloboda - OFK Beograd

So, we are going to play against Spartak Zlatibor Voda in Subotica in the 1/4 finals of the Serbian cup. Moreover, we will play two matches against the same rival in the same week and on the same stadium. First in the league and then 3 days later in a cup

Spartak has always been one of the trickiest rivals for us, especially at home. They didn't change their team a lot, and they are very compact in all lines of it. They don't conceive a lot of goals, especially at home and their attackers Nosković and Despotović can break any defense in the super league. They are also great in breaks and that is their strongest weapon.

Since this is the weakest Partizan in history, they have objective chances to knock us out on their stadium.

Crvena Zvezda-Vojvodina is also going to be a great duel, and it wouldn't be surprising for Zvezda to be eliminated in 1/4 finals just like last year.

So, in the end, it would not be a surprise to see both Zvezda and Partizan knocked out after this round, just like it happened last year.

Look what happened here. xfacepalm You can understand reading comments below the video.

In our Serie A it seems Roma is having some problems and its advantage is disappearing (and Juventus gets closer to the 1st place).

I do not follow Canadian Soccer League. I am an avid follower of Italian League. I Fell in love with Parma FC in their debute in Serie A in 1989 . I have cried, I have laughed, I have jumped for glory , I have been disappointed. That's the glory of that's the story of love. I will always be a Parmesan forever. I will try and post here Parma's results and news every week.
