(Still though, it's pleasant enough in and of itself, and Aksel seems lovely. I wish the broader fandom would stop sending him hate messages. Just aaaaargh, Finland, get your act together for next year please, you have so much potential)

What I like to see in next year's UMK is, there is more different kind of music genres (of course song matters). Now there were just ballads and some pop and disco. YLE should give opportunities also for heavy and rock music genre songs, because that is our special know how.

I was thinking: if you have international juries, why don't you have international televote as well?

If the argument for having internations juries is that they give a hint, how the juries at Eurovision will vote. Why don't you use international televote as well???? Cicciolina would have won the televote by a landslide then!

There was a house track as well (Lover View), but I agree. It would be cool if Finland had more variety and perhaps sent a rock song again.

Wouldn't that be a nightmare to organise? Besides, very little of the general European audience besides fans would bother to tune in to another country's NF, so it would be pointless in providing clues on how the vote in May will go.

Can we cancel Eurovision 2020 and send "Cicciolina" in 2021 ?

I don't think so, we have done it in :cz:, so... At least the Eurovision app provider would finally be forced to learn how working with cache should work. Easily feasible.

I guess an app vote would be pretty much the only way to make international televote work. It still would run into the problem of mostly dedicated fans voting, though.

I had a listen to this again. It reminds me a tiny bit of Snow Patrol or Mercury Rev or some other band like that. It's fine, I can listen to it without issue, but I am sceptical of his ability to make it sparkle live, and I feel like Finland might be going home early again this year. They did miss a trick not sending Cicciolina, but hopefully Erika Vikmann has more than one good song to spare and can try again.

Well, to keep in line with our NF even further... I think having the international televote count as one member of the juries is quite clever for precisely this reason :)

However, anyone could've voted in the online vote in Latvia this year, so I don't think the app is the only way.
Plus, I don't know about precise numbers in :fi:, but in many countries, the televote is around 10k ish votes (not everybody's name is :se: :) ), so another 500-1000 fans is maybe not that insignificant after all :)

I've had the chorus of Looking Back stuck in my head today.

It should be Finnish jury and Finnish televote only as the selection is for Finland. Bjorkman and Sweden's results in the last decade are the main reason to blame the international juries influx in recent times.

They might be getting a boost from that, but international juries have been around for a while. Estonia used international juries to select all entries up to 2003 (and also in 2006), and I'm sure we weren't the only ones.

Let me remind you, Cicciolina been doing extremely well on Spotify, which rarely happens for UMK song. It legit is the biggest hit of UMK ever had. Also, this UMK was the most viewed UMK ever with 885k viewers on average - this is when last year UMK had it's lowest viewing numbers ever.

Also, there are lots of people who hate Erika. Believe me, the hate been absolutely insane and even after UMK those people have celebrated that she didn't make it to the Eurovision. This is due to her relationship and the provocative lyrics. I'm not denying the fact that there were people who just simply liked Aksel, but there very well could've been some antivotes as well.

Then there's the performance which might've turned few people off. While there was nothing to change about Aksel's performance, it was perfect as it is.

Anyway, the numbers seems rather low compared to viewing numbers - Producer of the show were speculating that the Finns are rather lazy at voting their favorites, which also might be true.

Erika might've not won UMK and make it to eurovision, but she will certainly have a great career here.

I didn't know what was going on with such bad result in the poll... now I get it. I hope people forget about this Cicciolina drama and focus on the song you are sending, which is not bad at all. Actually it's in my top 15 in one of the strongest years I can remember.

nah it would be a :0: from me even without cicciolegend it sounds like a song that should have gone to Eesti Laul this year but got the wrong way and ended up in Finland instead
