I am so sorry, but i cannot give it more than 1 point, there's absolutely nothing that could catch my attention: no interesting melody, no stage presence, no charisma, no captivating vocals, no fascinating punch lines in the lyrics.
Meh.
Meh.
Meh.
MEH.

They won't make it to the finals.

Agree with you. Although I save the 0 and 1 point for things I can't stand, this one is just indifferent to me. 5 points. Seriously Krista had something memorable whether you liked it or not ;) This doesn't have even it I'm afraid.

6 points. I wouldn't download the song onto my iPod, but I can see the appeal of it. It has elements of screamo, yet it's your typical, middle-of-the-road pop-rock. Just an overall average song.

I'll give this a polite, rather kind 4 points for now. I think it's better than Mikko's song anyway as it actually has something to it. Bored to death of this sound but I suppose it's done well, performed well. Meh, don't really care for it though still and wouldn't choose to listen to it out of choice.

To me, the things i can't stand are more valuable than things i'm indifferent to, there could be nothing worse for any artist than leaving a listener/viewer indifferent.
Krista was adorable on stage, plus her song was well-written by people who really understand english. It was a funny entry! I don't like the song, but i can give it credits for being entertaining.
So, i cannot give these guys more than 1, seriously, i tried...but i couldn't find any trace of emotion in myself. I'll save my 2,3 and 4 points for an entry that is going to seriously piss me off

Re: FINLAND 2014

The most funny thing though is that I think the juries voted for this because they think it would appeal to Europe more than a genuine song in Finnish... xshrug

Nah, Softengine kind of music and bands are generally quite popular in Finland. I think we chose something we genuinely like.

Anyways, none of our songs really made me excited, but Softengine definitely was on my top 3. I'm eager to hear how the song will evolve from now on. I'm happy that we're at least sending something different thank in latest years. I don't think we have chosen this kind of soft rock band ever before.

I was referring to the juries...

And yes, I know that anything rocky would directly be more popular  ... but I do think you made a mistake here... sorry neighbors... but it's just too bland-middle-of-the-road-heard-it-all-before-rock-by-the-dozen-boy-band-in-English xshrug

Re: FINLAND 2014

Can I just boast for a bit and demonstrate my psychic powers? I wrote this the 3rd of January...

Softengine I could imagine winning for some reason...

I'm glad that MIAU reached 3rd place, I'm just looking forward to the day when entries like that actually win.

"Something Better" is a good song. I just think the band and genre are extremely generic, but at least it's tasteful, and Eurovision needs two things: tasteful and out of the box. I'll give them 7 points.

Btw, they should have sent Krista Siegfrids again this year with her new song. That was a very funny and moving performance and the song was nice.

Oh dear Finland. You really need to fire those tasteless juries.... :?

Again a very wrong choice. I didn't like a Finnish song since 2009 (that's quite a lot) and I think this is the worst one. Lame wannabe rock by a lame band with terrible live singing.

I'll give this a big fat zero. It's what this deserves. Gosh, it's even worse than Belarus' cheesecake xfacepalm

The taste of ESC fans in general doesn't always correlate with what Europe likes. It was between this and Mikko Pohjola for a song that actually sounds like 2014 and could work in Europe (Mikko Pohjola more as a showcase of a typical Finnish radio song), and this won.
Softengine might fail miserably. They may not. However, you don't select songs based on how well they would do in ESC. The top two in UMK is very much representative of what Finland likes to listen to, and that's what ESC is all about.

I'm happy. You may not be. However, I feel that this is the first time in a few years we've sent something the Finnish public actually listens to normally. We've had good songs during that period, some really good (2011), but this time, we had a top two consisting of songs that already were and will be played on the radio because that's what many Finns like. I would've liked Mikko Pohjola as well, but Softengine edged it.

I agree with you so much on everything.

I think it's better to send something that actually mirrors the music that is popular in Finland. Not what would possibly do well in ESC. (That's why I hated On top of te world, it was so generic esc song). Even if it doesn't do well in the actual contest. I'm not gettig butthurt over it.

And yeah, the final result isn't usually completely lined up with the esc fans. The fans rates are based a bit differently than the genral public's.
