Re: FINLAND 2014

There has not been any live shows yet, the one that was shown today on Finnish TV was recorded weeks ago and has only demo versions of the songs (and that show has been online for a week anyway). The first live show will be next Saturday.

Damn well i feel like a right mug then. Didn't miss out on ought then. good good.

Yep, the information about all those Finnish "heats" on many sites is misleading.

I am just looking at the voting system. If you pay, you can give 50 votes just by one click... not very fair. Is this kind of system used in other countries?

Wow, that's how it works? It sounds rather corrupt and unfair :/

While I really think the quality of this NF is high, Mikko Pohjola stands far above the rest. I'd loooove to see this band in Copenhagen. It's simple, laid-back, and catchy and deserves to be spread across Europe in may.

After the atrocious entry last year when Mikael Saari should've won, it's time again for Finland to make the right choice.

Yep, see here for example: Jasmin Michaela | UMK2014 | yle.fi

Go to "äänestäminen netissä" and then see "äänimäärä".

I am disappointed...
Yeah, quite weird voting system.

And if I'm not terribly wrong Mikko Pohjola is only contestant who has record company deal so if people in Universal Music Finland are clever enough they could buy Mikko Pohjola a victory.

So something "good" could come out of the system being corrupt?

Re: FINLAND 2014

Although I usually relate best to Jasmin's style of song, she repeats the same thing so many times I get sick before the 3 minutes are over. If Finland wanted something like this they should have done with Elina Orkonova's He's Not My Man last year which was much, much better.

The way I see it, Mikko Pohjola is Finland's only sure chance of getting into the final in 2014. The song is exquisitely simple and imediately catchy in a very melodious sort of way and juries would lap it up big time. Possible top 10 in the final.

Going Down is pleasant but ordinary and all the rest sounds like disposable crap to me.

Re: FINLAND 2014

I don't get the hype about Jasmin's song at all xcrazy

Well,i think its has to do mainly with
1)the language of the song, its kind of funny. If it was in English it would be something common.
2)the charisma of Jasmin. She delivers it in an appropriate way.

Re: FINLAND 2014

Jasmin FTW

I have to admit the demo version is a bit better than the final version, but it's still great. My other favorites are Hanna Sky, Clarissa/John, MIAU, Dennis, Lili, and I'll throw in Makea

Re: FINLAND 2014

Mikko :please:

I've noticed that Softengine is on the playlist of Ylex (YLE's finnish-speaking radio channel) and X3M (YLE's swedish-speaking radio channel). And it's the only common song until now. I think they would be very good entry for Finland.

Re: FINLAND 2014

Most played UMK songs on week 1 in YLE Radio Suomi which is the most listened radio channel in Finland:

5. HUKKA JA MAMA - Selja
6. MIKKO POHJOLA - Sängyn reunalla
9. LAURI MIKKOLA - Going down
12. DENNIS FAGERSTRÖM - My little Honey Bee

Other UMK songs aren't in the top 40 list.
