^Since we don't have any state-owned broadcast stations (as I know of), that would be another issue at play. Our broadcasters love making money with ads :lol:

Yeah, ABC, they have too much ads, it's ridiculous. Even Superbowl, the most American of all American sports event has tons and tons of ads. The broadcasters charge the most during this sports event.

So, if European broadcasters aired ads during Eurovision, I think they would make a lot of money from it! :lol:

Most of them actually do. The greek broadcaster is showing ads in every pause. The portuguese broadcaster and our broadcaster also. I think that the only broadcaster that doesn`t show ads on ESC is the swedish one. They don`t show ads in general.

But of course here nobody watches them, because we use that time as a WC time or to wash the dishes or cigarette pause :lol:

Wait, so how does it work. So, every time a song finished there's a commercial break? or during intermission or something? Perhaps, in the future it could be a 1 big continuous show without ads like Sweden :)

I've only seen the OctoShape broadcasts of Eurovision without commentaries and commercials, so I don't know how it's divided up.

We don't have ads in the UK, because the BBC doesn't have them at all. There's always one or two gaps in the action, though, when the commentator says "This is where the rest of the world gets an ad break. Frankly, I'd prefer the ads." It's the same joke every year. Normally it coincides with a trip to the green room. In 2007 there was an annoying blonde woman who visited a fan park.

Shhhht, she was my personal highlight of the night :)


But as Mickey said, a lot of countries have commercial breaks. So there are breaks so those countries who have to show commercials will do so though the show still goes on for the rest. They either go to the Green Room or the hosts talk about something insignificant to kill the time.
If you live in a country that doesn't show commercials or if you watch it online you get to see everything so unless you're an ESC expert you can't really tell that this is a commercial break filler.

RTBF airs ads? Really, isn't that a channel like VRT?
because VRT never shows ads:D
I like that
Must the Eurovision be aired on any other channel here in Flanders, like VTM or VT4 we would have a lot of adds.

TVR doesen't air ads. They never air ads during a program even if it's a show, a movie, a news bulletin or anything. They air ads only betwen transmisions. Some televisions in Europe air ads that's why they anounced when the ads will be aired. TVR would've won a lot of money this year as the ads are on right after the Romanian performance :D

There will be an E-vote option on Eurovision.tv, and a fan jury will be present as well (the second one more of my wishful thinking)

That won't will be good because will be just like the Televote , and a lot of Turks & EX - URRS fans will vote in mass by their counties in diferents parts of Europe.

That would actually be possible right away (at least in Estonia). Most of EE citizens have plastic identification cards with microchip. We have used it already several times at parliament elections ;)
Every voter would only be able to vote only once. He gives his votes like this: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-12. Of course no personal information would be gathered, only the data that prevents him from voting again.

Here is how i see it:
1. Voter inserts his card into the card reader and opens the voting program.
2. Voter enters his personal code for identification.
3. Voter selects the songs he likes (1. to 12. points)
4. After that he enters the PIN2 code for confirmation.
5. Votes will be sent to the ERR (national television) database where they are analysed and a top-list to be made. Also, the voters data will be sent to the Estonian ID service centre (Sertifitseerimiskeskus) what prohibits the voter from voting again.
6. Votes will be announced through the television

Of course, you could still use SMS for voting...

Seriously though, I think that's gonna be in place in 2030, we'll know how to tame the internet by then ;)
