Well, before I´ll ignore you completely let me tell you something. There is a saying in German which goes this way: Wie man es in den Wald ruft so schallt es zurück.

That means that if you say something offensive you shouldn´t be surprised that the answer won´t be friendly. ;)

So Bye!!

Deswegen bin ich so scharf auf Deutsch.
(Übrigens würde ich gern irgendwann nach Bayern reisen. Das scheint ein schönes Land zu sein. xheart)

lol? i live in France and i didn't get to hear it once on the French radio. EVEN THOUGH I got to hear Frans the year after and as I absolutely adore this entry, i was sooo excited when I heard it for the first time on the radio. xheat

I didnt once hear Heroes either here. I heard Frans on tv a few times before esc even and Euphoria is played time to time (even heard in clubs and shops) but never a big hit spammed over and over. I heard only Tear Drops, and Rise like a Phoenix also. None of the past winners since Jamala ive heard although I could have missed them. This is the UK though so Eurovision struggles hard to break through an already very dominant music industry. I can't really imagine a Eurovision song becoming a smash summer it, while in many countries it seems the norm.

I have to admit that occassionally (to relax during and after work, not to be intellectually stimulated) I am watching german, french and sometimes british or croatian tabloid and realitv shows and I can say that recently ESC saw an increase of mainstream songs that became part of a massive canon used by these editors as tacky background music.
Only from the last few years, Grab the Moment, CityLights, (I'm not your) Toy, Fuego, Lie to Me and even Amor pelos dois I hear from time to time while watching a show where they want to underline and emotion by a song which is saying excatly that. If there would be a scene where someone would surprise their mother "Hey Mamma" could be played for example :D
I see this as a factor in how ESC is much more a mainstream thing now again than it was 10 years ago.

I noticed when I went to Majorca in summer 2018 I did hear a lot more Eurovision songs being played including Fuego at the airport on the way back.

So it's "Open Up" then ?

This can't get any more basic, but I like it better than 99% of the cheesy slogans of the last decade. I wish slogans were more music-centered, but that one actually doesn't sound that political to me. I'm fine with it.

The slogan only leaves it open to all kinds of interpretations, which might be good and bad

Horrible. No Slogan would have been better.

Are we actually ever going to have a good slogan? That looks like they couldn't think of anything so just made up some random nonsense. Open up? This is probably why I like 2009 so much, one year with no slogan and it was a great. I suppose it's good to keep the expectations in the gutter.

What an interesting way to introduce Sietse Bakker:

As for "Open Up"... my first thought was that dirty meme with Kermit & Azerbaijan 2019
