The juries may have enjoyed it, but Realest is right to a certain degree. Outside of the ESC bubble I can't see a televote going her way at all tbh, and I do think it would easily get lost. I never truly bought into her emotion, real or not.

Question is, who would get the votes if Aly, MARUV and Tamta were to compete? Thinking about the horns and that the songs "sound similar" to a certain degree

Hard to define, though Tamta would have an advatage with her voting block. What I could see is Maruv and Aly taking a little each of Sergey's and Luca's televote.

Obviously Maruv. Tamtas only Points came from :gr::ge: for obvious Reasons and :uk: because of the Cypriots there. And a few Fakepoints from :sm: which make no Sense mathematically. Aly Ryan would probably get around 20 Televotes, mostly from :ch::at: and maybe :dk:. Maruv would have got Points from almost everywhere.

^^ It shows what kind of staple Turkey is for Eurovision fans. Personally, I don't adore more of the country's entries but it's utterly sad and disappointing that the Turkish broadcaster is so stubborn, childish and homophobic that he takes away so much joy from (Turkish) Eurovision fans year by year.

Any bets on which broadcaster would release their artist first? I'm feeling like it's Belgium (VRT).

Looks like about it.

Her performance in 2009 was utterly horrendous. If she had represented Montenegro with that vocal performance, she wouldn't have even qualified.
I still don't get it how the professional juries placed er inside the Top 10.

Of Course she would, since she had Tons of universal Appeal and didnt rely only on her Diaspora.
Because it was one of the biggest Hits of ESC 2009 and the Song is still remembered 10 Years later. If the Juries were professional, they had her at least above :uk: and :dk: who were already forgotten 1 Day later.

If she had repped Montenegro she wouldn't have qualified anyway, lol. Montenegro were BULLIED!!! from the moment they were born, they were always on their o-o-own.

I do believe that if Hadise had repped Belgium instead, she would've advanced (the song is p. decent, which is more than half the battle in 2009) and done about as well as Plain Elena.

(btw it really speaks for Elena's plainess that she escaped BorisBubbles Pet Hate Status™. A paint-by-the-numbers trashpop song called 'The Balkan Girls'... from a country located outside of the Balkans. Girl xfacepalm)

IT WAS *HER* TIME
*HER* MOMENT
AND SHE'S *NOT* GONNA LET GO OF IT
, you cruel ghoul xcry

I will never not cackle at Ronan Keating releasing "Believe" as HIS OWN HIT SINGLE immediately after the 2009 contest wrapped up. Denmark is such a fucking ratchet ESC country.

I'll have you know The Balkan Girls was an absolute hit back in 2009. I shan't stand by while Elena is slandered in such manner. xsnooty It was my first ESC I remember hyping it as soon as I saw it on TV. It doesn't pretend to be anything else and is such a catchy pop tune and i'd love it if we had more fun carefree entries like it, instead of everyone trying to have a message or be deadly serious.

:il: :gr: 2017 come to mind as far stronger candidates for the plain paint by numbers songs. But imo 2009 was such a great year, especially that final just a shame about the winner, however the semis contained just enough plain paint by numbers trash that Romania don't even qualify for that category.

Also Romania is often included when referring to the Balkans so it does make sense as their entry.

However yes, :dk: is a ratchet esc country. I don't even know how they've got such a solid qualification record.

DEN was ratchet and pretty vanilla but they're noticeably smart on packaging their entry so that kind of explained a part of their success.

from a country located outside of the Balkans.

As much as we'd like to pretend we're not part of the Balkans, our culture and mentality fits perfectly  In most statistics, we are Schrödinger's Balkans.

People complain about Samra but I think Hadise was a lot worse although "Dum Tek Tek" is a little bop
