NDR is a part of the ARD. As you said NDR-program is mainly focused on the north of Germany. We also have WDR, RBB, SWR, ...and so on ..They are all part of the ARD.
I can't really tell why NDR is responsible for Eurovision ... kind of funny that none of the shows actually airs on NDR :D

It's not about slaping someone's face. It's about rules. European Broadcasting Area is not only Europe, but also regions in North Africa. The Arab member states have the right to compete in Eurovision since the very begining of EBU.

Actually, he has got a point. These countries doesn't care about the Eurovision spirit, the fact that they'd ONLY enter if Israel withdraws is quite telling what type of attitude they have.

I honestly hope those rules will be changed, it ridic that countries like Iraq could enter ESC, like a bad joke.

Having more thought on it, I seriously don't think many of them actually would. These are heavily Muslim countries, some with deep traditional believes and eurovision would definitely not fit into that.

^ I don't even think that Iraq would even consider joining ESC. It is more likely that Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia might show up.

And also I don't understand the hate against the arabic countries that escers have. We ESC-fans should be much nicer, since we have met so much hate in our own countries, especially when our home countries goes bad, and we have to defend the contests value.
I know that some of these countries aren't that great when it comes to human rights, which is in the eurovision-spirit not only when we have a lot of gays who is in love with this contest. But show ignorance and hate is not the best way to make the world a better place, it is to show that we think it is important with human rights.

In a few weeks ago, a man dressed as a bearded woman won Eurovision Song Contest. If someone would have said that 40 years ago, then that person would have been laughed at and be called insane. That a singer like this, first joins the competition and then later on wins it is a huge achievement, not only for the lgbt-community, it is a great display for human rights. This shows people, east and west, that hates the lgbt-community that we are quite many around Europe that wants a better future and human rights. If now Israel would withdraw (I don't hope they will, cause I think Israel has given the contest a lot, just like Turkey and many other Euroasian-countries), and Lebanon and Tunisia would show up, let's welcome them to a world that looks very different from what they are used to see on their tvs and show that this is Eurovision, and here, everyone is welcomed!

That worry seems unnecessary to me. Most of them don't even want to participate.

Despite being eligible, Iraq is not member of EBU. But the other Arab countries are (since many, many years) and they are free to join if they want it. I think that we should encouarge such participation, because it's step forward for these countries and that would be true revolution of people's minds there. Honestly, I don't have anything against the participation of the Arab EBU members. Afterall this years slogan was "Join Us" and that's what Eurovision is all about. And if we don't recognize their natural right to participate (because of being EBU members), the same could happen (and already happens) with the East European countries. Tommorrow someone will say that we also don't have Eurovision spirit, we ruin the contest and only Western countries should take part. That's why we have strict rules which don't depend on our personal opinion and emotions. And they are simple - a country could take part in Eurovision if the respective broadcaster is active EBU member.

Actually I fail to understand his comments most of the time so I can't say if he's right or not.

He says that many television companies from Arab countries are often conservative.

That is actually true, Turkey did not broadcast the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2013 because Finland's lesbian kiss.
