NERIT is not an EBU member and they have to manage to become one til January. Last year the EBU gave them special permission but they won't do the same this year.
EBU themselves said that Greece will only participate if NERIT manages to comply to EBU rules and specifications til January. I think the main problem was the lack of independence from ye government or something. If you go to EBU s website he Greek broadcaster appear as 'vacant'. I'm not saying that EBU will bend their rules or not, I'm just explaining that the problem is not financial this time.EBU seem to have no problem bending on their own rules if it means more entrants and more cash

If Greece are that keen to participate in ESC 2015, why don't NERIT just look sharp and join the EBU. What are they waiting for? Don't wait till January, come on NERIT hurry up and join well before Christmas.
Ditto 1FLTV, and the Moroccan broadcaster which showed an interest.
Back in the UK, why doesn't Channel 5 Broadcasting become part of UKIB, and thus (through affiliation) membership of the EBU. Then we'd have another UK broadcaster that maybe will show an interest in entering the UK in JESC 2015.
Well why doesn't the EBU hurry up and accept NERIT as a member? They can't just decided to join, the EBU is the one that has to accept them.
Im guessing Channel 5 arent interested in it otherwise they would join.Back in the UK, why doesn't Channel 5 Broadcasting become part of UKIB, and thus (through affiliation) membership of the EBU. What criteria must a new broadcaster (e.g. NERIT) meet before the EBU can accept them as a member?Because there are procedures to be fulfiled. Gaining EBU membership is not just formal thing, the broadcaster is being observed carefully and so on.
Well why doesn't the EBU hurry up and accept NERIT as a member?
Liechtenstein doesn't have enough money as the government still doesn't support the entry into the EBU. Kazakhstan I have no idea.Same question could be asked for the everlasting waiting of the Lichtenstein and Kazakh broadcasters

Yeah, it sounds funny that then e.g. Azerbaijan or Georgia are recognised as part of Europe and can take a part in contest. But on the other hand, it's a bit reasonable thinking. Now it's 23:57 in Astana, so they are 5 hours ahead of Central European Time. ESC semi-final/final broadcast in 2:00 at night? I don't think that Kazakhs will be very into watching it then. Not at all invalid, the "outside the European Broadcasting area" is a joke and the map hasn't been updated for decades... in other words it's time to review that one, the country is already part as Europe in many other events... just saying.

Anyway, I'm not convinced to have a another non-European countries in ESC. We shouldn't look for Asian/African states to get more participants.
In this point I must agree. It's ridiculous that e.g. Libya, Egypt or Algeria can take a part in European contest, instead of Kazakhstan.Iraq is allowed according to that not-up-to-date map, is that more logical than a country which has a geographical part of Europe that is bigger than some European countries (= Kazakhstan)? It's not about whether or not they'll be watching, it's about that for technical and geographical reasons there's no reason to close the door to them.
Yes, it was only my opinion about slightly-European/non-European (no offence ofc) countries in contest.Anyways, this is a different discussion and wasn't really part of my original point.
38 confirmed countries at this moment (including Greece) + eventually Bulgaria. So 38 or 39 participants. So how many countries will eventually take part next year?
