I don't think we will see that many. Marocco will most certainly not participate, Turkey has already said no and as for those who stayes away this year, I think there's still a big question mark on Bulgaria, Croatia and Bosnia. I think though, Israel will manage it to take part, but others could perhaps take a break, like San Marino and perhaps even Romania (according to some rumors....)

Turkey will be back. Bosnia will most probably sit this one out, too, even though they can save some money on travel fare as Vienna is much closer than Copenhagen.

Left to confirm from 2014:

:al: Albania - I think would come back
:il: Israel - I think it will withdraw
:it: Italy - Will come back definitely
:lv: Latvia (indicated confirmation) - I think they will come back
:md: Moldova - I don't know... I have a gut that they could withdraw also
:pl: Poland (indicated confirmation) - Not sure about them, I'm between
:ro: Romania - Could withdraw
:sm: San Marino - Could also withdraw because they don't have money, all these years they were helped by Ralph Siegel, and with him out of the picture, they will need support to finance an entry other than Valentina
:sl: Slovenia - I see them confirming at the very last minute as this year
:es: Spain (indicated confirmation) - Sure comeback
:ua: Ukraine - Obviously coming back

Others:

:ba: Bosnia and Herzegovina - I think they will stay out, because of Turkey out and the floods
:bg: Bulgaria - I think they will come back
:hr: Croatia - I think they wlll not come back
:ma: Morocco - Are you serious?
:rs: Serbia - They will come back, I mean if the returned to JESC why not ESC
:tr: Turkey (unlikely) - we already knew they would not return

I think we could end up with 37 countries again like this year with 3 returns (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Serbia) and 3 withdrawals (Israel, Romania, San Marino, and if not these 3, maybe interchange with Moldova)

Romania is just stirring like they usually do, I seriously doubt they'll withdraw. And why would San Marino withdraw now - just because Valentina is out of the picture, that doesn't mean Siegel is out of the picture, does it? (comforting, I know.) I predict that at least one more Balkan that didn't participate this year will return (Serbia and/or Bulgaria) and at least one will try to return, but end up having to withdraw after all (Croatia/B&H.)

I won't be surprised if Albania withdraws, because their broadcaster's attitude has been horrible since 2013 and I think they would rather quit trying than get it together. Unless they saved a lot of money by neglecting Hersi.

I don't think Romania will withdraw either, They have a brilliant record. (yes they seem to consistently hit below the top 10 usually in 12th place) but they have qualified every year, and 12th is nothing to angry about. I would super happy if the UK got the places they get. Romania usually threat a withdrawal most years. They might be discouraged with how Paula and Ovi under performed this year though. But not enough to withdraw.

Odd behavior considering their 5th place in 2012 :? That'd be a shame if they decide to quit.

Anyway, I hope :sl: will stay in the game. They'd have quite some reasons to withdraw, but still...

What are these rumors I'm hearing about Turkey, that they chose artist and song, but then withdrew?

Anyway, if EBU does not want a semi-final of 11 songs each they better allow Marocco, Liechenstein and Australia to compete.

I'm pretty sure we'll have more participating countries that this year.

29 countries confirmed, 9 unsure (and I don't think all of the unsure countries will say yes).
If Serbia returns, maybe we'll have more than 37

What they got everything sorted, but then withdrew? what the hell?

As for 11 songs in a semi final, i'm sure if that was the case the EBU would either decrease it so 7/8 songs qualified or remove the semi's and have a final with 28 songs. But yes I get the point that if countries keep withdrawing then we will end up back in the 90's with number of participants. But I think the past recent years we have seen a mix of bad results in the Balkans, economic difficulty & a sudden western/Scandinavian monopoly on the contest that is discouraging countries, particularly eastern countries.
