Guess I will be happy, should Germany survive the group phase. Rooting for some outsiders like Georgia, Scotland and also the Czech Republic and Austria. Who will make it? I take a guess and say The Netherlands. :D

My prediction (that has changed like every day in the last couple of weeks)

Group A

1 :de: 5p
2 :hu: 5p
3 :sc: 3p
4 :ch: 2p

We've been struggling against the type of teams that are between 11th and 40th (approximately) in the FIFA world ranking. I think except for Nagelsmann debut against USA (3:1 win) we didn't beat ANY of those teams since 2021. Now all these three competitors here actually belongs in that range and I really wonder why we would suddenly start doing well against these teams. But I think we will somehow wrestle down the Scots, grind out a late draw against Hungary and win a draw against Switzerland in a wild game with many defensive mistakes on both sides. Scotland loses also against Hungary but by a lesser margin than against us, but they beat Switzerland and become 3rd in the end

Group B
1. :es: 7p
2. :hr: 4p
3. :it: 4 p
4. :al: 1

Italy just can't beat Croatia and Croatia gets the 2nd place for scoring more goals against Albania while Italy only beats them 1-0 thanks to a penalty. After beating both of their toughest competitors Spain save their power in the last match day and therefore enable Albania to achieve a glorious draw

Group C
1. :en: 9p
2. :dk: 4p
3. :sl: 3p
4. :rs: 1p

Not a lot to comment on this. Serbia will once again disappoint on a big stage

Group D
1. :fr: 9p.
2. :nl: 6p.
3. :at: 1p.
4. :pl: 1p.

Austria was my dark horse throughout the last few months but Ive talked to many people and fans, listened to experts and watched videos of football content creators on YT and everybody is hyping them up as crazy and meanwhile I think it reached a level in which Austria isn't even a secret dark horse anymore but actually the team people confidentally expect to cause a big upset so at this point the players have certainly already taken notice of it and suddenly feel like there's something to lose so they will eventually collapse under the pressure and won't even beat the Polish. And they have a couple of painful injuries anyway: Kalajdzic, Alex Schlager, Xaver Schlager, Alaba all are out. Sabitzer is there but he appears to be a little burnt out still due to the lost UCL final

Group E
1.
:ua: 9p
2. :be: 6p
3. :sk: 1p
4. :ro: 1p

Ukraine shocks Belgium with great counter attacking football. Slovakia vs Romania is going to be the most boring match of the tournament.

Group F
1. :tr: 7p
2. :pt: 7p
3. :cz: 3p
4. :ge: 0p

Turkey will put on a proper fight against Portugal in this group and actually top them in the group due to better goal difference.
Georgia does not belong here and don't deserve to be here but hey, it's a nice experience for the players and I am happy for the football fans over there

Round of 16
:de: vs :dk: --> :de: (Germany finally pulls off a good performance)
:hu: vs :hr: --> :hu: (shock!)
:es: vs :sc: --> :es: (after extra time)
:en: vs :cz: --> :en: (easy one, 3:0 or sth)
:tr: vs :sl: --> :tr: (Turkey is slaying this summer)
:nl: vs :be: --> :nl: (what a match! I think Netherlands is going to be a littler more clever in the end)
:ua: vs :it: --> :ua: (after extra time. Ukraine taking revenge for barely falling short in the final match of qualification)
:fr: vs :pt: --> :fr: (first penalty shoot-out in this tournament. France taking revenge for Euro 2016 final)

QF
:es: vs :de: --> :de: (Mmh, I just want us to beat Spain once in my life time. We can do it)
:tr: vs :nl: --> :nl: (Turkiyes dream ends here)
:ua: vs :fr: --> :fr: (...so does Ukraines)
:en: vs :hu: --> :en: (...and Hungarys! but who knows... I remember them beating England by 4:0 recently)

SF
:de: vs :nl: --> :de: (I am biased anyway. But I don't believe in a repitition of 1988 when they beat us on home ground in Semi final)
:fr: vs :en: --> :fr: (England bottles a lead and loses in extra-time)

Final
:de: vs :fr: --> :fr: (both in 2016 and 2020 the home team lost the final. We will follow this curse)

Boring choice in the end, but I think :fr: will somehow win it. Cause the only team that can compete with them in terms of individual quality is England but England are chokers

The championship is finally starting, really looking to it.

There is no euphoria in :rs: whatsoever and nobody expects anything....probably for the first time ever. This could be an advantage, but at the end of the day, it really depends on how we present ourselves. Support of the fans needs to be earned on the field.

I think :fr: is the biggest favorite to take the title and :en: is close second. I expect a very exciting tournament.

Have bought many snacks for tonight - better choice than chewing on my fingernails. I am not as positive as @ShoeFlo since we had so many weak games the past years and I doubt we can change that suddenly. So for my part, I would be happy to survive the group stage. I believe that Scotland will be a hard nut to crack - we always had our problems with such teams. And I love Scotland - so I am also rooting for them in our group.

@mauve
well tbh Germany beating Spain is rather my wish than a conviction tbh but everything else I consider realistic :)
but then again failing in the gruop stage seems as much a possibility as making it to the final tbh :D
because as I said we've been really really bad against teams like Hungary and Switzerland
I mean we played both teams in the Nations League in the last four years or so and we didn't win a single of these matches
Yes, I am somehow optimistic but I am for sure mentally ready to get disappointed once again

My prediction has also changed every day. This is a compromise between how I think it will be and how I would like it to be. It is very sad that only Denmark is in the final tournament from the Nordic countries. Mostly will root for them. Always Croatia is among my favorites as well. And of course will support all underdogs.

Prediction.

Germany has not been doing well lately, but somehow I believe in Nagelsmann. And actually, I don't want to wish victory to any other of the big favorites.

Many people predict actually a German victory over Spain (saw a few prediction videos), but I am rather of a sceptical mind. :) Many of them see a final between Germany and France with France winning.
I don't hope for a France win in general, rather an underdog taking the whole thing. I want a surprise!

Okay ... great way to start a tournament. But Scotland was such a weak opponent yesterday that I have no clue yet where we are standing. But on the other hand in the past we could have even lost those kind of games ... so I try to be slightly positive. Let's see how the games against Hungary and Switzerland will end and whether Germany can keep this level. Am ecited for the games today!
By the way Füllkrug and his daughter ... xheart

I expected much more from Scotland. This is probably their weakest match in a while. They will have a hard time recovering for the next two games but it's not impossible.

Congratulations :de: xclap Splendid opening for one of my favorite teams.

Very cute indeed. And I just read today that his daughters name is Emilia and that she was born in 2019. My niece was also born in 2019 and her nam is... also Emilia. I had to smile about this. :giggle:

And to be honest I have to say that Füllkrüg definitely has something. xheat
