:wale: ::ulst → :wale:
:hr: :pt::pt:
:fr: :ie::fr:
:de: :sk::de:
:hu: :be::be:
:it: :es::es: (But not decision before the extra time, I would rather expect a penalty shoot)

Prediction check

The rather optimistic predictions for Hungary surprise me a bit cause I consider them the weakest team of the tournament xthink :eek:

Group A:
1. :fr:
2. :ch:
3. :ro:
4. :al:

I knew there was a chance that :al: beats :ro: but I thought :al: would lose their nerves

Group B:
1. :en:
2. :sk:
3. :wale:
4. :ru:

I predicted :ru: failure xup
Underrated Bales though

Group C:
1. :de:
2. :ua:
3. :pl:
4. Northern Ireland

Fail... what was wrong with :ua: :(

Group D (what a group! :eek: ):
1. :es:
2. :hr:
3. :tr:
4. :cz:

I knew :tr: would beat :cz: but I thought :es: would march into Round of 16 without any problems

Group E:
1. :be:
2. :it:
3. :ie:
4. :se:

Again, I was right about last place

Group F:
1. :pt:
2. :at:
3. :is:
4. :hu:

Didn't get a single position right here :lol: but I'm probably not the only one

----

Only mentionable achievement of my prediction: I predicted the big failures of :ru: :se: and :cz:

Le'ts check as well :D

Predictions are cool. So am I. Obvious to get ourselves together :cool:
Group A
:fr: 9
:ro: 4
:al: 2
:ch: 1

Overrated Romania and underrated Switzerland. But knew, that Albania cannot get into the lucky 3rd placers.

Group B
:en: 7
:wale: 5
:ru: 2
:sk: 1

Everything's wrong here xfacepalm

Group C
:pl: 9
:de: 6
:ua: 3
::ulst 0

Messed it up once again, but Poland was closer to a goal than Germany!

Group D
:es: 9
:hr: 3
:tr: 3
:cz: 3
If I didn't mistaken I predicted a turkish win against :cz: as well :D. Anyway. Only last places right, and here it was more a random prediction.

Group E
:be: 9
:it: 4
:ie: 4
:se: 0
Predicted Ireland to the K.O.'s. Thought that Belgium can beat Italy. Obviously I was wrong.

Group F
:pt: 7
:hu: 4
:is: 4
:at: 1

Did I say that :at: will struggle? #ProudToKnowAtLeastOneThing

Well. The prediciton game with my family runs better :lol:

F****** Iceland! Did you really need to stay ahead of us in the group so badly? I was already overjoyed over the prospect of going against the English when I suddenly realized that the match I wanted the least to happen at this moment is going through :(

I don't know how I will feel about the match in 2 days...ofc I will be happy if somehow my nation goes through. But if the more likely option happens and it doesn't then I'll probably be the only person in Portugal not completely sad :mrgreen: I better not watch this match at some public place for my own safety. My nation has been a big disappointment so far, if going out means that beautiful and exciting football goes forward then I won't mind so much losing to Croatia. I think going this far is already a victory considering the expectations that were not met at all. Not even Santos can save a "team" like that. I think we'll have a proper team again the day Ronaldo retires. Curiously this is the inverse of Sweden...with the announced retirement of Zlatan I think they will struggle more from now on. They had the reference like us but were much more of a team than we ever were.

Ronaldo seems to need micros to perform minimaly. The guy loves pressure and controversy...he is the douchebag Lewis Hamilton of football. Also I bet this is the ESC entry he fancies the most:

How Austria managed to lose to Iceland is beyond me...hang that Dragovic & co.

I'm sad for :se:...they never materialized the decent football they displayed. Too bad really, if football wasn't about goals in the end and rather about merit then they would clearly be in this next round. I have to take back what I said about Belgium before btw, last night I saw a team that can go places even if they had no ball possession most of the time. But they are very good in transitions, counter-attacks. Not to mention they are full of players who can "make up" a goal out of the blue. Also I was wrong about Lukaku, he seems to have found his form now.

I don't know it it was "rigged" in some way (didn't watch) but I am happy for Ireland beating Italy considering that meant that the dirtiest (perhaps a tie with the Italians themselves) team :tr: of the tournament is out.

The two muslim nations out of the Euro...#coincidence or #funfact?

Next round predictions:

:ch: - :pl: -> :ch: (sorry to Poland but my expectations haven't been met yet. I think Switzerland has a little bit of an edge..)
:wale: - Ulster -> :wale:
:hr: - :pt: -> :hr: (Honesty always prevails)
:fr: - :ie: -> :fr:
:de: - :sk: -> :de:
:hu: - :be: -> :be: (though there could be a surprise still..)
:it: - :es: -> :es: (but Italy have disgusting luck on their side always, so beware Spain)
:en: - :is: -> :en: (You know I really have to be pissed at a nation when I am rooting for the poms. But seriously, if England loses this one somehow it will be the talk of the week)

(England win penalty shoot-out)

sure :lol:

Predictions:

:ch: - :pl: 1:2

Poland will oversleep the first minutes of the match and concede their first goal in this Euro's. Consequently the first half will be rather boring. Switzerland won't risk too much and Poland is still shocked. In the second half Poland step up their game and create chances over chances. Milik will score the equalizer around 65th minute and Lewandowski score the lead after counter attack 4 minutes before end.

:wale: - ::ulst 1:0
It will be a boring match with many fouls and only a few chances. Wales will struggle to break the defense of Ulster, which will have some chances through corners. A penalty of Gareth Bale will decide the match in favour of Wales.

:hr: - :pt: 2:1
Portugal's disaster will be complete. The starting phase will be balanced but after Croatia take the lead through a goal of Dario Srna they start to dominate and outclass Portugal. Mandzukic will score the second and it will look like they could humiliate Portugal. Then 15 minutes before end CR will surpsringly score 1:2 after a wonderful solo run and suddenly Croatia gets a little nervous. But Portugals efforts in the last few minutes wont be strong enough

:fr: - :ie: 2:0
Ireland will be stretched to their limits and it will be a very one-sided match. Finally the host nation shows why they considered a favorite to win the title. It will be an easy 2:0 win against an harmless Ireland side which can be fine with that result

:de: - :sk: 3:0
Our attack looked already great against Northern Ireland but they missed to score more goals. Now they will find back their efficiency and score three. A wonderful long-range shot of Toni Kroos and two tap-ins of Thomas Müller. Slovakia will have two excellent chances but Neuer will save his goal with brillant saves. The supernatural triangle Neuer-Boateng-Hummels will be indestructible.

:hu: - :be: 1:2 (AET)
To everyone's surprise this will be a very open match with both teams looking for their chances. Belgium will be surprised about Hungary's strength so they will feel intimidated and nervous. Hungary will take the lead in the second half through a wonderful volley goal of Laszlo Kleinheisler but Belgium is gonna equalize just three minutes later. In the extra time Belgium will have more power and stamina and they will dominate big times. In the 102nd minute de Bruyne will decide the match after a nice short-pass-combo.

:it: - :es: 3:4 (Penalty shoot-out)
This will be a very tactical match. Italy will have some huge chances through counter attacks. Spain will have around 70% possession but won't create many chances. However, none of this teams will score. In the extra time Italy will be even stronger cause their players are fitter than the Spanish players. They will lack precision though. In the Penalty shoot-out Spain will miss one shot (save by Buffon) and Italy two shots (one saved by de Gea and one goes over the goal).

:en: - :is: 2:1 (AET)
England will dominate the whole match against a compact and clever defending Iceland side. they won't have a single goal chance within the first 20 minutes but then they will raise the pressure and create some chances. Iceland will have only one chance in the first half: Sigthorsson misses the goal closely after a nice counter attack. In the last minute before half time Icelands keeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson fails to catch the ball after a cross from the right side. Rooney will stand at the right position and shot the ball into the empty goal.
In second half England keep dominating but misses the second goal. Iceland doesn't seem to have an attacking strategy and they can't control the midfield. in the last 15 minutes England feels safe and Iceland is gonna speed up and suddenly creates 2, 3 chances. A superb free kick of Gylfi Sigurdsson will give them the equalizer in the 85th minute.
Knowing that England can't win penalty shoot-outs Iceland will focus un defending again in the extra time. They will substitute defense players so they can act with a back five/six in defense. Unluckily, England will score in the 117th minute by a deflected long-range shot of Dele Ali and avoid the disaster.

What? England so far have shown difficult in brekaing down defensive teams. A 0-0 is for sure possible, and Iceland been very impressive so far. But I expect England to prevail, so what's the problem?

The problem was, you predicted Enland would *win* a penalty shoot out. Scientists have proved that that is impossible.

Fair point, but Iceland would likely choke in that situation.

Actually, England won the quarter final of Euro 1996 against Spain in penalty shoot out so I just proved you wrong xacademic

I know, I am fun at parties.
