It's a tragedy ... I usually loved many Estonian entries, but this year, I absolutely found nothing. I really don't care who wins and who will be finally send to Rotterdam. Hopefully next year the songs will be better again. :(

Same here, my opinion took a pretty sharp turn after the live shows. Uku's song was never anything groundbreaking, but based on the studio version I thought it had decent potential to do well at least. But when I saw the live version... yeah.. no. Doesn't have nearly the impact I was hoping it would. Without decent staging the song is left to stand on it's own and that's not really a good thing in this case. Everything just felt so lackluster and weak. But our televoters will probably go gaga for it nevertheless.

I wouldn't say it's impossible. Looking at the songs in the final, most of them are pretty jury friendly. Only Synne and Uku stick out as the cheesiest two. Laura might get ranked down for her shoddy vocals, Inger is very matter-of-taste. I wouldn't rule out Uku ending up 10th or 11th, which could be enough to knock him out. But everything will depend of the jury we get so.. who knows. If he makes the superfinal, I suspect we'll have our winner, unless his performance in the final is somehow even blander than before.

The only sign of hope is that Jaagup has some 10k more views on YT than Uku.
But this is probably because of international fans.

Your IJ jury was mega shit last year. Bunch of Americans (some anyway) That almost killed off the best songs in the final.

This is my 1000th post!! xcheer

Can´t believe we still have to wait more than a week for the final. I´m crossing my fingers for Traffic, Jaagup, Shira and Rasmus. As long as one of them wins I´m happy. :Dxpray
See now Uku winning!

Most likely, indeed. :cautious: Plus many of Uku's fans and voters will be older people & casual viewers who aren't as likely to watch YT videos.

At this point, I think everything is in the hands of the international jury. If they don't sink Uku, he probably has this in the bag. I guess it's possible that Jaagup fans will band together and beat Uku by 1% or something, but all the early signs point to Uku being the people's favourite. Well, if our televoters get their wish and pick Uku, I hope they won't be too disappointed when Uku gets the Verona treatment from juries come May and sinks without a trace. Unless he gets a big truckload of cash from his buddy Kirkorov and spends it all on his staging, maybe that will help. But if they keep to their new rules and keep the performance the same as Eesti Laul, we might as well start planning for 2021. It should be another top 10 year after all! :D

Just scrolled through the comments under Uku's official video and was struggling to find anything even slightly negative. It seems to be very much loved by people. Probably just not the taste of your average online fan (well even that is questionable as many of those top 12 videos have him as number one or top 3). So I personally can't see the problem with sending him over an Arcade & Billie mash. If the selection is so weak you're 25th in the odds, you might as well choose the singer with 15 years of performing experience.

Also, Kirkorov would probably play a bigger role in this once it was chosen as the official entry. He clearly hates being seen as a loser, that's why he's so low key during the NF but I can see him becoming openly a member of the team if Uku won. :D

I wasn't a Jaagup fan at the beginning of the selection, but dear God, if anyone would pick Uku over him, after Jaagup's performance..... I'll have completely lost hope for the Estonian public. I don't think that's happening. I also think Sünne has more of the old people/Verona kind of appeal. I definitely have hope we'll at least get Sünne or Jaagup over Uku. (I also think Rasmus Rändvee is a contender still, and I'd prefer him over any of these in the end I suppose)

I wish that 15 years of experience was a little more obvious on stage. I guess he's probably less likely to get a nervous breakdown than someone as young as Jaagup, but nothing about Uku's performance rose above mediocrity for me. His vocals were alright, but they're not going to blow any juries away either. Couple that with the sub-par staging & cheesetastic song.. the whole package just feels so underwhelming. I'm sure he would get some votes from older people come May, but the whole thing currently comes off as more "eh, it's alright I guess" at best than "wow, I need to vote for this!!". So I'm unsure his potential televotes will offset the very likely low jury score. While I don't think Jaagup will be reaching any super-high places either, given his similarity to last year's winner.. his odds of making the final seem better to me right now. If nothing else, the juries should help him through. Unless he completely flops on stage and turns into a sweaty creep like Jüri Pootsmann. But then again, everyone thought Koit & Laura were also a solid dependable package to send, with plenty of years of experience, and look how that turned out. Koit was just as creepy as Jüri.

I think Uku shirked the EL rules of having the song authors be 50/50 locals and foreigners. He had Kirkorov & his dream team write the song, but can't list them all as authors since that would break the rules. :sneaky: So he picked one and pretends the others are just 'helping out' and 'part of the team'. Well, that's my conspiracy theory anyway.

Oh, our televoters will pick Uku. I have very little hope of anything else happening. Sünne is even more likely than Uku to be sunk by juries so I think her odds of making the superfinal are very slim. And even if she did make it there, I suspect people would go for Uku over her. Perhaps 29th will bring some surprises and I'll be surprised, but currently it feels like a done deal. :cautious:

In other news, the Õhtuleht poll has opened. Not overly many voters yet, but current standings are:

103 - Uku
85 - Jaagup
49 - Traffic
44 - Egert
41 - Synne
25 - Inger
22 - Shira
21 - Stefan
19 - Uudo
16 - Rasmus
14 - Anett x Fredi
13 - Laura

As expected, a two horse race. Rasmus surprisingly low, but it's still early days, and last year this poll wasn't completely accurate (tho' it did predict Victor winning correctly). Still, Rasmus might do worse than expected.

Jaagup
Traffic
Egert
Inger
SHIRA
Stefan
Rasmus
Anett/Fredi
... these can all realistically beat Uku in Jury votes. I doubt in Laura (her vocals were disaster in semi), Uudo and Synne have no hope. So it is totally possible Uku will be down to 8th or 9th in Jury votes. Even if Uku wins televoting that might not be enough if there are several songs in top 5 in both votes.

Jaagup will be lock for the Super Final
Egert could get in ahead of Uku
... and then maybe Traffic/Stefan have a chance to finish ahead of Uku too.

I bet last year, Uku was secretly praying for the juries to kick Victor out. But this year, he's going to be the one in Victor's shoes. Guess we'll have to wait and see if he'll have more luck.. or less. Going to be an interesting evening anyway. Would love for them to release the jury member names already, but they probably won't until the show. Will they at least judge the show live this time? Or based on semi performances, like last year?

Hopefully Rasmus will improve his vocals. :giggle: He was pretty decent back in 2017, so I'm thinking this poor performance might have been shaky nerves. Now that he's safely in the final & doesn't have to perform first, maybe he'll bring his A-game. Not sure that'll be enough to get him anywhere near winning, but will make for a better show at least.
