i guess i can give victor 4 points with the potential of a few more if he fixes voice, stage presence, staging and haircut. but like... it could have been a 12 (if inga) or a 10 (if sandra, uku, stefan or inger).

The jury would be way more effective if there was no super final. I think the point of doing it 50:50 is to find a song that both the audience and the professionals appreciate. This is how Ukraine won in 2016. Stefan would have won tonight, gaining 12 from juries and 7 from televoters. Would have been a respectable winner.

Hope this is something the producers consider in the future.

Would you have said the same thing in 2017? Or would it have been "stupid juries, rigging it for Kerli, people clearly wanted Verona, this is bs!"

Personally, I like having the superfinal. Vox populi and all that. Never liked Verona, but didn't want Kerli to win only thanks to juries either. I guess making it 2 entries again would give juries more power, but that leaves things open for anti-voting, making it harder for anything 'less safe' to win. Juries already have the power to exclude any and all Leto Svet's in the pre-selection round. If they want only the classiest of entries, they can make it happen without us even knowing about it. So I'm fine with giving televoters the final say in the contest, whatever that may be.

Well so much for our YouTube and Spotify queen Inga. As it turns out those stats really meant absolutely nothing after all. The getting ill and performing 2nd withcraft didn't work either.:( At least we had the gifs and this thread.

Victor, Inger, Stefan (and Uku) got the biggest cheering in the audience. As the show went on the cheering for Victor became almost deafening.

I personally don't really mind Victor's song but like has already been said it is something that should have competed 5 years ago not now. All that cheering for a song as basic as this? I truly don't understand people. I was rooting for Stefan to win but oh well.

The juries feel pretty much powerless and pointless right now when Victor was so low with them and yet he still won. I guess people just don't care that we probably won't be getting much from the juries in May either and kept voting for him anyway.

I hated the pre-recorded vocals. It was very clear how much Victor and Sandra benefitted from those. In fact I think the interval acts (at least Elina Nechayeva and Getter) were lip syncing their entire performances which was VERY disappointing. This shit needs to go next year.

The cartoons were awful.

Loved the hosts.

Well, I said the same thing in 2017 :p The televote has too much power, and they've been increasing it several times.

I'm giving 6 points. The song is a fine composition and it's staged well. The problem with the entry is Victor; He has some basic charm about him, but I think his lack of descirnible personality traits and lackluster voice will destroy Estonia's chances at a final if they're not careful. I really wish Stig had given this song to someone else (or even kept it for himself), but oh well, c'est la vie.

Strong music, which stays in my ear. It was not my favorite, but I think it would be my 2 or 3. Good choice Estonia.

10 Points of me

I actually liked Verona and Spirit Animal equally, so I think I would have been fine with it.. But you have a point, I tend to be biased and stand against whoever kills my favorite

I just feel like the juries don't really have a point if they can hardly influence the final results, you know? They can only influence the rest of the scoreboard that don't stand a chance at winning anyway, so might as well not include them in the first place and leave the decision up to televoters only. At the end of the day, who cares if you come 5th or 9th? Yet that's all the juries are able to change.

This is super basic, have heard a million times before. I can't even judge how this will do in ESC.

Glad to wake up and see that Victor had taken the win! Storm's not a brilliant song by any means, but it was my favourite from a weak selection, and unlike some others I was fairly happy with how it all came across live, having watched the final performance just then.

Getting the negatives out of the way: it's fairly basic Swedish-composed radio pop, with some repetitive melodies, not a whole lot of new sounds and not the world's best vocalist. But despite that, it's catchy, uplifting and builds well enough. Victor's vocals, while not perfect, carried the song here (the question being whether he can then do the same without pre-recorded backings. He'll at least have lots of space for extra backing singers under the six-person limit). In terms of staging, he came across fairly well due to knowing exactly where the cameras were, keeping a smile up etc. - again, all basic smiling-pop-singer stuff, but it's executed well enough. And the staging bit towards the end that switched between the storm backdrop and the audience was quite impressive, however they did that.

Final verdict: definitely a step down from Elina last year, in my eyes, but the best choice that could've been made from this lineup, and something I'd happily listen to. 7 points for now, though it's close to an 8.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that the Estonian thread is longer at the moment than the freaking Swedish thread? I don't think I've seen that happen on this forum yetxheat

I'd actually be fine with removing the juries, as long as the pre-selection jury was doing their job well. Or maybe keep the juries for the semi finals, do away with the 'televote save' round to give them more power, and make the final televote-only? Giving juries more power in the final might have some benefits, but I guess it just feels off to me for 7 random people to completely overwrite the votes of thousands and thousands of televoters. Especially if they're not even Estonian. They should do their pre-selection round duty well enough that there would be no need to 'kill off' any song.

Eesti Laul should belong to the Estonians. Maybe the producers will revert back to basics if the Estonians themselves complain loudly enough.

Voted 7 for now - it's like a poor tribute to Avicii made in a rush, and the whole time I listen to it I'm always super nervous that Victor's voice will crack horribly at the high notes in the chorus. At least it's not a ballad

A song heard a thousand times before … but people seem to love it. To me it is boring, and bland. Estonia used to be one of my most favorite ESC-countries, but this song is a huge disappointment. 3 points.

There was this fun tweet I ran into that basically said "Today Victor won in Estonia - tomorrow Ott will win in Sweden" (as a reference to Ott Tänak who Is leading the Swedish Rally)

Jury gave votes based on semi-finals performances and Vic was totally pathetic there. His performance yesterday was (though not perfect) much better. That could explain why the jury killed him.

This song, artist and performance leave me unimpressed. Dont love it, dont hate it. But for anyone to say this song is terrible, old fashioned, staging sucks etc. is just hating. Production value itself puts it above the "terrible" level. Considering how Estonia usually gets less points than it deserves I dont see this song qualifying. It will not flop hard either, like the "hating herd" here hopes. Probably "close to Q, but eventually out of the final" stuff.
