Re: ESTONIA 2019

The reactions you're getting are precisely what you deserve. :-) Goodbye :-)

Yes, as soon as you lose the argument you started, the smartest move is "to take your ball and go home." C Ya!

Wouldnt it have been easier to say: "Sorry I missed his previous post" ... probably not, because it takes a man to accept that.

What argument? If someone asks you to stop interacting with them (without using cusswords, might I add) and you then proceed to insult them (by using cusswords), then it's a fucking unprovoked attack. Other posters have expressed the same ideas you did and did not receive such reactions. You know why? Because they don't behave like little children.

In fact, from what I have observed in this threat it is in fact you who has been exhibiting a toxic streak of posts that were both passive-aggressive and hyper-aggressive in style, showing a mindset that is smug and self-righteous and belligerent along the way, insulting people because they dare to not agree with you and getting flustered when other posters do likewise. Honestly, why do you even post on message boards? Clearly you can barely tolerate opinions that differ even slightly from yours and your glaring lack of social skills don't make things any easier any of us.

Indeed, I don't want to talk to you any more, because it fucking exhausts me and any other poster reading this thread. So I *am* ending the argument here. Not for my sake and not for yours, but for the sake of healthy discussion and the wellbeing of other posters in this thread. You may have the last word if it pleases you. Declare your "victory" if you must. I will no longer be responding to it.

Sorry I stopped after 1st paragraph of your post, because after basically saying "it is ok to call people losers" clearly you have no reasonable thing to say ...

Re: ESTONIA 2019

If our nation didn't stop voting for Stig after Play flopped as hard as it possibly could, I don't see why Victor flopping would have any bigger effect. Besides, it usually ends up being "Europe is dumb and this contest is all political anyway!" when we do bad, rather than "oh no, we'll never pick such a mediocre song again! We've learned our lesson!". So for anyone hoping Victor's flop would make a huge difference in our voting patterns, I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll just have to hope there are some really good outstanding songs in future Eesti Laul editions, that will beat any mediocre Stig entry in the running. :)
the point obviously is not to make the people of a country have different opinions, because what kind of barely-sentient animal takes any prickly observation about a song contest as an attack against the country itself? (well, we know the answer........) rather, it's to have the people who organize eesti laul and delegate the country in eurovision (colloquially referred by everyone as "estonia") make better decisions for their own sake. every decision that allowed victor crone to enter eesti laul and succeed has been questionable so far, and they need to reassess.

everyone uses the country's name as shorthand for the channel and the people behind the entry, and if someone chooses to read it any other way then they are just looking for reasons to be offended.

Re: ESTONIA 2019

Here`s a newsflash:

People who organize Eesti Laul

a) DO NOT send songs to the competition
b) DO NOT take part of the selection of semi-finalists
c) DO NOT have special voice or vote to disqualify or add songs they like/dislike

So saying "I hope they learn from their failures" in the case of Estonia equals to "I hope the Estonian jury/voters learn from their failures"

... probably takes a full brain to understand that.

Re: ESTONIA 2019

GP watches each Eurovision as brand new and does not care about the motivations or reasons behind the songs chosen. Let's be real, they don't even care if there were national finals or an internal selections. They just see what they like and vote for it.

Fans, on the other hands, actually CARE about how and which songs are chosen to represent a country. So it's fully justified for a person on an online forum to hope sending a bad song "teaches a country a lesson". This means they like the country's record so far and does not want them to have it ruined by a shitty song.

Seeing it as some sort of a disgrace for a country's decision or whatever is just ridiculous. If you're a fan of Adele and she releases a really bad album, you kind of want it to flop so it teaches her a lesson and makes her sound more like her previous REALLY successful albums. It's not an insult, really.

Well, the song is still written by our very own Stig, so even if foreign artists had not been allowed this year, he could have entered the same song with a local singer. Might have made the whole package more 'estonian', but the song would still be the same mediocre product. And Estonian televoters would probably still eat it up. I don't think having a Swede sing it really gives him any advantage. As for the backing vocals, we'll have to see how much (if any) that changes the game. I agree we could do without those, but I don't know if it benefits Victor any more than any of the others. Short of banning Stig from the contest, I'm not sure Storm could have been prevented. And if it succeeds, it will be down to the taste of our Stig-loving audience. We can hope our taste will 'evolve' over time, but that might take another 30 years or something.

now this is an argument i can run with. yes, this probably wouldn't be much better were it in someone else's hands or stig's own, which would still be 100% within the usual eesti laul format. point ceded. though, personally just getting victor's voice out of the picture would do wonders lol.

Jesus Christ!

Lets make it short ... lets assume Vic wins and flops hard in ESC like some "true fans" hope.

So what should GP/Jury "learn from it"? How do you imagine the process happening? Should we have next time the rule "Swedes not allowed" ("Runaway" was success) or "Stig Rästa not allowed" (GTY was a success) or "generic pop songs Brazilian fans and "wtf" do not approve are not allowed". HOW do you imagine anyone learning from it? This is not Leto Svet that clearly was something dfferent and clearly understandable how.

So this nonsense of "learn from Storm failure" is just some deeply stupid bullshit to show some frustration towards a potential winner before the final even has started.

Please don't take the fan culture so seriously. It's unhealthy. What he originally posted about the country learning a lesson was just a random thing between the gifs and memes about Inga winning. It should have gone unnoticed. I'm careful next time saying something like "Victor found dead in a ditch" because I might get a lecture on how him dying would not really change anything and it makes me a bad person. LOL. Hope it's over now, back to positive vibes.

Did you avoid my questions about how do you imagine "the learning process" on purpose or just have nothing to add?

Also thank you for explaining his thoughts, which he has xenophobically ("this /add some random insult/ Swede") shown here many times before this particular case. It seems he has many forum friends here who know exactly how/what the guy thinks and are in a deep hurry to explain his words.

Yes, I avoided them and my post clearly implied why. Saying a country should learn from sending a bad song is a very average (Eurovision) fan thing to say, just like my comparison to saying someone's dead in a ditch or "found rotting". Stuff like that shouldn't be overlooked. The stanning culture can sound toxic but most of the time it's just part of the fun.

Somehow I think having Stig sing it himself would be even worse. His vocals on last year's Home were shaky enough, and that song was a calm little ballad. Trying to imagine him belting out the Storm chorus...doesn't fill me with confidence. But perhaps he could have found a third singer for the job. I guess he had a convenient Swede handy and thought hey, why not.

I guess the biggest issue is just the lack of strong stand-out songs this year, allowing polished mediocrity to shine. How many of them might have been left behind by the selection jury, we'll never know. I'm hoping they will have a more varied panel next year, and our songwriters will bring their A-game. :)

So you dont have a vision how a country can learn from this bad Storm song failure, but you want it to fail anyway, because it is very average thing to say. Got it!

If I don't like a song, yes, I don't think it should get a better result than other songs from other countries I like more. Easy as that. I'm not being biased and simply root for it because it represents my country. Did I like Play? No! Was I sad it ended up last? Not really! Because 2016 was filled with better songs than this.

Easy as that! And if I want to, I can say I want my country to learn from it and not explain anything because it's a random little fan thing to say without putting too much thought into that.
