Re: EESTI - Estonia 2011

Listen, A-lister, singing is singing. Tit shaking, copying Shakira, screaming pointless word "hopaparei", making somersaults on the stage, computing the voice etc. is NOT singing. Its a SONG competition so singing and music should come first.

It doesnt matter if I hate or like rock ("I wanna meet Bob Dylan" It`s not even a rock song btw) I just want BS of people voting with their eyes to stop.

If you cant understand this, I`m sorry cant explain it to you easier.

Your attitude sucks really, so listen "mate":

This is called Eurovision Song Contest, it's not a SINGING competition (we have Idol and other craps like that for that purpose alone), it's a SONG competition (there's a difference there).. it's also about the VISION (show), otherwise why pay all those millions to have a TV show when we could simply have a radio show then?

I never dissed people's taste, I was just curious why automatically some consider it more "quality" if you put a guitar in ones hand, and put a band on stage and delete the total show factor.

I don't think there's less "quality" in what you call "tit shaking", it's just people have a different taste. There's no less quality in that some artists put on some show, and I don't get the attitude why it should be?? So you don't like it, good, but don't act like you're the taste of class while others need to be "taught right", no need to talk down and act all snobby.

People watch Eurovision for the combination of show and songs, there are millions of "non-shows" music events out there, Eurovision is not one of them.

So excuse me for being totally tasteless

End of discussion.

Before you dont understand that Estonia is not selecting the best song for ESC, but winner of Eesti Laul (Estonian SONG) we have nothing to talk about.

I don't want to talk with you anymore so that's alright by me.

Don't need to spend my time on people talking down on me.

And one more thing: Why fool yourself? Yes it's "Eesti Laul", still it's a selection for Eurovision whether you like it or not.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back on topic: Estonia's got a very good selection of songs this year. Hope for the best one to be chosen offcourse ;) But there are many decent choices.

Go Ithaka Maria ;)

Hope for something in Estonian again, the best entries were always in Estonian.

From the 1st semi final Getter Jaani and Outloudz were way above the others. Reality is that Getter Jaani would get 10+ places higher result in ESC, but I dont give a damn about the ESC result and Outloudz is 10 times more quality music. I want Estonia to go to Düsseldorf with quality music (maybe miss the finals) and keep our face while sending high quality stuff with "Eff You Europe - we are ok with last place and dont need to go mad just to win this clown contest" mentality. So shortly ... Outloudz it is for me!!!

xgood

I think one aim of Eesti Laul should be to help bring to national spotlight interesting bands and singers that are perhaps not so widely known yet. This certainly happened last year with Malcolm Lincoln, and regardless of how they placed at the ESC, I was (am) glad for them. They got some recognition and opportunities as a result, and I hope the same will happen for Outloudz. Winning the final would of course help with that, but both Tomi Rahula and Stig Rästa are established enough as musicians in Estonia that actually winning the whole thing shouldn't be as crucial as it would be for complete unknowns.

Time for the artists from second semi-final to rate their competitors. Mimicry and MID are first.

Mimicry:
10 - Shirubi Ikazuchi
9 - Orelipoiss
8 - Sõpruse Puiestee ja Merili Varik
7 - Sofia Rubina
6 - MID
5 - Tiiu Kiik
4 - Rolf Roosalu
3 - Ithaka Maria
2 - Uku Suviste

MID:
10 - Sõpruse Puiestee ja Merili Varik
9 - Shirubi Ikazuchi
8 - Rolf Roosalu
7 - Tiiu Kiik
6 - Ithaka Maria
5 - Sofia Rubina
4 - Uku Suviste
3 - Mimicry
2 - Orelipoiss

MID gave their points based by the length of artist names and song titles.

Total (2/10):
19 - Shirubi Ikazuchi
18 - Sõpruse Puiestee ja Merili Varik
13 - Sofia Rubina
12 - Rolf Roosalu
12 - Tiiu Kiik
11 - Orelipoiss
9 - Ithaka Maria
6 - MID
6 - Uku Suviste
3 - Mimicry

Artists who have not given their votes yet are in bold.
These points will not affect the results of semi-final in any way.

Predictions regarding the second semifinal:

Rolf, Uku Suviste and Ithaka Maria seem like shoo-ins for places in the final; I reckon Sõpruse Puiestee will also get there; and then the fifth spot is up for grabs.

*lol*

When these artists vote for their competition it's so obvious they don't want to vote for their biggest competitors

I'm afraid Estonia will do a mistake like last year :( Siren was an ok song, but I think it's time for something more upbeat and showy ;)

Re: EESTI - Estonia 2011

I figure the big duel in the final will be between Getter Jaani and Ithaka Maria. Outloudz could edge in there. If there's a big campaign in local Russian-language media to get Russians to watch and vote for Victoria, then who knows what effect that will have on the results, but otherwise I don't see her winning.

You can watch the first semifinal in full here, or check out the individual performances here.

I dont get why people are ignoring Sõpruse Puiestee & Merili Varik. They have a big following, like most of my friends support them. The song could work for the jury and is really Estonian. Seriously with so cold weather as we have outside, it see it getting increased votes due to only that.

Is Ithaka Maria Greek ?

She's Estonian, her father just likes long and complicated names. ;) Her full name is Gyrcelea-Ithaka-Maria Rahula, and if I recall correctly, she has a couple of sisters with similar names.

Edit: According to the internet, her younger sister is called Egerthylea Rhe Danoa Ishtar...

Estonian news portal delfi.ee has just reported that one of the songs has been disqualified, with no further information about which song, or even any hints (link to the story, in Estonian). The song will be revealed later tonight on ETV, in Ringvaade.

Re: EESTI - Estonia 2011

Reason for disqualification: the same lyrics (by a renowned Estonian poet) have already been made into a song in 2006. The rules of Eesti Laul state that neither the lyrics nor melody can be performed or published before Sept 1 2010.

I didn't much like his song so at least someone else will have a shot at entering the final.

That was a surprise. I liked the song, but I didn't see it anyway to be choosen for Düsseldorf. So I hope he will do still great with this song in Estonian Radios.
