In 2015, Microsoft provided the graphics, probably one reason why the scoreboard looked more different, otherwise it´s copy/paste which is such a shame.

Every contest should look different in graphics, scoreboard and so on, I mean ESC has a standard logo, that´s enough

This is what really gets me about things like Florian Wieder being drafted to design the stage year after year. I know the Eurovision is all about international cooperation and it's great to see international teams working on the contest, don't get me wrong, but when you have the same design and the same team and the same same same every year then why bother having it be hosted in different countries every year? It's so cool to see the difference each host country can bring to the contest, why not let that shine through?

So, let Sweden win this year and set the tone for the next 5 years: new rules for running order, for voting order, for voting presentation, new colour schemes, new graphics, new scoreboard design. Hosts joke less and appear more serious, the arena is the smallest place in the entire country and doesn't require space for audience.

How do you mean? I am born in 2001, she had her prime in the 80's - 90's. So...Literally before my time (which is now)

You were too young to notice, but she was still relevant (and killing it) in 2005-2006 with her disco-dance-pop album "Confessions On A Dancefloor" :p
If you're curious, go check it out, it's one of my favourite albums from her and it hasn't aged one bit: by the way, her lead single "Hung Up" featured a sample from "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" of ABBA. ;)

After that era, the decline started (musically and popularity-wise).

lol i'm 29 (as of 42 minutes ago) and even *I* consider Madonna before my time. Her best work are her 80s and 90s songs anyway. ;)

So, I haven't got a care she'll be there, other than it hopefully inspires whoever it is that creates the Nekci Menij Show to churn out another episode once her stembot has arrived from the colonies.

I have a theory that the EBU wants to stick with the same scoreboard design they've been using in order to cater to people with poor vision or who are color blind. I imagine that's why they want to stick with a simple and clean design with high contrasting colors (darker blue with the contrasting white text) to make sure everyone can follow what's happening on the board.

Matt talking to the Jerusalem Post:

https://m.jpost.com/Israel-News/Culture/A-Eurovision-bubble-in-Tel-Aviv-588970

A EUROVISION BUBBLE IN TEL AVIV

(......)

“Here you don’t even know” about the flareup in violence, said Matt Friedrichs of the popular Eurovision blog ESCUnited. “You live in a bubble.”

Friedrichs, speaking to The Jerusalem Post at the Eurovision press center on Monday, said at least 90% of the conversations going on there are about the upcoming competition, and not the rocket attacks. “Occasionally it comes up, sometimes in the press conferences,” he said, “but just briefly.”

Friedrichs, who is attending his eighth Eurovision, said his time in Tel Aviv has been “really good so far... it’s been fairly smooth for the most part.” News about rockets and violence, he said, came to him from comments on his videos and from phone calls from family.

So many Eurovision fans are being negative about Madonna appearing. Is it the fact that they are inviting an American pop-legend to be the big star of the night, which kind of goes against the idea that Eurovision culturally and spiritually is something absolutely unique and slightly exclusive?

I absolutely adore her and is excited to see her. She has paved the way and set the bar for pop music and there is just something about her that I can't describe that touches me. For me, the best part is that Eurovision gets more international attention for this which can only give more fuel to the competition.

I don't get all these negative reactions either.
Of course, the Eurovision Song Contest does not need Madonna but it's nice to get some international attention & Madonna is just an interval act. Tbh, I don't care about the performances between the competing entries and the voting... and it still seems that Israel will give a lot of time to Israeli entries to play a big role during the three live shows... so what's the big deal of letting an artist of a different nationality perform for 5 minutes?

It's gross... some Eurovision fans seem to be so "left"ish that they turn out to be a bit racist haha

This attitude some fans have towards everything in ESC that they don´t like, they bash like shit, that is gonna get this contest killed if it continues

Hello everyone! This is my first post coming from the UK! I hope you’re all well and wanted to know your thoughts on the rehearsals?! If anyone is interested and has a spare few minutes, please watch my new video https://youtu.be/j8oRF0Crky8 , it is my top 10 of this years contest! However now that we’ve seen some rehearsals, a few countries are already out of my top 10 so I need to do an updated one soon 😂

Who do you think is going to surprise us out of the big 5 and Israel?

Hello Sarah, welcome to the forum!!

I think:

:it: If they stage well the song they are definitely in the race to the trophy
:fr: Unpredictable - I think it will be killed by the juries;
:es: Spanish entries are usually popular among many fans but sometimes they fail. I liked the original song very much - think the revamp was a downgrade;
:uk: I think they can surprise us if the staging is very good. Otherwise, honestly I feel it will be hard to be into the Top 15;
:de: Maybe I'm giving this opinion because I don't like the song, but I think this will finish bottom 3 in the Grand Final;
:il: It's not a bad ballad, but I feel that people won't connect to this one. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish bottom 3 as well.

I agree with everything you've said to be honest! The strongest is Italy and the weakest is Germany. When I heard that the UK are having no pyro (not sure if that is a rumour or not) I got a bit worried. I hope they don't go down the route that Ireland did last year! Not long till we find out I suppose!

:de: Honestly I don't think there's any chance for them to get out of the bottom 5. The song is too weak and the singers aren't that great either
:il: It's kinda boring and even tho he could really deliver live, I don't think he'll have a very good staging. It'll probably just get lost in the final
:uk: I don't think the UK is going to have a great staging, but as Michael is a really good performer, they could sneak into the top 15.
:es: They have a really catchy and fun song. Moreover, Miki is a great performer and he's always full of joy. I think they could hit the top 10.
:fr: Bilal improved vocally, he's really charismatic and the song is getting a revamp. If the staging is as good as Bilal seems to describe it, I think we may have a chance for the top 10.
:it: If they have a great staging, they'll have the full package and I think they could win. Otherwise, it'll be complicated.

Maybe UK will not need pyros, but they will need to do something that can connect people to the song... But yes, in Friday we will find out!!

I like Germany's song.

Also, is it just me or get the amoutn of rehearsal clips (and how advanced they are from the beginning), amout of interviews etc. beforehand get more and more every year? Two years ago, when I first heard about 'rehearsals' the first rehearsal was just the artist singing the song already a bit on the stage. Now the first rehearsal si with everything minus the camerawork and the 'exclusive rehearsal' could have been taken out of the liveshow.
