I agree that the new system is better however I also agree with Grinch that I enjoyed the long and extra dramatic way of presenting the votes more than the current rushed feeling one, which is I think what she mean't. I miss ':8: points to...'

Tbh I even loved when they announced 1-7 points :D

I read somewhere that maybe the votes 1-10 of juries will appear one by one while the spokesperson says hello and then the sokeperson will say only the 12 points! However i have no idea how true it is!

If they keep shortening it, within some years there won't even be a spokesperson  announce the winner and bye bye

My only problem with the current voting system is that the spokespersons reveal the jury votes which is I am the least interested about. I am more curious to see how public voted rather than how 5 specific people rated them. Give us juries as how televote is given, and I would be fine.

That change wouldn't shorten it actually! More likely it would help people to follow better the voting of juries! Instead of showing the votes 1-10 just appearing in the screen they would show them one by one!

idk why they can't just add another 15-20 minutes to the runtime and have the spokespeople do the top three separately again. what's an extra 15 minutes when the show already goes for like 15 hours anyway

It was likely because it is easier to arrange since jury votes are given one day prior to the live contest and the EBU team has an entire 40 minutes to arrange televote while the jury votes are revealed. But before 2016, we never had problems with combination of the votes in a short span of time. It is not supposed to be impossible to do it that way either.

I would be really surprised if this part wasn't pretty much entirely automated. Basically I think you can be shown the results a few seconds after the votes stop. Let's put an inteval act in as a doublecheck/arrangement of order time and they should be fine to go.

I don't know where I should put this,
so I leave it here.
It's a map showing which countries that have done better in the jury vote and which countries that have done better in the televote in since 2010.

:au::mt::sl::ge::at::al: are the top 5 with juries,
while :ru::pl::tr::ro::ua: are the top 5 with televoting.
:cz::ba::pt::me::fi: are the most neutral countries.

I am fascinated by stuff like this ^^^^^^

It's clear that eastern Europe either try harder or get a better neighbourly vote - or a combination. The big five... LOL

According to Oiko:

When the jury voting is complete, the hosts start the public voting announcement. The voting announcement will commence announcing the points the 26th country in the jury voting received. Then they will announced thee public voting for the 25th country and so on!

So instead of announcing the 26th country in tele voting, the announcement will begin with the points that the actual 26th country (in the jury voting) has!

that map doesn't really take points into account though. A difference between 20th and 25th might only be a few points, but a difference between 3rd and 8th could be as much as 100 or so points.

Interesting, but I wonder if the general public will understand the procedure

I like the change, as long as it's not a massive blowout it guarantees that we'll get an exciting result.

It would have backfired completely last year, since :at: and :se: neither got many televoting points, which means that it would have been decided before the last votes are announced.

So, this change, if it´s true is not good at all, since the climax can occur even when 5-6 countries are still waiting for their score

With the current procedure in place since 2016, the winner will always be determined in the absolute last moment during the voting which many wants, at least if you look on this forum prior years

I would have preferred the old way. Shocks like Poland 2016 were a lot more fun than keeping it safe like this. Still, maybe it'll be for the best.
