make it look like a country is in for the win with a huge televote score by leaving it to the end, or right near it but then reveal it actually only got like 10 points and flopped with public? :D that would be a curveball.

Imagine them doing that with Sweden last year... that would be DRAMA

yeah i have no idea what else they could do within this points system lol

maybe they will reveal televote results by reverse jury ranking? as in, they reveal the points of the jury last place, then 25th, and so on until the jury winner?? imagine last year doing that with THAT top 2 rofl

They should just change the presentation, doing it slower to build drama.

As example, a better showing of the points that are going to be distributed. After announcing the lowest points, for the Top 15 Host says: "Next-up, we have 85 points. (The number 85 appears on screen meanwhile). They go to..." The camera shifts to some of the acts that still needs to receive their points with tension music - like Melodifestivalen. At the end: "They go to... Latvia! Making them 12th overall in the scoreboard." (Scoreboard appears)

Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere but according to the Czech HoD there will be changes to how they will present the final results this year... it should be more 'dramatic'

I agree with Czech HoD lol, since they've changed the voting it has become Zzz! The voting used to be my favourite part - now they speed through the countries so quickly just saying hello, 12, bye (and the countries don't even give points which people in that country have voted for) you just lose track.

Hmm... let's hope... only reading out the 12 points by the spokespersons completely killed the suspense... what were the producers even thinking!?!? The voting is a huge part of the whole concept !!! At least read out the 8 - 10 -12 ... also each set of points in the televote should be read out... only showing the top is really stupid as well.

It's "funny" how there must be something to change every couple of years nowadays...

I don't see what could be more "dramatic" than the current system tbh. Contrary to the reactions above, I'm against extending the voting presentation. If anything, they could shorten it by scrapping the detailed votes of the juries which - let's be real - aren't relevant to the GP. Five random people per country don't deserve so much attention.

I'd rather see whom televoters in each country voted for, but then again, I have no idea how they could make it look climactic; if the juries' ranking were presented the way televoting was presented since 2016, wouldn't it be a turn-off to follow the detailed breakdown of the televotes afterwards? xthink

Whatever they do, televoting should still be revealed last.

Maybe a spokesperson could announce the points from the jury of a nation, then the televoting of that nation is revealed right away (and added to the scoreboard in real time) before moving on to the next country xthink In other words, the jury's points and televotes could be revealed at the same time by the spokespeople.

Oh, now it hit me - they could do the whole thing we had in our Czech national final this year, which means something like only reveal the 12 points of every single national jury / televote, then try building up on that with revealing the totals.

But tbh I quite like the current system, the only thing I would change is - if there is a situation like in the past two years, with only two song left and clearly the one with better score will win it, just announce the winner first and only care about points later.

Just thought what the voting change could be-
they might announce each song's televote score in reverse order of its placing in the jury vote
so for last year, Ukraine, 119 points, Portugal 18 points,... UP TO Israel... 317 points, Sweden 21 points, Austria, 71 points
EDIT: Somebody already suggested this- Great minds think alike!!

I think they should bring back 8, 10 and 12 pts announcment, but in this way: they show automatically score from 1 to 7 pts for all countries (jury vote) and this is, for example, what you get if you do that in 2018:

1 Germany 80
2 Israel 78
3 Cyprus 75
4 Albania 74
5 France 74
6 Estonia 71
7 Austria 65
8 Sweden 63
9 Australia 62
10 Czech Republic 58
11 Bulgaria 56
12 Ireland 56
13 Netherlands 55
14 Lithuania 50
15 Slovenia 41
16 Norway 40
17 Moldova 36
18 Spain 33
19 Finland 23
20 Italy 21
21 Portugal 21
22 Hungary 20
23 Denmark 18
24 United Kingdom 15
25 Ukraine 11
26 Serbia 8

Plus, you don't see who got lower score and suddenly 26 countries and waiting only for 3 highest scores.

News about rocket attacks around Tel Aviv sure are not good-looking for the Eurovision. The last one hit an home 25km north from Tel Aviv.

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/03/25/middleeast/israel-gaza-rocket-intl/index.html

Also, quoting CNN
The Monday incident comes less than two weeks after two rockets were fired at Tel Aviv, the first time rockets had been fired at central Israel in almost five years. The IDF assessment was that the rockets -- which caused no damage -- were accidentally launched by low-level Hamas operatives, local media reported.

We used a simular kind of system two times in MF 1997 and 1999 when all the juries were called in two rounds, in the first round they gave all the votes up to the second favorite, and when they were called a second time, they announced the :12:,

It could be effective

It would be messy. The amount of casual voters that would be confused as hell with the proceedings would be huge.
Quite a few poeple haven't yet understood the new way the votes are presented, imagine what would happen if a system like that was used.

not to mention the 2nd part of the jury voting being very boring with the same few countries picking up almost all the 12's 10s 8s or whatever.

Why don't they bring back the old system? :( It was FINE. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Because the old system was mathematically horrible.

If you're talking about the voting system i agree that the new one is better than the old one!
