Stockholm 2016 had a lot of several Swedish interval acts as well.. . I don't mind seeing a worldwide/international act performing for 5 minutes to boost the contest and attract bigger viewing figures.

The big reason for Switzerland's pre-allocation request is the IIHF World Hockey Championship. Their team plays Austria in a match on the day of SF1, so as not to conflict with it SRF requested allocation to SF2

Looks a bit like last year where semi 1 looked much weaker on paper but then ended up being the much stronger semi. There's a lot of nobodies in Semi 1, should be interesting to watch

Regarding only the qualification rate of the countries in the SFs, SF2 is the tougher one.

So.. semi final 2 looks like the tougher one.

Yes, but I would say that last year, semi 2 looked a lot stronger on paper....but in the end, it was semi 1 that had the toughest semi songwise ever.

So yeah, we'll have to wait, but it will be interesting for sure. :D

Tumblr, mostly.
SemiFinal 1 is such a crapshoot lol. Ukraine and Australia are the only Overdog Nations in that semifinal and based on what we know about Australia Decides and Vidbir, both should be locks. I think Portugal could become locks as well, but only if they choose Conan. The rest, who the hell even knows, anything is possible right now.

SemiFinal 2 on the other hand is super stacked: There are seven clear faves: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Austria, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden and Romania. But none of them are guaranteed qualifiers, all of them have NQ'd before; It will depend on how good their songs are and on how well they will be staged. Stacked semifinals always lead to shock NQ's and I would've be too surprised if at least ONE of the countries I just mentioned NQ'd in favour of a likable underdog.
