Madonna could sing an eurovision winner medley.... Hard Rock Halleluja, ̶f̶̶u̶̶e̶̶g̶̶o̶ Toy, Rise Like A Phoenix and Euphoria

Do you think she'd sing so many songs she never heard of before?

Despite the tax evasion allegations Bar Refaeli will be one of the hosts because of her far reaching experience.

If the Madonna rumors turn true, I am all for it. It's a win-win, surely would boost even more curiosity about the show having the biggest female artist of all time and one of the most famous women on the planet performing there, and for Madonna it is surely going to boost interest and promo for her new upcoming album/single/project performing on the single biggest entertainment show on the planet.

Also, I'm a big Madonna fan (if I can ignore the last couple of outputs which were career lows for her, so I hope her new stuff will be great again), so I'm obviously happy about the idea.

After having Justin Timberlake performing as an intervall act in Stockholm and Kiev trying to get Lady GaGa on board, I think that this Madonna rumour ain't far-fetched.

Like A-lister already mentioned, it would be a win-win situation for all parties involved. The Eurovision Song Contest would make headlines ahead of the show because the general public will await Madonna's performance and Madonna herself can get people interested in her upcoming project; especially since her last two eras underperformed (singles-wise).
It's already known/highly speculated that Madonna is about to drop a new single in May. Schedule-wise, it would perfectly fit!

Florian Wieder on Israeli TV

For the final we have an amazing opening.......This opening....it will be one of the best Eurovisions ever

Apparently, the goal is to upstage the opening of the Grand Final in Vienna 2015 (internally, it is still considered as the most creative in staging effects). Thus, the opening of 2015 is also the model for the opening in Tel Aviv. The triangles should have a similar function as the moving spheres in Vienna, if the funding is sufficient (the stage elements in Portugal were originally meant to be movable too, but this could not be financed in the end).

Getting Madonna really just screams "We value scoring some cheap points with The Gays™ than showcasing our own culture and talent". I thought one of the main points of Eurovision was to showcase and display the music and character of every country in Europe, not to provide a platform for some aging has-been that has nothing to do with any of the participating countries. I really hope this is just a rumour. I have my own issues with Israel, of course, but they really can do better than just importing some generic pop act from outside of the contest.

Aside from "Vogue" and "Hung Up" (they're great songs), personally I'm not really bothered about Madonna's music, but there is no doubt that Justin Timberlake as an interval act worked really well and had people talking about Eurovision who don't normally care for it. I'm sure they would also have Israeli artists and music during the show too.

While I dunno anything about the announced hosts, I am not a fan of having that many and never was. I thought three were too many and now the new trend with four!? Just no... too many cooks spoil the broth xshrug

Don't we just looove when random ageism is being thrown-around so casually... just try to change the word "aging" to "black" for instance and you'd quickly see how bad it sounds xshrug Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to dislike an artist for various reasons, which is fine, but we (most of us) will all be old some day, it's a natural biological process that we don't really choose, and this whole idea that someone should just give up and lay down and die when they turn a certain age is just ... no further comment on that ... also funny that ageism is more often directed at females... but that's a complete different discussion I won't dig further into here. I don't think you had actual bad intentions with your comment although I do think that we (= as in the "younger generation") are way too insensitive when it comes to ageism as a "concept", but it is unfortunately real and it isn't cute.

I might be a bit biased here since I am a fan of this so called "generic aging has-been" (= most successful female artist of all time), so I'm obviously fine with this although I DO get your point with keeping it local though and not a platform for promo for some international act that doesn't really have much connection to the host country nor the contest (although Madonna do has various connections to Israel, far more than your average American artist has... and many do see ESC as some sort of platform for the LGBT community, even EBU pushes it as such, and she is a big gay icon which has always been an "ally" and stood up for "gays" even at times when it could have harmed her career...). However, this would boost interest for the contest certainly, so as far as public interest and viewership goes, it won't harm the contest, more the opposite. But yeah, I kind of agree with the "local connection" point, although Madonna makes far more sense than Justin Timberlake did though... not that it's an argument for, just saying.
