I didn't refer to Australia's starting order last year though... just to clarify

Really? I see lots of people thinking they (Romania) are some sure (or atleast were before the starting order revealed) qualifier? xshrug

Well, you said "again" so I assumed you mean Australia gets always dreamspots but for me it looks like they give australia only dreamspots when theyre high in the Odds (15,16,18).

Really? In every international and german Forum, Romania is hated, betting Odds have it as a NQ, Youtube-Toplists have it often Bottom5. I never read anywhere that its a safe Qualifier, rather the other way round.

Well, I meant more that they are "pushed", but as far as starting order you could be right...

Well, it seems a different case reading here, but I obviously didn't read all comments so...

Well, since Australia will qualify anyway (and this year even deserved tbh) im ok with giving Australia #9, only Norway and Netherlands were the alternatives.

A-lister There's nothing to suggest that the break will be after song 9. Usually there's 1 break after song 4 or 5 and then another around song 12, 13 or 14. I would be very surprised if they decided to put one right after song 9 this year.

I‘d suggest a system for the semis comparable to the lucky looser in skijumping competitions.
For instance: a certain number of each semifinal qualifies for the final (let‘s say the first 6, but that‘s debateable). So we get 12 qualifiers. The other qualifiers are the 12 best entries from both semis. This could mean 6 from each, or in the most exreme case one complete semi and just two more from the othr one.
The advantages would be: more strong song sin the final, and more chances for songs in „bloodbath“ semis, and more tension, as we would know all the finalist obly after the second final.
I haven‘t thought this through in detail though. Just a thought that crossed my mind

We're searching for the winning song, and a winning song will qualify from each semi, no matter how hard the semi is xshrug . In the end it's only the victory that matters

Every Position matters.

Sure it does. But I do not see the point in changing the "10 qualifiers from each semi final"-concept. It would only make a difference in just a handful of countries who'd qualify, and the top 10/top 15 will qualify regardless of in which semi they'll be.

Ola Melzig started updating his Eurovision Diary for this year! Today's post was about the past few months of work and falling in love with Portuguese cuisine, but from tomorrow on it will be focused on the building of the stage (which started today) and the rehearsals taking place in Lisbon

I see lot of people think of Romania as some sort of sure qualifier, have you heard the song? Is a bore! Without diaspora votes and some random weird jury votes, this song is a sure non-qualifier, and with its position now it looks even more certain it won't qualify.

When I saw the running order, Romania at #2 made me smile. And I will laugh hard when they qualify. They gave them second spot on purpose thinking they can eliminate a country this way. Same happened to Poland 2016. And it didn't really work so I can see Romania qualifying no matter, the song is good enough, it stands out.
I can see why Iceland got #2... But again, a randow draw has been abandoned to keep the shows more interesting and it also became a platform for some to manipulate the results. :?

As for Poland this year being after Georgia may help us to get more televote but juries will trash our entry again. Georgia is much more jury friendly. Can't see your point with Malta, how can Malta cancel our votes and vice versa, songs are pretty different styles.

To me, the best part was "ok, Poles managed to get by: let's put "Color Of Your Life" between "J'ai Cherché" and "Sound Of Silence" to show how big the quality gap is"... And then Michal reached third place in televoting like "What was you peasants trying to do? I told y'all I was lit!" That was hilarious.

I agree on what you say though, either bring back the random draw for the sake of fairness or - at the very least - appoint a different bunch of people each year to come up with the running order. Björkman is doing him, it's getting as outrageously biased and predictable as Melfest running orders.

Michal and The Humans both beat several Favourites in their NF. No wonder, that the EBU is still butthurt.

And people still saying Michał got many votes that were meant to be Dami's by mistake :D :D

Do you think bad number ten songs in a bad semi final get less points than good songs number 10 in a good semi? It probably doesn't matter, so we shouldn't to keep it simple

Michał Szpak was a complete embarrassment robbing Margaret from entering and honestly Poland from a possible first win. "Cool Me Down" was a bop and Björkman was right trying to get rid of Szpak's mishmash of a "song". There you have it

margaret was so terrible live that she would have maria olafs-ed poland into not qualifying for years after her disaster. thank god she flopped then, this year, and hopefully every future year forever.

michal is a wonderful ethereal crystal who deserved every single point he got and played a critical role in Operation Jamala Victory and i will be etetnally grateful for his existence.

LOL the song is a complete rip-off of classical bit and pieces e.g Circle of Fifths. Just to take an example:
