I don't know this town of Herning, but effectivingly the main problem is how will people manage to arrive there as the airport is not connected with many places elsewhere than Copenhagen... And secondly, where will the audience and the 40 delegations stay ? There were already problems in Düsseldorf because there was another event meanwhile. And even, we have the same problem in France when there is the Tour de France. When it arrives in non touristic areas, hotels are booked by the teams until more than 100 kilometers around, because there are sometimes not enough...

So indeed, in Herning, it will be a huge mess and it won't give enough money to the broadcaster !

Plus, Eurovision is by now not like in the time of Millstreet. Now it's a big party with things outside and all... There it would be quite strange no ?

Haha, as few of us actually know any of these places, I guess it just reflects our expectations of how Eurovision should be, or simply put The Vision. I kind of fancy smart small scale solutions before large ones. The simple is often also the hardest and most challenging to achieve. If the Danes want to pour their Krones into a big event in Copenhagen, fine, but to me it appears less interesting than the other alternatives.

I've been taking russian classes for some months now, and the phonetics of the russian alphabet has no sound completely similar to H in germanic and latin languages. The one letter that comes the closest is "х" which is pronounced more like "ch" in german though. So yeah, Herning will be a trouble-maker for most russian (and most likely other slavic-speaking) commentators

Simply put, it's called "silent H", which is a bit like between Germanic H and the H sounds one could hear in Arabic or Hebrew...

Her (if E is pronounced like Ye in Yeah which is the way we always pronounce letter E, there's a different letter for soft E like in Hey or Heaven (Э) ) means **** in russian...Oh they don't even allow to type it in here lol Spelling it out - DorothyIrenChrisKumar


No Name , yep they will have a hard time pronouncing that, i think they only thing they can do is pronouncing E like Yo (Ё, Хёрнинг).

Ballerup Super Arena could make for an interesting choice. Shame it's too small. And why not use the Jyske Bank boxen again? It's big and with good acustic, the Danish Grand Prix in 2013 was absolutely brilliant (how many times have I said this??).

With Parken out of the race, Boxen in Herning is now the favorite to host ESC 2014, so it seems very likely we're going to Herning - at least if you trust the bookmakers.

I could accept Eurovision in Odense or Aalborg, or maybe even in Randers. But not in Herning or Horsens.

Randers has 60.000 habitants while Horsens has 55.000...it's hardly that big a difference. .

The four biggest cities; Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense or Aalborg would've been preferable options in terms of infrastructure, culture, nightlife, and hotel capacity, but since neither of them have any appropriate arenas I don't see why ESC should be held there at any cost. Copenhagen (and others) think they can rely on their name and location alone to host an event like ESC, so on the bright side I think it will be a bit of a wake-up call for "the big four" if Herning, a hard-working, provincial city in the middle of Jutland with 47.000 habitants, gets to host Europe's biggest TV-event.

Although I live in Aarhus now, I'm born and bred in Copenhagen, and even I can see that Herning and Horsens have by far the most competent and well thought out ideas for ESC 2014. Herning's got an incredible, top-modern arena and Horsen's got great location (very close to Aarhus) and possibly the most original idea for an ESC-hosting ever.

The only bid Copenhagen's got left now is a fucking tent!

To me this is a complete no-brainer...Horsens or Herning to host ESC 2014!
